NEW MEMBERS Please welcome new members Jeff & Kelly Meier. They have a 1929Tudor. Some if you may remember Jeff s parents, Stan & Jane Meier, who are past members of the CMAFC. Long time Model A member Harry Norval passed away on Jan. 12, He had been a resident at the Ambassador for several years and unable to attend meetings. His funeral was held on Jan. 16. Our sympathy to Bruni and their family. DEEPEST SYMPATHY SUNSHINE Former member Charles Vinson is recovering in the hospital after taking a bad fall. Ruth said that he didn t break any bone, only hit his head. 2 January 3, 2015 Cornhusker Model A Club Meeting Minutes The Cornhusker Model A Ford Club (CMAFC) was called to order by President Joan Taylor at 7:31 p.m. President Taylor wished everyone a Happy New Year and expressed thanks to those who had planned the December Christmas party and provided entertainment. There were 23 members and one guest present. Jeff Meier a former CMAFC member whose parents had also been active in the club came to the meeting. Best wishes were extended to those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. A suggestion was made to remember Virginia Clark s birthday and send her a card as they have not been able to attend for quite some time. Jerry Waechter moved the acceptance of the minutes of the November meeting. LaVerne Johnston seconded the motion and it was approved. Treasurer s Report Jenn Elliott Heetderks made the following report: Starting Checking Balance: $3, Ending Checking Balance: $2, Starting Savings Balance: $3, Ending Savings Balance: $3, ($.12 interest). Bills Submitted: Margaret Mays submitted a bill for the newsletter of $5.65. Payment of $75.00 to MAFCA for Officers, Directors and Liability insurance for 2015 was requested. Ed Taylor made a motion seconded by Jim Cook to pay the bills as submitted. Gayle Hanshaw moved that the treasurer s report be accepted. Lumir Vajgrt seconded the motion which was approved. President Taylor identified committee chairs for She indicated that Judy Callaway and Sharon Gries had agreed to work conjunctively on the General Interest and Activities committees. Dick Waechter will again head the Parades and Tours committee. Darrell Best will continue to plan Dinner Tours. Dick Waechter and Bob Callaway will continue to be Car Council/ Swap Meet representatives. Margaret Mays will continue to do the newsletter and was thanked for her fantastic work on it. Dave Allder and Nancy Hanshaw will continue to serve on the Membership committee. Janet Beauvais and Bernice Jeffries agreed to serve again on the History committee. President Taylor said she needed volunteers for Sunshine and Calling committees. Laverne Johnston agreed to lead the Calling committee again and indicated she had enlisted assistance from Valda Davidson, Judy Callaway and Donna Best. Loren Davidson said he would visit with President Taylor after the meeting regarding the solicitation of advertisements included in the newsletter. President Taylor indicated she would contact members not present to see if someone would agree to plan Tech Seminars. Ed Taylor said he would be willing to serve on the committee again. Joan said she would also call members not present to determine if anyone would plan the Christmas party. Jerry Waechter has reserved Misty s facilities for December 2015 as a potential site. The following people agreed to serve treats at the February meeting: Nancy Allder, Nancy Hanshaw and Jerry Waechter. Committee Reports Activities: Judy Callaway indicated that she and Sharon Griess had some initial discussions for Parades and Tours Dick Waechter reported that there would be a regional MAFCA event June 8-12, 2015 in St. Joseph Missouri. There will a horseless carriage tour June in Abilene Kansas. He also indicated the Lincoln Swap Meet, CMAFC s major fundraiser, is scheduled for March 7 th and 8 th. He said that our club had retained it usual assignments and that a number of volunteers will be needed for Saturday the 7 th and Sunday the 8 th. Dick made a motion seconded by Jim Cook to pay the $ for reservation of the club s spaces and tables. Motion passed. Dick indicated that some retirement homes are considering car displays in April which should alleviate some potential schedule conflicts in the summer. He also asked people to save the date of Saturday, March 