2 1 CHIEF LOGAN RESERVATION BOY SCOUT RESIDENT CAMP Chief Logan Reservation is located outside of Chillicothe, near Ray, Ohio. With an open and flexible program and the friendliest staff, your Scouts are sure to have an awesome camp experience! Highlights of camp include the climbing tower, zip line, black powder shooting, GaGa Ball, Lakeside Aquatics program, Brownsea Island, nature study, handicraft, and much more! Program Options Week 1 Week 2 Week Camp Dates June June July 1-7 Open Program at CLR We pride ourselves on having an open program system where each camper can choose to spend time accomplishing tasks that will help him advance in rank. Campers can work on merit badges and requirements of any program area, at almost any time, on any day of the week. Merit badges and requirements are taught one-on-one or in small groups that allow for customized instruction and appropriate pacing for each Scout s abilities. Week 4 July 8-14 Week 5 July Week 6 July 22-28
3 Foothills First-Year Camper Program This program helps Scouters complete all camp related requirements for the Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First-Class ranks. It allows first-year Scouts to be introduced to the open program and camp traditions, along with exposing them to all program areas and events. The Foothills program emphasizes teamwork and leadership through the patrol method and prepares first-year Scouts to enter the Frontiersman program the following summer. Frontiersman Program This program emphasizes camp spirit and provides a challenge to older campers and adults, which enhances basic camping and wilderness survival skills, leadership, camaraderie, and self-confidence. This program is great for campers and adults who are looking for a challenge! There are three awards that can be earned: the Pioneer, Trapper, and Mountain Man. A camper must be at least 12 years old and First-Class to participate. New in 2018: We are adding a brand-new STEM themed program area. Stay tuned for more details! 4 3 CAMP FALLING ROCK BOY SCOUT RESIDENT CAMP Located 11 miles north of Newark, Ohio, Camp Falling Rock sits on more than 600 acres of land with rolling hardwood forests, streams and waterfalls, and scenic meadows. Large rock formations provide a beautiful backdrop to a historic covered bridge. What to do: Scouts will participate in a mix of merit badge and camp program activities using our flexible program schedule including: Handicrafts Shooting & Field Sports Scoutcraft & Outdoor Skills Nature, Ecology, and Conservation Aquatics & Waterfront Climbing Program Brownsea Program Conselor-in-Training Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week Camp Dates June June July 1-7 July 8-14 Program Options Brownsea Program The Brownsea Island is a specialized program for first year Scouts who may have just crossed over from Webelos, though Scouts of any age are encouraged to participate in this program. At the end of the week, Brownsea Scouts will walk away with a strong foundation in basic Scouting skills, several requirements from Tenderfoot to First-Class, and a merit badge or two. This program is available to anyone who may need one or two requirements to advance.
5 Open Program Using our flexible program schedule, Scouts can participate in any number of merit badges and exciting camp programs. While at camp not all campers are required to participate in the same activities as others. Each camper can spend his time accomplishing tasks that will help him advance in rank. Campers can work on merit badges and requirements of any program area, at almost any time, on any day of the week. CFR Labs If you love science, this is the place for you. CFR labs is the home to our science and technology program. Fourteen STEM merit badges are taught here with only four being scheduled in a closed program format. It is one of our more popular areas and offers many merit badges that are not usually offered in a camp setting! It is strongly recommended that Scouts have their Cyber Chip prior to camp to fully enjoy CFR Labs. 6 5 CAMP OYO BOY SCOUT RESIDENT CAMP Camp Oyo is located in the middle of Shawnee State Forest just outside of Portsmouth, Ohio. Summer Camp at Oyo is a unique camping experience offering great facilities, quality program, and a traditional Scouting experience sure to be remembered. Camp Oyo features historic log cabins or tent site camping and a full shower house. Program features include a pool, a large lake for boating and fishing, diverse merit badge options, and unique summer camp traditions. Join us for a week of Scouting unlike any other! Program Overview Camp Oyo offers an established quality program in a smaller camp setting for Scouts of all ages! This allows for more individualized interaction with the instructors and staff and encourages more interaction between troops in camp! Week Camp Dates June New in 2018: We ve added an extra week of Summer Camp! New merit badges and older Scout programs! Week 2 July 1-7
7 Program Features Eagle Quest A fun first-year camper experience focused on rank advancement with core Scouting and camping skills, aimed at providing quality training in a fun environment with unique experiences. Schedule includes program sessions for rank advancement, an overnight outpost, compass courses, pioneering, first aid, and free time for merit badge work. Flexible Merit Badge Program Areas Oyo program areas offer a large merit badge selection for Scouts to choose. This includes: Scoutcraft and nature, shooting sports, handicraft, and aquatics with an on-camp lakefront. A flexible program schedule allows Scouts to choose their own goals and schedule for the week. Some merit badges will also meet as scheduled classes. Camp Oyo Motawk Program The Motawk Tribe is a 30+ year tradition at Camp Oyo - A Native America based multi-year program that challenges Scouts to demonstrate their skills and teamwork. Those that accept the challenge will participate in group activities and complete a set of requirements throughout the week then attend special ceremonies and an overnight Pow-Wow outpost. Loaded with Extras! Campwide activities and competitions, movie night, pool party, chapel services, and more. Basketball and volleyball courts and a GaGa Pit are also available for your Scouts enjoyment. 8 7 CAMP FALLING ROCK WEBELOS RESIDENT CAMP Summer Camp is one of the highlights of a Pack s year round program. Webelos Resident Camp is an overnight experience designed to introduce Webelos, leaders, and parents to a theme-based summertime camping experience. So, come join us for a fun filled week at beautiful Camp Falling Rock for five days and four nights. All meals included. Program Overview Webelos Camp has much to offer your Scout this summer! This program is offered as a round-robin format so that all Scouts have the chance to experience each area of camp while working on the adventures awaiting! New in 2018: We ve added an additional week! 2018 Camp Dates With emphasis on having fun and enjoying camp, they will earn requirements often without realizing they are learning. Free time is scheduled so that they can return to an area they already enjoyed or venture out to explore a new area of camp, with guidance of course! Week 5 Week 6 Week 7 July July July 30 - Aug 3 Webelos Resident Camp will also help prepare Scouts for further adventures in Boy Scouts and the Resident Camp program.
