2 Volume 18 Issue 8 Page 2 CHAPTER President s MESSAGE The September rally in Marion, Ohio presented us with great weather and some interesting tours, sights and places to eat. GREAT grilled bologna sandwich and a GIANT piece of pie. Nomads attending were: Bill & Bev Nesbitt, Tom, Cathy & Todd Wolf, Bob & Mary Alice Gast, Cory Zell & Ruth Bowman, Butch Sherman & Emma, Chuck Dilgard, Susan Balmert, Denny & Bonnie Edgar and Gary & Carol Toohig. Stan & Pat Wietholter were to attend but sold their coach just before the rally. As we were not parked together I may have missed someone sorry. The Secretary and I decided to send the updated Bylaws and Standing Rules to FMCA as required. See you in the spring or stop by in Sebring anytime this winter. Bill Nesbitt IMPORTANT FMCA INFORMATION From the September 2017 FAMILY MOTOR COACHING magazine: During the meeting on July 12, 2017, FMCA s Governing Board passed a motion to amend the FMCA Articles of Incorporation so as to change the words motor coach or motor home to recreation vehicle. If approved by the membership, this will result in owners of the following vehicle definition being eligible for membership in Family Motor Coach Association: The term recreation vehicle, as used herein, is defined as a self-contained wheeled vehicle that includes permanently installed cooking, sleeping, and sanitary facilities. The Governing Board approved this motion with the following rationale: As the RV community continues to evolve, FMCA needs to ensure that its mission statement is sufficiently broad to allow the Governing Board to take new and innovative steps to meet the needs and expectations of the membership. This could include the formation of new subsidiaries and associating with other organizations in the RV field. Evolution in the RV industry results in sales of different types of RVs fluctuating, so that in some periods sales of motorhomes decline in favor of other RV types. Many times friends and relatives who share the RV lifestyle and enjoy traveling together are owners of different types of RVs and, as a result of current policies, forgo membership in FMCA. If the majority of members who return a ballot approve this proposal, FMCA will become an organization not only for motorhome owners, but for owners of other recreation vehicles that meet the above criteria. Pleaser vote by completing the ballot from Page 46 of the September 2017 FAMILY MOTOR COACHING magazine and returning it (postal mail only) to Mandel and Associates Inc., 431 Ohio Pike, Suite 201, Cincinnati, Ohio by November 30, One vote per FMCA member number. NOTE: Pages 47 through 50 of the magazine include the full text of the revisions to the Articles Of Incorporation and Constitution. As worded in the ballot instructions, only ballots removed from the printed magazine or printed from the digital edition may be considered valid.

5 V o l u me 1 8 I s s u e 8 P a g e 5 URBANA RALLY AREA EVENTS May Gathering of B-17s Grimes Field airport, Urbana, Ohio At least six of the surviving airworthy B-17 Flying Fortresses will fly in for displays and (for those aircraft so registered) passenger rides May Reunion meeting of the 401st Bombardment Group, Columbus & Urbana, Ohio World War II veterans who flew and maintained B-17s out of Deenthorpe, England and their descendants will gather in conjunction with the fly-in and the restoration rollout. A rare opportunity to meet these greatest generation veterans! 18 May Memphis Belle restoration rollout National Museum of the United States Air Force, Fairborn, Ohio Seventy-five years to the day after her twenty-fifth successful mission, this carefully restored Flying Fortress will be rolled out of the restoration facilities and brought to the museum s World War II gallery. The B-17s will stage a formation flight from Urbana to Dayton on the 18th in honor of the event: 216 radial-engine cylinders roaring overhead will make an event to be heard, as well as seen!
