So far it looks like it's going to be quite a big rally as already we have 22 vans going at this stage. Activities (weather permitting) will be swimming, fishing, cycling, kayaking, bush walking, golf, green bowls and maybe catching the ferry across to Yamba for shopping or the odd cup of coffee. Craft for the ladies will have a small charge of $4.00 to cover the cost of materials etc. The ladies will also need to bring needle and thread, scissors, and a few pins. As it s going to be the clubs birthday once again we hope to celebrate the occasion with a special morning tea. The cost of the sites have been given at the pension rate of $33 a night, however for the front river sites an extra charge of $5 a night will be charged. All sites are within walking distance to the local shops with the main grocer being IGA How to Get There: When leaving home find the Bruce Highway and head south. Continue past Ballina for 69klms turning left onto the Iluka road which is before the crossing of the Clarence River. (Signs for Woombah) Continue 18klms before turning left onto Charles St. The Caravan Park is on your left. Bob & Carma Dennis & Roslyn 4 th Jan. 1 st Feb Something about Iluka: Iluka is a small village at the mouth of the Clarence River in New South Wales. It is situated directly across the river from the resort town of Yamba. At the 2006 census Iluka had a population of 1,739 people. The town's name is derived from an aboriginal word meaning "near the sea". It has long beaches on the ocean side of the river. It is reached by turning off the Pacific Highway approximately 20 kilometres north of Maclean. As Iluka is a popular tourist destination its population increases slightly in the holiday season with many Gold Coasters in the summer and Victorians in the winter.

2 Iluka also has a world heritage listed littoral rainforest. It is one of the last remaining littoral rainforests in the Southern Hemisphere. It contains many different plant species ranging from coastal dune species to tropical rainforest species. The Iluka rainforest has a vast range of native animal species ranging from wallabies and kangaroos to wombats and echidnas. Iluka is famous for the extremely rare coastal emu. Iluka is a fishing community with many commercial fishing industries, ranging from the oceangoing prawn and whiting trawlers to the river netters and trawlers. The river and beach netters can be seen hauling in mullet during the end of autumn. Iluka is also a very popular recreational fishing destination. 3 77 From The President s Desk The festive season is over and the caravanning season begins for Ian and Steve have put together an exciting and varied rally programme for 81 us all to enjoy starting with rally masters, Chris and Doug, taking us to Iluka 82 this month. Looking forward to the rally, catching up with you all and getting 83 out and about with fellow club members and friends. 84 February 4 th is our first club meeting for the year. We are looking for a Rally Master or Masters for this Rally. September Darling River Run Rally. The revised dates are from Friday 2 nd September (delayed one day due to our Monthly Club Meeting on Thursday 1 st September) and concluding at Yass on Saturday 1 st October. This extension in time is in-line with the agreement at the November Club Meeting. Ian thanks those club members that have offered suggested inclusions, some could be accommodated, but due to the overall time constraint, many could not. Ian will talk about the revised plan at the February club meeting and will plan a get together at Iluka for club members that intend to come on this rally. Page 6 of 8

7 Kerrie s Kitchen Nutella Cheesecake Makes 1 cake Prep Time: 20 mins Bake Time: None (refrigerate for at least 4 hours) Recipe Source: Nigella Lawson Ingredients: 10 Oz (280 g) graham crackers (digestive biscuits) 5 tablespoons soft unsalted butter 1 13-oz jar Nutella (at room temperature) ¾ cup chopped toasted hazelnuts 1 lb (450 g) cream cheese (at room temperature) ½ cup confectioners sugar (sifted) Method: Break the graham crackers (digestives) into the bowl of a processor, add the butter and 15 ml or 1 tablespoon of Nutella, and blitz until it starts to clump. Add 25g/3 tablespoons of the hazelnuts and continue to pulse until you have a damp, sandy mixture. Tip into a 23 cm/9-inch round springform and press into the base either using your hands or the back of a spoon. Place in the fridge to chill. Beat the cream cheese and confectioners sugar until smooth and then add the remaining Nutella to the cream cheese mixture, and continue beating until combined. Take the springform out of the fridge and carefully smooth the Nutella mixture over the base. Scatter the remaining chopped hazelnuts on top to cover and place the tin in the fridge for at least four hours or overnight. Serve straight from the fridge for best results. Page 7 of 8

Margaret River is the location for this Newsletter, and it is living up to 181 the hype and proparganda that is pushed onto all travellers as the place to see 182 and enjoy as you continue your journey down south. Today is the second day we 183 have encountered delivering rain, wind and a drop in temperature since leaving the 184 Sunshine Coast. On listening to the media today the Sunny Coast has been in the 185 firing line of storms with hail, strong winds and flooding.
