3 Freddy Smith, GSA President Welcome Spring! Looking forward to camping this year. Hope all are doing well this early spring day. Prayers to the members and families that are or have been sick. The current board will be going out soon and the new board will take oven. Give them all your support. Participate in conversation. Think of ways to improve our organization and invite others to join us. I would like to thank all the current board for all they have done for the organization. The most common complaint we have heard during FCRV events from visitors is that people break off in groups and they feel like an outsider and consider not attending again. Some people are shy and kind of hang back and observe the situation. Just a reminder it was discussed and agreed upon that there will only be a one official State Campout per year and it will be the Fall Campout. Sometime in Spring 2017 we will may have a campout but it will not be an organized event as our regular State campouts. The Board will arrange to meet to go over any issues that may arise. Membership is something that needs to improve. Please think of any suggestions to help increase the membership. To get the work out about the organization. Just a reminder please submit any registration forms for any event in a timely matter as you all know it just helps so much in planning an event of any type. Just a reminder if there are any ideas or suggestions to make the organization better please let us know. The current board would like to thank everyone for supporting us during our time as GSA Officers. Happy camping, be safe in your travels. Good health to all. *********************************************************************************************** Currently the GSA membership dues of $10 are due on September 1 st of every year. Clubs if you would please pay your state dues as a club with a membership list to Dianne Reagan, all others please mail to Dianne. These dues help cover the expenses of the Newsletter and the GSA Website. On the same note, be sure your National dues are paid also. If your State dues are not received, you will be removed from this mailing. ***********************************************************************************************
4 STATE DIRECTOR BY: Tommy & Alice Garner I am writing this while we are attending the YARS rally in Mineola, Texas. We have just come from the Retiree Rally in Canton where we had a good time. The GSA was also represented by or National Retiree Directors Reba and Ron Ray and us. We will be getting home in about a week and a half and then go to Fort Payne Alabama with the Peach Rollers for the weekend and GSA board meeting. After that, it s the Troup Traveler s campout at Amity Park on West Point Lake. Come June 22nd thru 25th, we will be going to the Southeastern Regional rally at Fort Chiswell Rv Park in Wythville, Virginia. We would like to see a good Georgia turnout if possible. Reservations at the park can be made by calling them at (276) Don t forget that Campvention is in Lima, Ohio on July 9th thru July 14th. GEORGIA RETIREE CHAIRMAN By: REBA & RON RAY Ok, everyone, the 2017 Retiree Rally was a great success. Circus, Circus, Under the Big Top, was lots of fun. With carnival games, line dancing, meals, ice cream social and all the other events going on, you were kept busy the whole time you were there. We had a lot of vendors and several seminars that were very interesting. Congratulations to Robert and Carolyn Deshone from Michigan to become our 2017 International King and Queen. They seem really nice and we wish them a successful year with many safe travels. The 2018 Retiree Rally will be in Tallahassee, Florida. Dave & Linda Hennie will host this rally. The theme is Spring Break, with great promises of activities at this rally. If I know Dave & Linda, you will have a great time. The dates for this rally will be March 20 26, 2018, with early days to start on March 16, So, make plans on be being there, I think you will have fun. I forgot to get an extra registration form but will have one by the time the next Cracker Barrel comes out. So, look for it and sign up and let s party with them in Tallahassee. We had six couples to attend the 2017 Retiree Rally from Georgia. With a total of 137 rig and about 9 staying in motels, it was a good turn-out. The 2019 Retiree Rally will be back in Houma, Louisiana. We had a good attendance at both meetings. For the January Meeting we met at Los Napolas Mexican restaurant. The February meeting, we met at the Trinity on the Hill Methodist church. A meal was furnished by Ron & Reba of Crock Pot Lasagna, salad and dessert. We were celebrating Valentine. Pictures of different couples was taken by Reba, not bad pictures as an amateur. Then March came and we had our first initial campout for the year. Thanks to John & Charlotte Brisendine for a great weekend. The weather was great. Some went out to eat on Friday night and then on Saturday there was a meal of Barbeque for lunch, and then an afternoon for relaxation and fellowship among members. 6 PEACH ROLLERS By: Linda Smith Hello All Hope everyone is well and enjoying life. Prayers for all that are sick and for a speedy recovery. About 14 families meet for lunch at Tannery Row Ale House in Historic Buford in January. Great food and fellowship. Every one enjoyed the time spent together. The location of Tannery Row Ale House is a historical building close to the Railroad as in most historic town. This location is not located downtown Buford but is just to the East of the main street area. The building was a tannery (leather) back in the day. Business grew and they had to build a larger facility. So, this became a manufacturing building for different things. Now it is home to the eatery, artist row (local artist exhibits), and a gallery auction place several other businesses. February, we met at Linda & David Williams home for a Super Bowl Party. Lots of fellowship, food, discussions and cheering. March several of us camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground and we had a potential new member camping with us. The weather was nice in the sum but a little breezy in the shade. Some that lived local came over for a while on Friday and Saturday. We went to a Mexican Restaurant on Thursday night for dinner. Friday night we ate at the Commons which is in the park at the Golf Club. Many of us meet there on many Friday nights for dinner and games. Saturday night we had soups, cornbread, fruits, vegetable and many other things at the Willis s campsite. Also, got to enjoy a nice campfire. Camping is getting off to a slow start this year! Looking forward to seeing you in *********************************************************************************************** Scholarship News Margo Bricker is the new Scholarship Chairman. ********************************************************************************************
7 SPRING LIZARDS By: Edna Jordan It's almost April. Spring is officially here. Easter Season is soon. IRS time is looming. Good weather for camping is virtually here. IN OTHER WORDS--all is normal, and life goes on---thankfully. This short letter is coming from the grounds of the Retiree Rally in Canton, Texas. About 140 rigs are here. We (older folks) are having good time. Georgia has 5 here. 3 couples from Spring Lizards and 2 couples from Troup Travelers. The theme is well-planned; the entertainment is superb. The fellowship is great. Next year s Retiree rally is in Tallahassee again. The Lizards had an enjoyable time and meeting at the Stephens home in February. We had planned a meeting here in Canton, but a quorum is not present. Our next meeting is camping in the Williams back yard in April. This is ALWAYS a fantastic time!! Some may be planning to attend the SE regional in June and the Campvention in July. Plans will be discussed later. Stay well/get well. Enjoy Spring. Get out and camp. ********************************************************************************************** If you have a RV for sale you can contact Larry Black to post it on the GSA website. If you know of anyone that wants to place an ad in the Newsletter let us know! If you would like to post your camping schedule on the GSA website send to Larry Black.
