We will try to highlight things of interest to all, and have guests from time to time. February 7 March 7 April 4 May 2 June 6 No meeting in December or January at Museum July 4? NO MEETING! DUES REMINDER From your MEMBERSHIP CHAIRMAN Lloyd King Once again it is the time to pay for our association. Our dues have held the line for many years, and for this year we will stay at $ Last year was a verygood year for membership; we ended the year with 86 members, and that is the most the San Diego Region has had in its history. You should have renewed your National Membership already. This is your reminder to renew with your local club. To do this, before you forget it, please drop your check in the envelope I sent you, and mail it to: Lloyd King 3267 Mohican Avenue San Diego, Calif PRESIDENT's MESSAGE DEAR MEMBERS HAPPY NEW YEAR and BEST WISHES for 1990! The membership/installation brunch was an outstanding success with 34 members and guests and TEN PACKARDS even on a rainy day! You will note a very special award was made again this year. The Pete Bradley Award was established in 1988 and given for the first time in January Pete believed that Packards should be driven. The Board established FOUR criteria to be used in determination of the award. Two of those criteria; bringing cars to meetings and to events, can be measured if we have someone keep good records. This year the minutes will include those persons who drive their PACKARDs to meetings and the PREDICTOR will list those persons driving to the events. This will make the President's decision based on very clear information on these two items. The last announcement of the day was a request for participants to enter the Le Cercle Concours d' Elegance. This year PACKARDS will be featured. It is being held in the Wilshire District of Los Angeles on 23 September 1990; please read the letter of invitation and let me know if you are interested in /~, attending. -ears will be judged oniy- if you -wish, and they need not be show quality to be in attendance. Let's bring home some of those trophies! Happy Packarding. Remember, being involved makes the difference. Respectfully, BJ. 4 .... ', ECCF serving the community since 1965 Dec. 21, 1989 B. J. Hill President - San Diego Chapter Packards International A Dunbrook Rd. San Diego, CA Dear B. J.: This letter is a follow-up to today'~ phone conversation, in which I told you of Le Cercle's plans for our September 23rd, 1990 show. Le Cercle formed a partnership last year with the well established Eddie Cantor Charitable Foundation, of which I am a director. I am also an 18 year member of Le Cercle, and as of next month I am also a director on its board. Our show in September was a big success, and I am enclosing a copy of a story that appeared in the L.A. Times the day before the show. I am a friend of the automotive editor there, and was responsible for their doing the story. I am also enclosing one of our programs. from that show, in which an insert was put in with the list of the 200 cars plus 24 motorcycles that appeared. For 1990 we want to start featuring a particular car, and we have --'--decided ' to start wi'ih Packard. I have contacted the Southern California chapter of Packards International, and it was suggested that in order to do our most complete job that I would want to also be talking to your chapter, which I am happy to do. <hough we will b~ featuring Packard, and quite naturally we will want as many nice examples as we can obtain, everyone need no t be_ a Classic, and they need not be in Concours condition. We would be pleased 'to have pre- or post-classic examples~ and cleaner unrestored or older restoration are most welcome. Please pass this part of the invitation to your fellow members, as we do not want that misunderstood. We will have judging with ample trophies available, and if:. your group wants your cars judged exclusively by your own judges that is fine. Otherwise I will assure you our judging team is qualified and will judge with complete impartiality. Let us know what it would take to have your involvement in our show on September 23rd. We will do most anything to have your cars at the show! ~~~ J;.:rry Fields Show Co-Chairman Eddie Cantor Charitable Foundation 9869 Santa Monica Blvd, Suite 205 Beverly Hills, CA (213) FAX (213) J
