We have watched this chapter grow so much, in attendance and reputation (????). We have seen the meaning of friendship and teamwork brought to light. We have seen that it is not just one person that makes a chapter, but the unit as a whole that has brought FL2-D where it is today. In October of 2000, there were 21 members, of these 21, at most meetings, that first year, ten to twelve were the most in attendance. What changed this????? You yes you the members. By word of mouth, by reaching out and welcoming each new member. Making them feel like part of a group. No wait. wrong word.. Like part of a family. Now FL2-D stands at an all time high in members, eighty seven at last count. Thanks to each of you. Looking back, you have been there at the call. There were times, in the beginning, we would get discouraged and wonder if this was going anywhere, you came through. 2 That first "FOUR CHAPTER BREAKFAST", on a cold January morning, when we looked up and all of you were there to pitch in. We can't tell you the pride we felt and knew then, this chapter was growing. We felt that same pride when our treasury was low and we need a garage sale. You donated sale items and your time to make it a success. The hot dog sales you all helped make fun and again, a success. But the greatest moment came when the call went out to help a fellow member move. OH BOY did you ever answer the call. These are just a few of the things that show FL2-D has moved forward as a team and we hope you will keep it up. We both thank you so much. Now the time has come to pass the torch of leadership to Charlotte Mercer, and so for the last time we are asking all of you to give your full support and backing to her. We both know she will do a fantastic job and FL2D, will fly on. He picked it up and rubbed it, and out popped a genie. The genie said, "OK, You released me from the lamp. This is the fourth time this month, and I'm getting a little sick of these wishes so you can forget about three... You only get one wish!" The man sat, and thought about it for a while and said, "I've always wanted to go to Hawaii, but I'm scared to fly, and I get very seasick. Could you build me a bridge to Hawaii so I can drive over there to visit?" The genie laughed and said, "That's impossible!!! Think of the logistics of that! How would the supports ever reach the bottom of the Pacific? Think of how much concrete -- how much steel!! No, think of another wish." The man said, "OK, I'll try to think of a really good wish." Finally, he said, "I've been married and divorced four times. My wives always said that I don't care and that I'm insensitive. So, I wish that I could understand women, know how they feel inside, and what they're thinking when they give me the silent treatment. Know why they're crying, know what they really want when they say "nothing, know how to make them truly happy." The genie said, "Do you want that bridge to be two lanes or four?"

She says she's going to Europe on business for two weeks and needs to borrow $5,000. The bank officer says the bank will need some kind of security for the loan, so the blonde hands over the keys to a new Rolls Royce. The car is parked on the street in front of the bank; she has the title, and everything checks out. The bank agrees to accept the car as collateral for the loan. The bank's president and its officers all enjoy a good laugh at the blonde for using a $250,000 Rolls as collateral against a $5,000 loan. An employee of the bank then drives the Rolls into the bank's underground garage and parks it there. Two weeks later, the blonde returns and repays the $5,000 and the interest, which comes to $ The loan officer says, "Miss, we are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely; but we are a little puzzled. We checked you out and found that you are a multimillionaire. What puzzles us is - why would you bother to borrow $5,000?" The blond replies..."where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $15.41 and expect it to be there when I return?"

4 Safety Educator WAKE UP and PAY ATTENTION!!! It s a rainy night, the four lane intersection is not very well lit on a busy main thoroughfare. Adding to the confusion, the roadway that we are turning onto has been diverted, therefore, there are temporary white and yellow lane guides, not to mention hundreds of those big reflective orange barrels held down by old truck tires with blinkies on top of them. I m in the right turn lane and there is a SUV in the lane to my left. Since we are on a side road, the wait for the light is long having just missed the previous green light. Each morning and evening on this road is an adventure, because you never know what part of the 4 lane you will be driving on next. Will it be 1 lane? Will it be 2 lanes? Will it be to the right? Left? You just never know. Most of the construction is performed at night, during which time, the construction workers sit around drinking Dunkin Donut coffee and eating Dunkin Donuts in the soft glow of light from a front end loader cascading across the demolished roadway and plan how to screw up yet another roadway and morning commute. They must really love their jobs because they do it so well. Each morning it is like playing another game of hide and seek. Where s the road this morning???? Oh S*&^ IT s Over there.. You get the picture. Like I was saying, it was a rainy night with lot s of tired commuters trying to get home, and not really in the mood for hide and seek. Bozzo in the SUV next the me, must have taken the 2 ½ minute wait at the light to pick his nose, talk on the cell phone, or maybe catnap. I m not sure just which one it was, but I m sure waking up and paying attention is not the correct answer. The light turns green. Now, remember we have been sitting at the light for at least 2 ½ minutes, with plenty of time to stare out at the perfectly placed, bright orange barriers with blinkie on top. Thank goodness for GWRRA motorcycle training. Always plan for vehicles to do the unexpected. Always have an out. Separate incidents in time and space and deal with each one separately. You have probably guessed it already, but Mr. BOZZO, starts to turn as soon as the light turns green, and it is quite apparent that he wants to beat me through the turn. Getting a slight jump on me by about three feet, he starts his turn, when all of a sudden he becomes confused OF COURSE, he s BOZZO. Instead of making a smooth left turn, instead of spending his time at the light observing where the lane was, instead of observing 10,000,000 large bright orange, 55 gallon drums with 6 intensely reflective strips encircling them, directly in front of him, and did I mention the Blinkies??? Mr. Bozzo, yes, I m calming down, does a slight turn to the left and then for some unthinkable reason starts to go straight. Why in the world, all of sudden he thinks that this is a game of pick which 55 gallon drums to squeeze his SUV between, is beyond me. Maybe while picking his nose, he scrapped out some of his good sound reasoning and judgment brain cells out of Bozzo s tiny brain. Again, thank you GWRRA for the excellent training that is provided, and particularly to the Florida District Rider Education program which provides this training to all of it s members in good standing at absolutely no cost. Take advantage of it. The sequence of events were as follows. Bozzo accelerates into the intersection. I have already surveyed the situation and have noticed that they have re-arranged the road markers such that we do not go all the way to the right where the road use to be, but the turn lane is much sharper and in what use to the be the oncoming traffic lanes. I realize that the turn is sharper that it use to be, I adjust my entry speed accordingly, remember it is a rainy night. Bozzo changes coarse directly for

