Welcome Angus Autumn Adventures is a brand new event which gives you the opportunity to try out some outdoor activities which you may not have had the chance to experience before. From the magnificent scenery of the glens, to the imposing cliffs and shoreline, there is no better place than Angus to try your hand at something new in the great outdoors. Whether it be learning new skills in wildlife photography, or a high adrenalin coasteering experience there is something for everyone in this fun-packed weekend. There are also plenty of activities for children to get involved in as well as adults! All the activities listed here are carried out by fully qualified and accredited companies and individuals who have a great amount of experience between them in helping others to enjoy the activities they offer. Taking part in outdoor activities is an ideal way to keep fit, and much more fun than going to the gym! About Angus Angus is situated on the east coast of Scotland, with beautiful scenery and great travel links to the rest of Scotland. The Angus Glens Isla, Prosen, Clova, Lethnot and Esk reach from the lowlands of the Strathmore Valley into the southern edge of the Cairngorms National Park. The glens are ideal for walking and many other activities, with some of the finest views in Scotland, and plenty of flora and fauna to explore. The coastline of Angus is breathtaking, with spectacular cliff paths and beautiful sandy beaches. A rich diversity of sea birds can be seen along the coast, and you might even spot a dolphin! During the weekend, why not take time out from all the activities to try out some of the superb local produce you can find here in Angus? Arbroath is home to the famous Arbroath Smokie, or why not sample a Forfar bridie? There are many fine restaurants and cafes in the area which suit all tastes and budgets. 2

3 Information Accommodation There is an excellent range of accommodation in the Angus area including hotels, guesthouses, B&Bs and self-catering accommodation. There are also several excellent camping and caravan parks. To find the best accommodation for your needs visit or Charges There is a charge for each activity which is generally discounted from the usual rate charged. All bookings are made through a central reservation point, with the proceeds being passed on to the activity providers. Booking The online booking system can be located at Book early to avoid disappointment as places are limited. Remember to print off your receipt information. Confirmation of time and locations When you have made a booking, you will receive confirmation of this via . You will then receive an from the activity provider, detailing the time of the activity, where the meeting point is, and what you need to bring with you. Transport Participants must make their own way to and from the location of the activity or pick-up point. Car parking will be available at every location. Liability Participants in Angus Autumn Adventures take part at their own risk, and organisers shall not be liable for any accident or injury, however caused. Activity providers all have their own public liability insurance, but you are advised to check that you have adequate personal accident insurance. Activity Providers All activities in Angus Autumn Adventures are carried out by fully qualified and accredited instructors. Maximum numbers All activities carry a maximum number of people who can take part in each session. This is for health and safety reasons. Early booking of activities is therefore advised. If your selected activity is fully booked you may be offered an alternative day or time. You may also be able to add your name to a waiting list, in the event of any cancellations. Cancellation by organisers Activities may be altered or cancelled at short notice for reasons beyond the organisers control, including severe weather conditions, but alternatives will be offered where possible. Cancellation by you Activities can be cancelled with a 15% administration fee up to and including Friday 27th July. Thereafter a 50% cancellation fee per activity per person will apply up to and including Friday 10th August. No refunds will be given after this date. Abilities There are activities in the programme to suit a variety of abilities. Some advice is given within this programme, but for further information please contact the activity provider directly prior to booking. 3

5 Programme of activities Horse Riding Provider: Day: Time: Cost: Glenmarkie Riding and Trekking Centre ( Saturday and Sunday 09.30, and on both days per person At Glenmarkie we offer riding lessons, trekking/hacking, pony parties and riding breaks for all ages and abilities. Glenmarkie is situated in a secluded area in the middle of the Glenisla forest. It is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and an ideal spot for horse riding away from roads and busy traffic. This special offer includes a 30 minute riding lesson and a 30 minute pony trek in the forest. Children s Nature Walks Provider: Day: Time: Cost: Granny Thompson ( Saturday and Sunday and both days (activity lasts approx 2 hours) 5.00 per person A series of walks are offered to explore the delights of Angus tailored to enthral children and families. Bring sturdy footwear, waterproofs, containers to collect shells, stones, cones etc., notebooks and pencils and a camera to record your day out. This is an ideal introduction for those wishing to try canoeing for the first time. You will learn how to move the canoe forwards, backwards, sideways and also how to turn it around. This usually involves lots of games, and the chance that you might get wet! This all happens at Forfar Loch. 6

Minimum age 12 and participants should be comfortable riding a bike. Please bring a rucksack with waterproofs, food and drink. Meet at Glenisla Village Hall. Coasteering Provider: Day: Time: Cost: Highway2 Adventure ( Saturday and Sunday 1.30pm per person If you re looking for a fun and interesting challenge, then coasteering is the ideal outdoor activity. Coasteering adventurers navigate their way along sections of Scotland s fabulous shoreline, using a combination of swimming, scrambling, rock climbing, sea level traversing and jumping. Minimum age 12. Meet at the Saltire Leisure Centre, Arbroath. Session lasts around two hours. 8

Participants should be comfortable riding a bike. Children under seven must be accompanied by an adult. Canyoning Provider: Gulabin Lodge Outdoor Centre ( Day: Sunday Time: and Cost: Canyoning involves traversing and descending the natural landscape, along rivers and down water-filled gorges or ravines. Techniques include climbing and abseiling, as well as swimming, and participants have fun getting over, around and down natural obstacles such as waterfalls, cliffs and swirling water rapids. Canyon adventurers will experience the thrill of a 75ft abseil into the foot of a gorge followed by an exciting swim down water into a jump pool. Over 15s only.
