2 From THE SUPER S DESK. Greetings to all Turkey Creek Division members The July 29 th Division Meet was a great success! An abbreviated report on the meet is included here. We had approximately 300 paid registrations and nearly 500 in total attendance, pretty much in keeping with past meets. Although, having missed holding the meet last year, there was some concern the attendance would hold. There were 82 sold vendor tables with 29 vendors. Most vendors, when queried, indicated that they had good sales. In addition to the vendor tables, we had three N scale and two HO operating layouts. The door prize program went well, passing out over 100 items. Six excellent clinics were presented to good audiences (ranging from 8-10 to a full room. I want to thank Miles Hale, Paul Evans, Marty Vaughn, Jack Ferris, and Ron Morse for presenting clinics I also presented one. The layout tour was also very successful, with many of the meet attendees visiting the seven layouts on tour. Here, I want to thank Bob McBean, Bill Scheerer, Don Ball, Joe Robertson, Miles and Fran Hale, Dale Phetteplace, and Jim EuDaly for opening their great layouts for the visitors. The contest was a little light on the number of entries when compared to past meets although the quality of all entries was very high. There were 50 model entries and 26 photos. A full report on the contest entries and winners will appear soon So, to repeat, it was a great meet if you missed it, you missed a good one. As is always the case, the meets offer an opportunity to find treasures that we can t live without. But, even more important, they allow us to spend time with old friends and meet some new ones. The August 22 Turkey Creek Division meeting welcomes Keith Jordan, with a presentation on building his current layout a Proto48 (that s O scale) rendition of the Redlands Loop in California. The presentation will include prototype information, as well as, some building progress photos. Should be great...don t miss it!
