1 FL-2D HARBOR CITY WINGS MELBOURNE, FLORIDA March 2010 GOLD WING ROAD RIDERS ASSOCIATION Chapter Director comments: This month is going to be a busy one! At least the first two weeks. Our annual hot dog sales started February 26 and will run through 7 March. I want to thank everyone that has volunteered with the sales. Hopefully, the weather will been kind to us. We ll have a couple of days between the Goldwing Getaway and the start of the FL District Rally in Kissimmee. It will start March 11 and go through March 13 th. Maybe one of us will get lucky and win a new goldwing (wouldn t that be nice). We ll be leaving Thursday morning in order to get there to man the registration desk. If anyone wants to show up and help, you are more than welcome to. If you have never been to one of the district s rally you should try and participate. I think you ll enjoy it. Mike and I look forward to it every year. We had a few good rides last month. On 6 February we went to St. Cloud for Lunch at Cheese Stake. We filled the restaurant with 25 people (it s a small diner with great sandwiches). February 10 th, 12 members rode down to Stuart. We delivered them a hot potato so gracelessly donated to us by the Titusville Meetings - First Tuesday of each Month Currently meeting at : MeMaws on Babcock in Palm Bay. Eat, Chat and Mingle at 6:00pm. We had a nice movie & dinner gathering on February 14th. There was a lunch ride on February 20, to Shrimp R Us, in Welaka. There were 8 bikes and 12 members which met up with the Daytona Chapter for lunch. Ten members rode in the Brevard County Humane Society Molly Mutt Charity Poker run on 21 February. We had to send a scout (Harry & Lynn) to find one of the stops; all in all I think everyone enjoyed themselves. I will not be at the March gathering so hope to see you all sometime during the month. Stu said, 'I didn't sleep with my wife before we got married, did you?' Leroy replied, 'I'm not sure, what was her maiden name?' 'Mr. Clark, I have reviewed this case very carefully,' the divorce Court Judge said, 'And I've decided to give your wife $775 a week,' 'That's very fair, your honor,' the husband said. 'And every now and then I'll try to send her a few bucks myself.' A doctor examining a woman who had been rushed to the Emergency Room, took the husband aside, and said, 'I don't like the looks of your wife at all.' 'Me neither doc,' said the husband. 'But she's a great cook and really good with the kids.' 2

MIKE AND PAT DUQUETTE SENIOR CHAPTER EDUCA- TORS RAY AND MERCIER ASSISTANT CHAPTER EDUCATORS WHEN YOU PUT AIR IN YOUR TIRES, THE PLASTIC THING THAT HOLDS THE VALVE RIGID NEEDS TO BE CHECKED. IT CAN BREAK WHICH WILL CAUSE THE VALVE TO BEND UP AT HIGH SPEEDS. THE VALVE CRACKS THEN, AND LETS THE AIR OUT. PASS IT ON T-CLOCK CHECK : Tires and wheels, Controls, Lights and electrics, Oil and fluids, Chassis, Kickstand. CHECK THE TIRE WEAR INDICATOR. SOME PEOPLE DON T KNOW WHAT IT IS. WHEN YOU SEE THAT YOU HAVE 2/32NDS OF TREAD LEFT, YOU NEED NEW TIRES. IT S NOT GOOD IN THE RAIN AND IT ALSO LOOSES COOLING ABIL- ITY. THE TIRE HEATS UP AND WILL WEAR OUT VERY FAST. SOME MIGHT THINK I HAVE ANOTHER 2000 MILES LEFT BUT WILL ONLY GET A FEW HUNDRED. PASS IT ON. MAYBE IT S SOMETHING YOU WERE TAUGHT AT A PARK- ING LOT PRACTICE, A ROAD CAPTAINS COURSE, OR AN ERC COURSE YOU PARTICIPATED IN. IT COULD BE THE BENEFITS OF A CB RADIO ON YOUR BIKE (IT HELPS A LOT WHEN RIDING IN A GROUP AND IT S SAFER). PASS IT ON. WHAT ABOUT THE THINGS YOU LEARNED ABOUT RIDING WHEN IT S COLD OR HOT. REMEMBER HYPOTHERMIA AND HYPERTHERMIA. WEAR COOL COLLARS TO KEEP COOL. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER. USE LAYERS OF CLOTHING TO KEEP WARM. PASS IT ON. NOT EVERYONE HAS THE SUPPORT OF GWRRA FRIEND S FOR FUN SAFETY AND KNOWLEDGE, LIKE WE DO WITH OUR EDUCATORS AND FREE SAFETY SEMINARS, FREE ERC COURSES, FREE CPR AND FIRST AID. There are 5 enemy ships on the horizon." The captain tells the man," Get my red coat and prepare for battle!" The assistant runs without question to get the captains red coat and prepares for battle. After their victory the assistant asks the captain why he wanted his red coat. The captain tells the assistant "If I was shot you would not be able to tell I'm bleeding and you would keep fighting." The assistant thought this was a great idea. The next day the assistant came to the captain, "Sir! Sir! There are twenty enemy ships on the horizon!" The captain was stunned. He looked at the assistant and told him "Get me my brown pants!" - A blonde calls Delta Airlines and asks, 'Can you tell me how long it'll take to fly from San Francisco to New York City?' The agent replies, 'Just a minute.' 'OK. Thank you,' the blonde says, and hangs up. 5

14 Farmer Joe decided his injuries from the accident were serious enough to take the trucking company (responsible for the accident) to court. In court, the trucking company's fancy lawyer was questioning farmer Joe. "Didn't you say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine?," questioned the lawyer. Farmer Joe responded, "Well I'll tell you what happened. I had just loaded my favorite mule Bessie into the..." "I didn't ask for any details," the lawyer interrupted, "just answer the question. Did you not say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine!'" Farmer Joe said, "Well I had just got Bessie into the trailer and I was driving down the road..." The lawyer interrupted again and said, "Judge, I am trying to establish the fact that, at the scene of the accident, this man told the Highway Patrolman on the scene that he was just fine. Now several weeks after the accident he is trying to sue my client. I believe he is a fraud. Please tell him to simply answer the question." By this time the Judge was fairly interested in Farmer Joe's answer and said to the lawyer, "I'd like to hear what he has to say about his favorite mule Bessie." Joe thanked the Judge and proceeded, "Well as I was saying, I had just loaded Bessie, my favorite mule, into the trailer and was driving her down the highway when this huge semi-truck and trailer ran the stop sign and smacked my truck right in the side. I was thrown into one ditch and Bessie was thrown into the other. I was hurting real bad and didn't want to move. However, I could hear ole Bessie moaning and groaning. I knew she was in terrible shape just by her groans. Shortly after the accident a Highway Patrolman came on the scene. He could hear Bessie moaning and groaning so he went over to her. After he looked at her he took out his gun and shot her between the eyes. Then the Patrolman came across the road with his gun in his hand and looked at me. He said, "Your mule was in such bad shape I had to shoot her. How are you feeling?" A special thanks to our members who submit articles. We love the support and the good information.
