3 National Museum of African American History & Culture We currently have 40 tickets available for the newest Smithsonian museum dedicated to African American history! These tickets are in high demand and can only be reserved 3 months in advance. Please let us know if you will be able make the museum tour so that we can give you a ticket. The NMAAHC is accessible is about a 30 minute drive from the hotel; however, we recommend taking the Metro as parking is limited and driving in DC can be a hassle during the week. The group will depart from Largo Town Center Metro Station at 11:45am Constitution Ave NW, Washington, DC GlenArden Community Room Take I-495 N/I-95 N towards Baltimore/College Park. Use the right 2 lanes to take exit 17 to merge onto MD-202 S/Landover Rd toward Upper Marlboro Continue on Landover Rd. Take St Josephs Dr, Ruby Lockhart Blvd and Campus Way N to McHugh Dr in Glenarden.Merge onto MD-202 S/Landover Rd. Keep left to continue on Landover Rd. Landover Rd turns left and becomes St Josephs Dr. Use the left 2 lanes to turn left onto Ruby Lockhart Blvd. At the traffic circle, take the 1st exit and stay on Ruby Lockhart Blvd. At the traffic circle, take the 3rd exit onto Campus Way N. At the traffic circle, continue straight to stay on Campus Way N 17. At the traffic circle, take the 1st exit onto McHugh Dr. Make the next left between Visionworks and Mens Warehouse the GlenArden Community Room will be on the left. McHugh Drive, Glenarden MD Millwood Park Milwood Park is a beautiful indoor/outdoor park and recreation center located in Prince George s County, MD. The park features : tennis courts, a playground area, basketball courts, and a baseball field, and space to play football or soccer. Make sure to bring your equipment to participate in outdoor activities. 4 Contest Rules 1. Contestants may have more than one entry, but can only win one (1) prize. 2. Submissions must be home cooked (not store bought) with recipe. 3. Types of desserts that may be entered: a. Cakes b. Cookies c. Brownies d. Pies 4. Please do not submit anything that requires refrigeration. 5. Contestants may work individually or with a team. (Prizes will be awarded to 1 member/ team only, NOT each individual.) 6. Each submission should have at least 20 samples for family to taste. 7. Entries must be accompanied by a brief description of the cultural or family significance of the dish. Contest Day: Check-in is at 1:00 PM at the Millwood Rec Center. Please be on time. The Contest Representative is Ashley Drakeford. The Scoring System: Each contestant will be assigned a number for judging. Submissions will be judged on a scale of 1-5, 5 being the highest. You will be judged on taste and appearance. The Contest Representative will tally all of the ballots. The contestant with the highest score will be the winner. PRIZES WILL BE ANNOUNCED THE DAY OF THE CONTEST YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN 4

6 The reunion planning committee has selected the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Glenarden Washington DC hotel as our host hotel for the family reunion. The Hampton Inn Suites is conveniently located off the I-95/I-495 Capital Beltway providing easy access to shopping and restaurants within walking distance. Six Flags America and Redskins NFL football at FedEx Field are only a short drive away. The Hotel s free shuttle to the Largo and New Carrollton Metrorail stations for access to Washington, DC monuments, museums and landmarks.
