2 Chapter FL1-H Page 2 Our Couple of the Year COUPLE OF THE YEAR October was a little slow, we did the breakfast at the Elks. We went to Alfie s for breakfast on the 14th. We had a successful yard sale at Irene s on the 27th. I bought a casket made out of some flimsy material and made a costume with it, I cut a hole in the front for my face and holes for my hands it was for our Halloween party that night at our park. It came out pretty good everyone liked it, Ron whited his face and wore a mardi gras vest and top hat he looked like a ghost funeral director. We had a good time. RON & RHEA DESROSIERS 2

I want to thank everyone who helped at the breakfast. Our turn out was low, but we all had a great time. Then the following week was our yard sale, it is great to be able to park my car in the garage again. We ended up with three trailer loads of stuff and one full garage. I want to thank everyone who gave us stuff for the yard sale, and everyone who came to help the day of the yard sale. You all did a great time. I know all of you are excited and getting ready for your cruise, I know you will all have a great time. Please check the calendar for November, we kept it small because of the holiday and we know a lot of you will be out of town. 4 Chapter FL1-H Page 4 Joining and Belonging Jerry Wells How many of you are aware of what roadside benefits are available to you free of charge for your motorcycle or trike? You can have your motorcycle or trike towed up to 10 times a year and up to 35 miles per tow by simply being a member of GWRRA. You have service from towing companies 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Included are hotel discounts, travel discounts, auto rental discounts, auto rental reimbursements, map service, and trip interruption reimbursement up to $300 per interruption. This is all free to every member of GWRRA. Where can you find a bargain like that. Now if you want to enhance this offer, for $12 a year you can increase the towing distance to 100 miles per tow. This is not available to non members of GWRRA and for motorcycles and trikes only. To further enhance the offer, for $35 per year you can include cars, trucks, and motorcycle trailers. If you have a family membership it includes all registered family members. This is called Rescue Plus. It also includes battery service using a booster to attempt to start the vehicle. Delivery of fuel, oil, water, or other accessories or supplies as may be required. You pay only the cost of materials delivered and limited to $100 per disablement. Locksmith services included if your keys are lost or locked inside the vehicle. For non members of GWRRA the price is $80 per year. If you have an RV and want it included the price is $80 per year for GWRRA members and $120 for non members with a limit of $300 per tow. If you still aren t convinced and would rather stay with one of those other companies lets look at AAA. AAA has an enrolment fee of $15, annual fee of $97, you get 4 tows per year, $51 per household member, and $25 to include your motorcycle. Rescue Plus includes all this free and gives 10 tows per year. This means AAA is $290 a year compared to $35 for Rescue Plus and includes all registered family members. Check it out. All of this information is available on the GWRRA web site. I have Rescue Plus and have used it three times. Never for my trike every time it was my car. Still a great bargain. I am getting ready for the cruise on Nov 4th there are a lot from our chapter going so I know we will have a lot of fun. I hope we do not have an experience like they just had on a Carnival ship with the ship rolling to one side,they said it was an electrical problem with the ships stabilizers. The weather is now changing so I think we will be able to get more people to ride the bikes that have been in the garage all summer, don't forget to check your bike good before you ride. PROTECTION FROM ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT. Nearly all sunglasses seem to do this, even the cheep ones, but don't buy ones that are not labeled as providing UV protection. UV mostly comes in as direct light and most every face shield has a level of UV protection. Even if not advertised as such, apparently there is a chemical compound contained within a polycarbonate face shield that stops UV light- but because they don't want UV to degrade your plastic shield. So if you keep it partially shut you will have UV skin protection as well. Bottom line make sure you have a good pair of sun glasses. 9 Public Relations Linda McGinnis What a great cruise for FL1-H members. We had 15 members go with us for 6 days of fun and laughter that our sides hurt. Now is the time of year we get extremely busy with Christmas parades, parties, new chapter couple of the year, our Military adopted Christmas Family, Santa visits and of course, Shrimp R Us January 1st. I have included the Christmas Family list for this year. Please begin collecting items for them. Coordinate with me so no one doubles on items. We will be delivering to our family December 22nd. Please plan on going with us for this special time.
