Contacts Lee & Val Shaw Sat HINCKLEY DAY RIDE-Ride out at 1 pm Rte. 606 parking lot - Contact Jim Wallace Mon MEMBERSHIP 7 CVC; Pot 6:30 pm >Event: Soup Night bring soup or side dish to share >Topic: Lottery for Hocking Hill s Campout -- October 12-14, 2018 Due to space availability, a lottery for Three Reasons Horse Camp s cabin & 7 campsites are conducted at January s meeting. - RULES FOR THE LOTTERY: Must be a member; ONLY ONE (1) entry per membership; Payment is due at this meeting! -CAMP SITE IS $90 -Campsite has water & electricity, fire rings and picnic table. Each campsite gets 2 horse stalls. (bring your own bedding, water pails, chain for stall gate, etc.) -CABIN IS $250-cabin has flush toilet, shower, full kitchen, sleeps 6 (double occupancy). 4 APRIL Sat NORTH CHAGRIN DAY 11 am Contact is Carole Kenyon Trailhead Directions: Park at Oxbow Trailhead. It is off of Oxbow Lane (across from Rogers Rd) which runs off of Chagrin River Rd. (Rte. 174) between Rt. 6 (Chardon Rd.) and Wilson Rd. Look for the driveway on the right after turning onto Oxbow Lane. Pack a Lunch EQUINE AFFAIRE at Columbus Fair Grounds Mon MEMBERSHIP CVC - Refreshments will be served >Topic: Trailer Maintenance by Harrison Ford s Trailer Division at 6:30 pm, Meeting to follow SMOKE RISE CAMPOUT-Join Brian & Carole Kenyon for all or part of these days at Smoke Rise-Contact Carole at Sat Scheduled TRAIL MAINTENANCE-Club volunteers needed to clean up the trails at Charlemont Reservation at 9 am, then we move to Wellington for trail maintenance there, finish@ Dairy Queen for ice cream. 5 MAY Sat CINCO DE MAYO DAY Wetmore 11 am-contact- Cheryl Muhek at Sat PIE EQ CTR - Ride out 10 am, meet at the enclosed pavilion at 12:30 pm for lunch, pie & coffee (bring pie or dessert to share). Pie Ride contact Sherry Hoover & OVERNIGHT CAMPING with your Carlisle Eq. Ctr. Contact for this event is Brenda Lang Group camping permit secured by club so there is no charge for our members to camp. Bring a tie line for your horses. Meeting area for coffee, pot luck, bonfire is at open Pavilion- Restrooms will be available/no showers or electricity, water available for horses-if weather agreeable, Black River Astronomical Society opens up their telescopes, so we can view the planets & stars. Pot Luck Dinner Saturday at 6:30 pm, bring a dish to share. (No camping on Friday Night, event is from Saturday-Sunday) EVENTS FOR THIS WEEKEND: >Scavenger Hunt on Saturday-Registration begins at 1 pm at the open pavilion and results must be turned in by 5:30 pm. Awards will be given out at the pot luck dinner. 6 JUNE CAMPOUT WEEKEND AT AEP, Conesville Horse Area, Coshocton. Ride on reclaimed mining land, primitive horse camp, bring water for both yourself & horse, no fee to camp, To ride this area you must print out a current (yearly) AEP RecLand Permit (AEP.com-Obtain a Permit), sign this permit and keep it on your person when you are riding. Also please register at the information board at the entrance of the campground so that the management of the AEP area know how many riders are using this area. (This information helps keep our bridle trails open.) Trails range from easy to difficult. Contact for AEP is Brenda Lang HARRISON COUNTY REGIONAL Harrison State Forest Contact for this event is Carole Kenyon Mon MEMBERSHIP MEETING & POT Carlisle EQ. CTR 6:30 pm, 7 pm >Topic: How to check if your tack fits your horse properly, by Sandy from Valley Tack. Will cover saddle, bit & bridle, breast straps & croupers PLEASANT HILL LAKE WEEKEND CAMPOUT-Located in Richland and Ashland Counties near Loudonville. Accessible by St Rte 39 or St Rte 603 to Rte 95. Reservations suggested but not required-if you do reserve a site you will be charged a reservation fee. Approx. 30 sites, water for horses, no electricity, porta-johns at horseman s campshowers & flush toilets at Area E. Everyone must use the high lines provided-manure must be placed in the bins provided. Potluck on Saturday. THIS IS A PROTECTED WATERSHED AREA-SWIMMING OF HORSES IN THE LAKE IS PROHIBITED-Trails lead to Malabar Farm. Liverpool, Ohio 43920, 59 primitive campsites, no reservations/first come/first serve; water, latrines and high-lines. (Advised to bring your own water for both you & your horse because you might have to walk a distance to get to the water at the campground) miles of bridle trails. 8 AUGUST CAMPOUT AT WEST BRANCH in Portage County, Ohio Primitive campsites, Moderate to challenging depending on weather, 20 miles of bridle trails, 10 non-elec. campsites, pit toilets, tie lines-bring own water. Contact: Sandy Shudy Directions to nearest main route: located off of Rocksprings Rd. Rocksprings Road runs N & S between SR 5 & SR 18. East of Ravenna WEEKEND AT BARK CAMP-Fee to camp (reservations suggested but not required), 22 campsites electricity available, porta-john on site, bathroom facilities at a nearby location, water for horses on site, 24 miles of bridle trails-moderate. Miles of trails, primarily logging, gas and mining roads. Wild elk roam area. Primitive or electric sites, shower house, communal kitchen-cost $25/night. Stalls available, call early to reserve. Directions take I- 80 East to St. 255 to St 555. Approx. driving time 4 hours. A 30 day health certificate & valid Coggins required.