9 Program Areas Various adventures from the Cub Scout program will challenge your Scouts on a whole new level. Although some program areas have prerequisites, Scouts can earn significant requirements for each and possibly earn all requirements. Please see the program guide for all requirements that can be earned. Adventures include: Webelos Walkabout Into The Woods Build It Aquanaut Adventure in Space Activites Include: Climbing & Rappelling Paddle Boarding Archery & BB Shooting Fishing Whittling, Chip & Fire Safety Swimming Nature Trails Campfires GaGa Ball Creek Walk/Explore Please register together with your den. 10 9 CUB SCOUT DAY CAMP CUB SCOUT DAY CAMP Day Camp is a summertime program for Cub Scout dens to get outside and do activities with friends from their pack. It s a fun and exciting camp experience and the first step in the camping progression. Scouts spend each day with the same group and visit a variety of program stations. At the end of the day they return home. It s a place for Cub Scouts to test themselves, participate in new activities, make new friends, learn something along the way, and have a ton of fun! 11 Program Areas Day camp is a fun-filled week of challenging Cub Scout activities, exciting adventures, and new friendships. Camp is open to all Cub Scouts who will be in the 1st through 4th grades as of June 1, Each camp offers multiple ACTION-PACKED DAYS filled with fun, learning, adventures, and more! Did you know? Your Scout and den can attend Day Camp even if your whole pack is not coming? Adventures include Archery, BB Shooting, Sling Shots, Field Sports, Arts and Crafts, Scout Skills, and more! All camps begin at 9am, but campers should plan to arrive by 8:30am. Each camp is over by 4pm each day. 12 11 STEM RESIDENT CAMP STEM CAMP If you are looking for an exciting summer camp experience for your Scout, you ve got to check out Camp Lazarus and our new STEM camp (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Scouts will learn new ideas, collaborate, and explore through hands-on STEM activities. There s nothing like this overnight camp! STEM Camp is designed to be fun and interactive. Scouts can choose from five Lab Adventures in the session that is appropriate to their grade level. The program is designed to have a small group dynamic, so your Scout can bring his or her friends, or make new ones! 2018 STEM Camp Dates Sign your Scout up today! Session #1 (Grades 2nd & 3rd) Session #2 (Grades 4th & 5th) July 5-8 July 9-12 Lab Adventures are limited to 25 Scouts. Sessions are grade appropriate and should reflect the grade your Scout will enter in the Fall.
13 Lab Adventures Robotics & Engineering Lab In our Robotics and Engineering Lab, Scouts will learn how to build, design, and evaluate structures using LEGO brick robots and award-winning software. This lab encourages creativity and imagination as Scouts brainstorm, build and experiment with amazing robots. Space Exploration Lab Shoot for the stars! Scouts will explore their interest in the planets, stars and space travel. Through a study of all that has been accomplished, Scouts will gain a sense of the importance, complexity, and wonderment of all that the future may hold. Drone Lab Drone Lab is all about hands-on learning, innovation, and adventure! Scouts will be introduced to drone operations and the evolving world of unmanned aircraft. Through instruction and actual flight operations, Scouts will take to the skies and learn how drones are being used in today s world. Chemistry Lab Dive into the spectacular side of science with the action-packed Chemistry Lab! Scouts will take part in hands-on experiments to study the properties of matter and chemical reactions. Learn about future careers and have a blast with this explosive, yet safe, lab! Biology Lab It wouldn t be camp without the outdoors! The Biology Lab takes Scouts on an adventure exploring the science of the woods. Focusing on environmental science, wildlife, and ecology, Scouts will have the opportunity to learn more about the environment, conservation, and sustainability. 14 13 CUB CAMPING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS CUB SCOUT DAY CAMP Q. Is financial assistance available? A limited number of Camperships are available to help cover the cost of Summer Camp for those most in need. March 1, 2018 is the deadline for submitting Campership applications are available during the registration process. Q. Are there discounts for attending both Webelos Resident and Day Camp? Yes, if you are participating in both camps, you will receive $10 off your resident camp fee. Q. What rank do I select when registering my Scout? Register based on the grade your Scout will be entering in Fall To register visit:
15 Q. What is the difference between Webelos Resident Camp and Day Camp? Webelos Resident Camp is an overnight experience that includes meals and tent camping. Each camp will offer separate crafts, sports, advancement, science activities and its own unique experiences. Day Camp is the first step in the camping progression ideally for Tigers, Wolves, and Bears. Scouts spend each day with the same group and visit a variety of program stations. At the end of the day they return home. Q. Do Tigers, (Scouts entering the first grade in the fall) need an adult partner to go to camp with them? Yes. BSA Policy requires Tigers to have an adult at camp with them. Q. Can Lions register for Day Camp? No. Future kindergarteners cannot participate in Day Camp. Q. What opportunities are available for Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts? Cub Scouts in 4th and 5th grade have a variety of camping opportunities to choose from. Scouts can attend Day Camp, but we encourage parents to consider what Webelos Resident Camp has to offer. Resident Camp offers a more age appropriate experience that prepares older Cub Scouts for the transition to Boy Scout Resident Camp.
