BOX 2012 COTTONWOOD, AZ We had another successful show this year. I want to thank all the volunteers who worked before and during the show. Thanks also go s out to members who brought their equipment and other items to the show for display. Without volunteers and items on display there wouldn't be much of a show. We received donations from area businesses for items to be included in the silent auction. We also received $500 from the Page Antique Tractor and Machinery club. The Page club decided to disband and the money they had was divided up between four other clubs. We appreciated the money but were saddened that was the decision they had to make. The proceeds from the donations and the Page club will be used to give back to various venues in the area. The next show will be the Pine show on May 19th, and the McGuireville Memorial day event will be on May 26th. Among other activities going on, the Flag Raising Ceremony reminds us all of the freedoms we have due to the sacrifices of our military men and women Other events are listed in the calendar of events section. Meeting adjourned at 7:20 AM SUMMATION OF THE SHOWS The authors, (myself included) expound upon the engines; tractors; displays, events, etc. As it should be, without such there would be not be any cause to hold a show. Just stop a moment and think about our previous generations, who had to conquer the land, survey it and bust the sod with mules or large steam tractors. Now we reap the benefits of their frustrations and hard labor. Before I go any further I do not want you to think that I am trying to minimize the responsibility of arranging a successful modern day show. (I have been there). You believe the newsletter announcing dust off your tractors and engines, so and so show is coming up and so on. My symbology of the previous statement is like a person sitting in the audience with the curtains closed and is not aware of what s transpiring behind them. First and foremost all members are praying for good weather. Second, who is driving the bus, the club president, show chairman? The responsible persons co-ordinate the many aspects of a successful show. Is the location still valid, are the admission price, permits, insurance arranged for? Ouch! I wish you hadn t mentioned that. We all do our utmost to practice safety and avoid any accidents or claims. There are volunteers needed at the gate, inside to collect registration fees, sale items and dues. Areas need to be prepped for engines, tractors and the silent auction area. (Relocating the Apache Junction are was an improvement). Is there water available, food vendors, etc? Not to mention the sit down breakfast and dinners free for the taking and the list goes on. A big thank you to all the officers, volunteers, for all your interest, dedication and hard work. Remember, at the next show after your display is readied, if possible lend a hand. Verde Valley Fairgrounds offered the use of covered areas for the Silent Auction, an indoor Swap Meet and large engines. We graciously accepted. BTW, it didn t rain!
