1 9 th Airedale Scout Group / Tenzing Explorer Scout Unit HAG DYKE Camp 22nd to 24th June 2018 Invite Dear Scouts, Explorers, Leaders, Parents & Guardians, Hag Dyke Camp Details This is your invitation to attend camp at Hag Dyke Hostel on the 22 nd 24 th June Hag dyke hostel is a Scout run facility on the slopes of Great Whernside near Kettlewell. The hostel is 1,525 feet above sea level and sits just below the summit of Great Whernside. It is the highest Scout Hut in the UK. It also has the highest Chapel in the UK. This promises to be an excellent weekend of fun and adventure. We are still in the process of arranging activities but we anticipate these to include: Caving, Walking and Geocaching. For more information please see the website - Programme Info and Booking details We have had difficulty arranging scout minibus s and so propose to hire a coach. The coach will depart from the grove at 5.30pm on Friday 22 nd June and return at 1.30pm on Sunday 24 th June.

2 2 Cost for the camp is 40- payable in advance. 3 3 The following items are recommended kit list for the weekend. It is strongly recommended that you let your Scout or Explorer pack, providing additional assistance where appropriate. This increases the likelihood of them knowing what is in their bag and equally important, where it is. This kit list is intended for staying indoors / outdoors in June. We have little control over the weather and Scouts should pack for warmth. Clothing & Footwear Packed? Personal Kit Packed? Underwear T-shirts for layers Socks Woollen sweater or fleece Long trousers Shorts Lightweight waterproof jacket Coat or fleece jacket Sleeping bag and mat Trainers Fleece or woollen hat Fleece or woollen scarf Wetsuit Swimming costume and towel Walking boots / Wellies Rucksack or holdall Torch with batteries Cup (plastic / enamel) Plate & bowl (plastic / enamel) Knife, fork & spoon Tea towel for drying dishes Washing kit and towel Medicine (pls hand to leader!) Sun Cream No more than 5spending money Important additional information: Please ensure all personal items are labelled with your child s name! Medicine should be clearly labelled with your child s name & handed to the designated First Aid leader. Asthmatics should carry their inhaler and provide a labelled spare to First Aid leader. Any electronic device taken to camp is at the risk of the owner. Leaders would prefer that no mobile phones are taken, but accept that some young people are unable to function without them, so are taken at owners risk.
