Directors Corner I called a Board Meeting on Monday, May 6 th at 7:00pm at the Traders Village recreation room. All elected officials (4 officers and 3 Board Members) were requested to attend. Committee Chairs especially those that can contribute to the discussion were encouraged to attend. The agenda includes a discussion of SJR Club issues concerning the Budget, Swap Meet, Christmas Party and the Joint Tour. The minutes of the meeting may be published in the May Newsletter. If not, then the June issue for sure. The Burton Parade was well attended with 11 old Chevy s plus one 1950s Jeep. We had plenty of Burton Sausage, side dishes and desserts at the Bradfords Barn Party. Attendance was down a little from last year despite beautiful weather and spectacular wild flowers. Many thanks to the Bradfords for hosting this event/meeting over the past many years. The next event/meeting will be held on Saturday June 8 th brothers. hosted by the Conroy We are thrilled to be invited to the Conroy s near Trinity for a fish fry on Saturday, June 8, They have been doing a lot of fishing and plan to fry fish and prepare everything that goes with it. All we have to bring is an appetite, old Chevy (if possible) and maybe a lawn chair or two. It is rumored that a special reward will be given Cathy Sweet, SJR Director

2 Secretary s Reports (Sheila Bradford) Minutes from the SJR, April meeting at Burton. The April meeting of the San Jacinto Region VCCA was held after the Cotton Gin Parade and Lunch in the Bradford s Barn on April 20, Cathy Sweet (Director) called the meeting to order. The Secretary s Report, prepared and submitted by Bryan Felt, of the March Meeting at Trader s Village was approved as written. The Treasurer s Report was presented by Chip Sweet included membership receipts for 8 new members and expense for new canopy of $ A motion to approve the Treasurer s Report was made by James Blanton and seconded by Carolyn Couch. The Swap Meet Report was presented by Debbie Boyer who submitted to the Board a sheet 2013 Swap Meet Receipts, Expenses, & Disbursements which will be kept on file by the Treasurer. In addition, a letter of commendation came from the Trader s Village Food Service Manager complimenting us on the Swap Meet. Thanks to Debbie and her crew for a job well done! Debbie s organization and recruitment of helpers by James Blanton made the event run smoothly. James will meet with Trader s Village next Friday to discuss the 25 th Anniversary Swap Meet, which will be in Unfortunately, someone broke into our storage unit (and the one next to it) and stole the black scooter and high dollar light bulbs. Gary Groschke said they luckily didn t steal the electrical wiring for the new AutoRama display. There followed some discussion on a better locking system, but no decisions were made. In New Business, Cathy Sweet (Director) is calling a Board Meeting on Monday, May 6 th, 7 PM at Trader s Village. Board Members need to be present, but any member can attend. In addition, Bill Bradford gave a report on Activities. Bryan Felt was attending a state-wide Lincoln Meet in Salado. The following activities are planned: Annual Memorial Barbeque at the home of Billy Kelley on Saturday, May 18 th, a Catfish Fry at the home of Mike & Richard Conroy on Saturday, June 8 th, beginning at 10:30 AM, the Mid-America 4 Cyl. Tour in Shipshewana, Indiana, hosted by Harry & Barb Gigous, the SW Fall Tour in Canon City, Colorado in Mid-August, the Area 6 Joint Tour, Sept nd in Galveston, Texas, and the Fall Tour in Mid-October in Rolla, Missouri, hosted by Gene & Kaye Meara. Also in New Business, Kristin Jordan will start a Facebook page and asked us to submit photos of events and tours to chevycarclubpictures@gmail.com. At the conclusion of the meeting Madyson Bradford made a presentation Buckle Up seat belt safety. She was a winner in the America s Super Teen Pageant last summer. Come One Come All to the VCCA San Jacinto Region s Annual Spring Picnic and BBQ Saturday May 18, 2013 Everyone is invited to the Annual Spring Picnic on Saturday May 18 th at Billy Kelly and Donna Hines wonderful home, party and show grounds. They will have wonderful BBQ and all the fixins, music and bring your vintage or modern Chevrolet to show, a side dish or dessert and your lawn chairs and be prepared to have a great time! Where: Billy and Donna s home Beinhorn Houston, TX Time: We usually gather around NOON to view and chat about our cars and to meet and greet. Come and enjoy the beautiful country drive and magnificent vistas and the SUPER OUTSTANDING Chevy culinary event at the Conroy s place near Lake Livingston. There will be fresh caught fried Catfish, BBQ pork, hush puppies, French fries, sausage, macaroni salad, cold slaw and peach cobbler ALL HOME MADE! Ice tea and water will be provided if you would like something else to drink please bring it. WHEN: Saturday June 8 th, 2013 WHERE: Conroy s Place MIKE RICHARD Directions: Driving North on Hwy 59 exit Livingston then take Hwy 190 West to Onalaska to the third red light then turn right on FM 356 and then go 5 miles to the yellow Beer Joint (County Line Bar) turn left on Big Hawg Drive travel about 1 mile to the first road then turn Right on Crissy Lane go to the top of the hill the Conroy s place is on the Right.you can t miss it! Should you be coming from I-45 just exit 190 East and then left on FM 356 in Onalaska, then the same directions from there. 10 The Valve Clad-d-der National VCCA Southern Fall Tour Rolla, MO October 21-25, and 6 Cylinder Chevrolets ( ) Registration Form The 10 th National Southern Fall Tour will be held in the Rolla, MO area from Oct. 21 to 25, The tour will include historic towns along the famous Route 66 from picturesque Cuba to Waynesville, including a visit to Ft. Leonard Wood military base. There will be an early bird tour on Monday at 1:00 p.m. for those that arrive early and a welcoming meal for everyone that evening. The tour is limited to 40 cars, so get your registration in as soon as possible.
