SHAW FESTIVAL AT NIAGARA ON THE LAKE --Sylvia Johnson The University of Akron s Women s Club is once again sponsoring a trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada in The hotel and town are enough reason to visit but the main attraction is the Shaw Festival. Last year our group saw at least three plays, some folks saw four or five. The plays offered to the group were, Guys and Dolls, Enchanted April, Our Betters and Trifles. We all had a favorite. There was plenty of time to visit the charming shops and many found treasures to bring home. It was a good thing we had plenty of room on the bus. Some folks rode bikes, took a wine tour, saw more plays and some lounged by the lake. Many choices are available. The Prince of Wales Hotel is a beautiful 1860 s Victorian building with modern amenities. A rose-on-your-pillow kind of hotel. Personally, I have taken groups to N-O-T-L and the Shaw Festival for almost 20 years. The whole place still amazes me. The gardens in the town are incredible with plantings taller than people. A short walk takes you to a large park overlooking the Niagara River where it joins Lake Ontario. And the plays you need to see to believe.
3 Just a few hours from home we are transported to Niagara-on-the-Lake where we ll enjoy world class theatre, the number one food and wine destination in Canada, history, shopping and natural wonders. Please join us October 1, 2 & 3, 2014 to be a part of this wonderful getaway. Read further for all the details! The trip in 2013 earned $4, for the scholarship fund of the UA Women s Club. What an easy and enjoyable way to support students at The University of Akron.
