3 MOTIVATE CHALLENGE STRENGTH REJUVENATE Landscaping Committee Updates Providence Landscaping Whew! That s about all we can say at Providence Landscape Group right now. Like everyone, we are getting back on track from the snowballs Mother Nature has thrown at us recently. We are preparing for a busy and productive spring season at the Sanctuary and we are so happy to be providing our companies services to your community. You may have noticed Larry and the guys working throughout the community. We have a great team on site, and they are excited about the opportunities to make improvements to the landscaped areas within your community. We have completed soil testing, and have started making our first applications of fertility and pre-emergent. We have inspected the lighting systems, bio-retention ponds, and been up and down every trail and walkway within the community. We realize that we have a very steep learning curve, but we are up to the challenge and are committed to making the Sanctuary landscaping the best possible. Again, thank you for choosing us to be your landscape provider at the Sanctuary. We look forward to working with you and getting to know you at every opportunity as we work to improve your c ommunities landscaped areas. Sincerely, Your Providence Landscape Group Team Trails American Grading will complete (weather permitting) clearing our soft-trail system. The last, and perhaps worst, trails were Kingfisher South Fork and the continuation of Kingfisher to the sidewalk between Island Point and Flying Eagle. Several deteriorating bridges on Lightning Bolt have been replaced with soil-covered concrete pipe a low -impact, permanent stream crossing. Tanager Trail will be reopened after work on its wood structures is completed. Take a hike and enjoy our 20 miles of trails! Trash Before our area was developed, people dumped refuse here. Those dumps have been flagged and American Grading will remove them in the next few weeks. Should you come across anyone dumping trash, please call 911. Signs The next project for the Landscaping Committee is to purchase correct trail maps and to install trail markers at the unmarked trail-heads. Friendly Reminder: Please pick up after pets in Common Open Space and on trails. Dogs typically eat a commercial diet with lots of stuff not usually found in the environment added. Every little bit helps in the effort to keep Lake Wylie clean!

4 MOTIVATE CHALLENGE STRENGTH REJUVENATE Social & Event Updates Sanctuary Book Club new members welcome! The Sanctuary Book Club meets once a month with 2 goals to read and discuss books with neighbors, and to have a good time. We are a very low-key, friendly group of Sanctuary ladies. It s is a great opportunity to share a book you love with friends or to challenge yourself to read something you might not otherwise. Some recent books: The Art of Racing in the Rain, Freedom, In the Time of the Butterflies, Red Ink, Wild, Gone Girl, The Forgotten Garden, Lots of Candles, Plenty of Cake and Until Tuesday. If you would like to join, or just attend a meeting and see if it s for you, please Nancy Nyberg at nancy.j.nyberg@gmail.com or call her at Upcoming Events Lodge Hours (unless otherwise posted) March and April Monday Friday 10am 5pm Saturday 12pm 5pm Sunday 1pm 4pm Please Note: All Access Codes & Old Access Cards have been removed from the security system. If you have not already done so, please stop in to the Lodge to get set up with a new card. Also, the code on the keypad on the doors to the Lodge (formally 2&4,3,Enter) has been changed. Residents will now be able to access the Lodge with their card only. Local Area Events Tour DeFood Uptown 3/1 Charlotte Mardi Gras Parade of Beads 3/4 in Uptown Charlotte Checkers Home Game 3/30

5 ACHIEVE IMAGINE EXPERIENCE CREATE Reminder: All Access Codes & Old Access Cards have been removed from the security system. If you have not already done so, please stop in to the Lodge to get set up with a new card. Also, the code on the keypad on the doors to the Lodge (formally 2&4,3,Enter) has been changed. Residents will now be able to access the Lodge with their card only. Dear Neighbors: Trespassing Signs: The beautiful surroundings of the Sanctuary are the principal reason many of us purchased property here. Unfortunately, people who don t own lots have been trespassing, hunting, having bonfires, dumping garbage and trying to camp overnight without permission of the owner. The police have recommended that owners post No Trespassing signs on lots. When a lot is posted, the police can run off or arrest trespassers without having to call the property owner. This sign meets the requirements of the CC&Rs. Owners can purchase signs and have them installed for $45.90 per sign. North Carolina law states that signs must be posted not more than 200 yards apart on each accessible side of the property. Please call Kelly at the Lodge, or staff@thesanctuarylodge.com for more information.
