1 CAMPSITE 411 Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta, Inc. What is provided for us at each campsite/cabin? Although each living unit (tents or cabins) is unique, you can expect to find certain unit equipment in every unit which includes: cast iron for cooking over the fire (one large and one small each dutch oven and frying pans); one rake, metal bucket and broom; one-two shovels; fire extinguisher; three dish pans; one trash can; clearly posted directions to the nearest hospital and clearly posted emergency weather procedures. Some cabins come equipped with almost everything you need for your weekend including kitchens, others have basic cots or mattresses for sleeping only (you cook over the campfire). Most of our tent units have flush toilets, but some have latrines so read the description for each unit closely! Be sure to bring basic cleaning supplies with you each visit (to wash dishes & wipe down appliances and counters and clean the bathrooms). Each unit has a posted kaper chart for use when preparing for check out at the end of your visit. When do we submit our troop camping application? Changes to registration effective 4/1/2016. Registration opens on April 1 each year for Troop Camping for the entire Girl Scout year (October thru September). Be flexible! List more than one choice in each category camp, campsite, accommodations and dates. Make sure to list the camp trained adults on your application. When are the units available? Always double check the online availability to see when units are available. Council staff host events on site and many weekends are reserved for these programs. Cabin units are open year-round. Platform tent camping begins the first weekend of March and ends the weekend before Thanksgiving. How accessible are the units for people who use a wheelchair or have limited mobility? Accessibility is different at each camp and unit. Each campsite and many of the program areas are listed by camp and campsite so that you can determine if the unit will meet the needs of everyone in your troop/group. Every effort is made to accommodate needs if we have prior knowledge of the need, however we cannot guarantee that every area of the camps is barrier free or wheelchair accessible. Troop Camping Confirmation and Arrival Information Approximately 2-3 weeks after the opening registration date troops will receive an electronic confirmation with a payment coupon. One week before your troop camping weekend, the camp ranger will send you an electronic welcome to camp requesting your arrival time and confirming its your arrival. WHIPPOORWILL HILL Overnight: Maximum 28 people, warm months tents and cabin Overnight: Maximum 12 people, cold months cabin Day: Maximum 32 people Overnight fee (1 or 2 nights): $150 Day use fee: $75 No crafts containing glue, glitter, paint, wax or tie-dye central heat and air conditioning, fireplace. Full kitchen includes refrigerator, stove, pots, pans, dishes, utensils, garbage liners, coffee maker and toaster bring your own cleaning supplies. Full bathroom includes toilets, showers, toilet paper, hand soap and paper towels. Four Tree House cabins with heat and air conditioning, four bunk beds and mattresses in each (eight people per cabin). Outdoors Fire ring and picnic tables. Four platform tents, four cots and mattresses in each. Centrally heated building with view of the lake. Six bunk beds in the cabin for 12 people to sleep. Bathroom with showers and toilets. Partial kitchen includes a refrigerator, stove and sink. No other items are provided. Camp will provide toilet paper, paper towels and hand soap. Please bring your own heavy-duty garbage bags and cleaning supplies. Outdoor Fire ring and picnic tables. The restroom/shower house in this unit do not support female and male mixed group overnights. Most of this unit is largely accessible to a person using a wheelchair or with limited mobility. The general terrain is level and flat at the front with a hill at the back of the building. Entry into the front of the building is by concrete ramp entry from the rear is by steps only. Access to the fire ring is limited due to hilly steep terrain at the back of the building. Parking available for vehicles with valid parking permit. Please contact the ranger in advance to ensure access Entry into the bathroom is flat. There is one accessible toilet stall with raised stool and grab bars. The shower stall is roll-in with grab bars and a shower seat; flexible shower head with hose. The general terrain is rugged, hilly and steep. Entry into the front of the building is by ramp entry from the rear is by steps only. Access to the fire ring is level and open. Tent locations are on a hill, the tent closest to the building has ramp access. If needed a cot can be removed to allow additional room for movement in the tent. This unit is close to the parking lot. The most direct route to the building is by a steep gravel road. Entry into the bathroom is flat. Open-sided unit shelter with shower and bathroom facilities, picnic tables, charcoal grill, unit equipment, electricity, water, fire ring and additional rustic pavilion. Camp will provide toilet paper, paper towels and hand soap. You must provide your own, heavy-duty garbage bags and cleaning supplies. Most of this unit is accessible to a person using a wheelchair or with limited mobility. The general terrain is level and flat. Additional assistance may be required by persons using a wheelchair for mobility to reach the unit shelter that has a two inch step up; the fire ring is open and easy to access. One of the cabins has a low ramp allowing easy wheelchair entry. Parking available for vehicles with valid parking permit. Please contact the ranger in advance to ensure access. Ice, water faucet and refrigeration equipment not available unless arranged in advance. Use of the dining hall does not include use of the kitchen. This building is largely accessible to a person using a wheelchair or with limited mobility. The general terrain is mostly level and flat for entry purposes. Parking is available close by and access to the front of the building is on paved road and path. Entry into the accessible bathroom is flat and there is one toilet with raised stool and grab bars. DINING HALL - lower level Day: Maximum 50 people Day use fee: $150 building only No crafts containing glue, glitter, paint, wax or tie-dye PROGRAM CENTER SCREENED AREA ONLY Day: Maximum 75 people Day use fee: $50 Centrally heated building. Tables and chairs available for use. Bathroom facilities. Use of the lower dining hall does not include access to the upper floor. Large rectangular covered screen area with concrete floors. Tables and chairs provided if requested. This unit does not have a bathroom. If rented by itself, a $50 charge will apply so that portapotties can be provided. This unit is largely accessible to a person using a wheelchair or with limited mobility. The general terrain is mostly level and flat with exterior entry by ramped sidewalk. Ramp is long and curved with a gentle slope. There is also access by steep rugged trail with exposed roots or by stairwell. This unit is close to the parking lot. Entry into the bathroom is level and flat. There is one accessible toilet stall with raised stool and grab bars. This building is largely accessible to a person using a wheelchair or with limited mobility. The general terrain is mostly level and flat for entry purposes with both ramp and step access. There is limited vehicle access to the entrance of this unit. Please contact the ranger in advance to discuss. There are no bathroom or shower facilities in this unit. AMPHITHEATRE Day: Maximum 200 people Day use fee: $50 Rustic benches with fire ring and stage large area lighting. This unit does not have a bathroom. You will have access to the pool house facility. This unit is accessible to a person using a wheelchair or with limited mobility. The amphitheater is terraced; however entry to one or more levels is possible using a level dirt and mulch trail. Entrance to the stage area for a person using a wheelchair or who has limited mobility is achieved using a short railed ramp with one turn.