28 as time for a CMAFC outing/tour. Dick and Gayle reported that the Wichita Swap meeting would be undergoing changes as the Model A group would no longer be sponsoring it at the present site. There has also been some discussion regarding changes in the Norfolk tour which has been held for well over 30 years. Dick invited people to suggest other activities and to check with him to see if he knew of any conflicts for particular dates. Nancy Hanshaw reported that the Meadowlarks of Omaha area had invited CMAFC to join them in the Gretna parade. Gayle and Nancy Hanshaw reported on a tour they were planning with Meadowlark members to go to Greenfield Iowa during the end of July. Several members pointed out that the Groundhog Day festivities would occur before our next meeting. Bob Callaway said that those planning to attend would meet at the Home Depot near 70 th and Hiway 2 at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7. Dinner Tours: Darrell Best was not at the meeting. Sunshine: Valda Davidson reported that Charles Vincent had fallen Dec. 14 th and was hospitalized over the holidays. She read a message from Ruth Vincent. It was also reported that Charlie Cummings had eye surgery prior to Christmas and needed to limit activities. Calling Committee: Laverne Johnston reported that she had not made any calls the last month. Membership: No new members. Dave Allder reminded members to pay their dues and indicated that at least 2/3 of the members had renewed. (Our guest, Jeff Meier, joined CMAFC after the meeting) Historian: Janet Beauvais and Bernice Jeffries will continue in this position. Minutes continued on next page...

Jenn Heetderks responded that it had been sent shortly after Christmas. Loren Davidson questioned who sent him the information pertaining to Mike s Affordable A s request for an ad in our newsletter. Margaret Mays, newsletter editor, indicated that she had sent the info. Gayle Hanshaw indicated that the Meadowlarks would be having a car show on June 6 at Gretna High School due to interest from a teacher at the school. New Business: Gayle Hanshaw reported on a Lincoln tour planned by the Omaha area Meadowlark Club on Saturday, February 28 beginning with a tour of the UNL Tractor Museum and the Lincoln Quilt Center. Possible locations for food include Virginia s Cafe on Cornhusker and Greg s Drive- In on Cotner. Plans are to gather at the UNL Dairy Store at about 2:45. CMAFC members are invited to join the group and get to know members of the Meadowlark Club. Several people recalled a similar experience several years ago and said they had enjoyed it. Carpool: Joan Taylor won the carpool. Adjournment: President Taylor thanked those who brought refreshments for the evening and called for adjournment. Meeting ended at 8:10 p.m. following a motion made by Gayle Hanshaw, seconded by Harry Johnston and passed MIDWEST REGIONAL MEET The Northwest Missouri Model A Ford Club would like to invite you to the 2015 Regional Meet being held in St. Joseph, Missouri from June 8 through June 12, Join us for a fun filled week of activities and tours. We will be taking road trips to scenic locations such as Conception Abbey, the Lost Creek Wind Farm, and Shatto Dairy. We ll drive to Lathrop Missouri which is the home to the Antique Car, Tractor and Engine Club for a tour and photo shoot. Of course there will be lots of good food, fellowship, ladies events, technical seminars and the ever popular Hubley Derby and Car Games. In addition self-guided tour information will be available. More information and registration forms are posted on the N.W. Missouri web site, Please study the proposed 2015 Budget found on the next page. 4 DINNER TOURS Darrell has been going over the places that have good turn outs: Ticos, 9th Street Grill in Crete, Los Margaritas, Honey Creek in Waverly, Stauffers, Legends in Claytonia, and the Pizza Ranch. Poor turnouts have been, Vals, & China Buffet. Some of the others are no longer in business. Darrell is always looking for new ideas that people will go to. It would be nice to get some more places on hi way 77 both north and south and on hi way 2 east, as the four lane roads are safe to drive the model As on during the nice weather months. At the bottom of this page is a ballot for those who attend to vote on their favorite places to eat.
