7 Week 5 Special: NOVA WEEK 2015 CAMP ROOSEVELT PROGRAM PREVIEW Specialty We are currently designing a new program at Camp Roosevelt. More information will be available online as soon as it is available. Be sure to check back often! ENERGY ELECTRICITY ROBOTICS NUCLEAR SCIENCE* And work on the completing two of the actual NOVA AWARDS: DESIGNED TO CRUNCH! And SHOOT! *Please Note: The above information is subject to change as the program is developed Roosevelt s Rangers Leadership Corps Training Program If you are 14 years old/ First class and think you might have any interest in becoming part of Roosevelt s program staff, then Roosevelt Rangers program is for you. Our Training Program provides scouts with the opportunity to be a part of the Roosevelt program staff on a trial basis. Participants in this program will live and work with several program areas during all 5 weeks of program. During their stay, about half of their time will be devoted to assisting in department work. During the other half they may participate in regular camp programs or take merit badges. Boys participating in this program grow in scouting skills, responsibility, and leadership. The skills they learn will strengthen your troop s program as well as provide our staff with the opportunity to assess the scout s potential to return as a full-time Roosevelt staff member. *The Rangers Leadership Corps program is currently looking for participants for the 2015 Summer Camping season. Scouts interested in their program for 2015 may apply during January Camp Staff Interviews and more information will be available on the Garden State Council website in the fall.* 7
8 Attending Camp as a Troop Camp Roosevelt offers a traditional experience for Troops to attend camp. Troops are assigned a campsite that serve as their home during their week. Scouts and Leaders will register for camp and their programs online via the unit contact. Troops may sign up for camp by completing & submitting the Declaration of Intent (available on the next page) Individually The Camp Roosevelt Provisional Program is designed to provide Scouts with the opportunity to attend Roosevelt without their troop. This can be a scout who had such a great time with his troop that he wants to return for an additional week, or a boy who wants to attend Roosevelt even though his troop will not be attending. The program provides a full time Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster. Scouts in this program are organized into patrols and will function as a troop, electing a Senior Patrol Leader on the first day. In the troop setting, Scouts work to attain their goals for the week. The troop participates in all camp-wide activities and even provides some special troop activities in the Provisional campsite just like a real troop! In recent summers, our Provisional troop has been very successful in inter-troop competitions and individual scout awards and recognitions. Pro-V, as the Provisional program is often referred to as, needs more enthusiastic Scouts to help continue its streak of success. The provisional troop s motto: Pro-V a place to be, Pro-V the place for me, Scouts interested in this program will be able to register online at in the spring All Inclusive Camper Fees What does camp cost? In 2013, the Camp Roosevelt all-inclusive fee was introduced as a means of making the fee structure for camp as simple as possible. Scouts are considered registered when they are paid for in full at the following rates: Before May 15, 2015: $ 355 After May 15, 2015: $ 380 This all-inclusive fee includes all necessary program materials for Scouts to complete their programs. Additional discounts may apply for Scouts attending Camp Roosevelt for multiple weeks. Special Incentive for returning units: Scouts whose units attended Camp Roosevelt in 2014, AND make their 2015 commitment (with site security deposit) prior to December 31 st, 2014 will be eligible to attend camp at the 2014 camp rates: Adult Leader Fees Before May 15, 2015: $345 After May 15, 2015: $370 Two adult leaders are required to be in camp at all times with every unit; two adult leaders therefore may attend Camp Roosevelt for free. One additional free adult is offered for each additional ten youth campers. Any additional adults may spend the week in camp at a significant discount. Number of boys in camp Number of free adults Cost for additional adults $
