2 CHAIRMAN S WELCOME I hope you all enjoyed the May Bank holiday weekend and are enjoying the sunshine. The rain was however welcome for the gardens. We camped at Blissford at our THS site which coincided with National Camping week. On Saturday afternoon, we put up gazebos and windbreaks for 40 people to enjoy a cream tea. Many people stayed and chatted. Thanks to Lynda/Chris Sawkins & Margaret/Dennis Legg for stewarding and helping with the teas & to Ian Fraser for bringing out the equipment needed and help. We unfortunately had a bad start to the month as our cat Poppy died. We think she had a brain tumour. She is now out of pain. On a positive note, our daughter is getting married next June at Fontwell Magna at the Springhead Trust. We are hiring the venue for the weekend. It is a lovely place manned by volunteers and everything is sustainable. I am looking forward to doing all the flower arrangements. Just a reminder that block bookings have closed for the SWRSM 2017 but you can still turn up 14 th /16 th July as room available. Also, pennon design needed for SWRSM 2018 that New Forest DA is organising at The Turnpike Showground, Gillingham. Theme is Film. If anyone has any cardboard from flat pack furniture could they save it for me please. I need about 12 pieces 3ftx 2ft. It is for the stage backdrop. A thank you to the stewards for June - Geoff/Judy Thomas, Derek/Margaret Pope, Marian/Alan Bown. Thank you to the people who replied reference sites. I cannot understand why a popular site such as Netley had only 13 units. Perhaps someone could shed some light on it. Is it because people like the site but would prefer it at a different time of the year ie September? There were also only 8 units out at Bushes Farm. I have not been able to camp much this month due to family and SWR/National meetings. Hope to be out at Carringtons. I hope some of you have been able to visit our new THS at Sandy Acres. It is always good to explore a new area. Marian our sites officer is working hard on 2018 sites list. There will be one or two different sites as well as ones not used this year. Enjoy your camping. Heather. New Forest DA Chairman The Editor is Dean Mueller-Davies, 127 Craigmoor Avenue, Bournemouth. BH8 9LT or davdee46@gmail.com Articles for the August issue must be with me by July 21 st 10am. Next Committee meeting is on July 19 th.

4 EMERGENCY WARD 10 Hello everyone, It has been quite a medical month for some of our stalwart members of the D.A. I have sent out 4 cards to:- Janet Setchell Jill Smith Roger Smith Ray Miller I don t know if they were intending to meet up for an impromptu Tea round the Pole recently, but both Janet and Ray found themselves in Poole Hospital at the same time (different Wards I hasten to add!) with Jill in a different hospital, and hubby Roger waiting to be referred. Come along now ladies and gentlemen!!!! this will not do!! We need you all back in the field fighting fit and fit and fighting, so our love and our best wishes go out to you all. Thank you to everyone who lets me know when one of our flock is poorly, just give me a ring or and I ll do the rest! Thought The broccoli said, I look like a small tree, The mushroom said I look like an umbrella, The walnut said I look like a brain, and the banana said Can we please change the subject!!. Margaret (Miller) ( ray.miller7@ntlworld.com)
5 450g White Chocolate 125g Digestive Biscuits 75g Pistachio Nuts, roughly chopped 115g Dried Cranberries 75g Mini Marshmallows 25g Desiccated Coconut Recipe - ROCKY ROAD SQUARES (Yes I know it s naughty.. just enjoy!!) Break the white chocolate into chunks and place in a microwaveable bowl. Microwave the chocolate in 30 second bursts, making sure to stir well between each to avoid burning. When the chocolate is smooth with no lumps remaining, spoon 4 tablespoons into a piping bag and set aside for decoration. Break the digestive biscuits into a large bowl and mix in 60g pistachios, 100g cranberries, the marshmallows and the coconut. Pour the remaining white chocolate over the top and mix gently until all of the dry mix is completely coated. Line a 22cm square brownie tin with cling film and press the rocky road mixture into the tin, making sure to get it right into the corners. With the piping bag, drizzle the reserved white chocolate over the top, then sprinkle over the remaining pistachios and cranberries. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before slicing with a sharp knife into approximately 24 even squares. This Rocky Road will keep for up to 2 weeks in an airtight container. KEEP!!?? ARE THEY BEING FUNNY!!?? Marg (Miller) Just another thought The best thing about me is I m a limited edition! There are no other copies!! (And I bet your re thinking thank goodness for that!!) Marg x WANTED Hello everyone Does anyone have a garden LOUNGER seat (with the big cushion) for sale. It is similar to the recliner seat except that the LOUNGER allows you to sit up with your legs either down, like a seat, or straight out in front of you. I used to use one every year when we stewarded at Parley. I have tried to find one but I only seem to find recliners, where, if the back reclines the feet up in the air!!! Not very comfortable if you re trying to knit!!! Many thanks Margaret Miller ray.miller7@ntlworld.com