5 the biga## barrels. I separate time and space and deal with the now oncoming Bozzo. I steer to the right, straighten and slow down. I know that the monster barrels are just ahead of me. Mr. I m so CONFUSED BOZZO, goes right, goes left, goes right, and picks gap between barrels 343,394 and 343,395. I have slowed as to miss him and not hit the barrels. He makes it through the barrels without touching them. He must be proud that his driving skills enabled him to avoid an accident and tactfully navigate a large barge through a tiny porthole. The lesson here is not that am a good driver, but that I have been well trained for which I am very thankful. The main point to remember, is that all of this happened in a matter of seconds. I did not have time to go through all of the above in my head during this small span of time, but because of training and PRACTISE year after year, I was able to accomplish all of the above INSTINCTIVELY. And above all, I did not pucker up, did not panic, nor was my heart racing, because I handled it INSTINCTIVELY putting motorcycle TRAINING and PRATICE into all of my driving habits. I was driving my truck at the time. Not the motorcycle. The training we receive applies to whatever mode of transportation we choose. Training and PRACTICE are very VALUABLE and AVAILABLE. There is no other organization that will provide training, whether it be a 4 wheel, 3 wheel, or 2 wheel vehicle, reliably and FREE. Take advantage of it. Believe it or not. The story is not over. Guess what Bozzo does next!!! Bozzo has perfectly navigated the barrel weave set up for him by the scheming coffee drinking, donut eating construction workers. I on the other hand have now continued on the correct path of roadway and am just ahead of Bozzo, who by the way is still navigating various other obstacles, though now I am on the left and Bozzo is on the right with a separation of about 20 feet between us. I m figuring the more the separation the better. avoiding other miscellaneous obstacles, not to mention he has to pass through another wall of biga## 55 gallon barrels, bright orange, 6 reflective..you get the picture, directly in front of him again. The road that I am on, merges back to the right, in the path of Bozzo, now travelling on what I would describe as a hiking path. Bozzo navigates the barrels, getting back in front of me. By this time I am dying laughing. What a butt head!!! Does it end there.of course not. I m behind Bozzo for another 75 feet, and he turns right What a major butthead!!!. Not only was Bozzo confused, he had already planned to make the turn from the left hand turn lane, only to immediately cross back in front of me, in the right hand turn lane to make the next short distance right hand turn..wake UP BOZZO. I would also like to mention that the training also applies to the Co-rider. My co-rider Deb, who is also very well trained over many years, was in separate car directly behind me. She INSTINC- TIVELY reacted to my change in direction and immediate slowed down. Without proper training, she could have rammed me in the back, because I had to come to a quick unplanned stop. Again, Thank You GWRRA for providing some of the best training that is available!!! 10 The kids filed back into class Monday morning. They were very excited. Their weekend assignment was to sell something, then share with the class how they were successful. Little Mary led off, "I sold girl scout cookies and I made $30," she said proudly, "my sales approach was to appeal to the customer's civil spirit and I credit that approach for my success." "Very good," said the teacher. Little Sally was next, "I sold magazines," she said, "I made $45 and I explained to everyone that magazines would keep them abreast of current events." "Very good, Sally," said the teacher. Eventually, it was Little Johnny's turn. The teacher held her breath. Little Johnny walked to the front of the classroom and dumped a box full of cash on the teacher's desk. "$2,467" he said. "$2,467!" cried the teacher, "What in the world were you selling?" "Toothbrushes," said Little Johnny. "Toothbrushes?" echoed the teacher, "How could you possibly sell enough toothbrushes to make that much money?" "I found the busiest corner in town," said Little Johnny, "I set up a chocolate chip cookie stand and gave everybody who walked by a free sample. They all said, This tastes like POOP!"
