The Minutes of the meeting of September 27, 2012 were reviewed, Motion made by Jack and seconded by Walter to accept the Minutes; all in favor, Motion approved. Financial Report September income was $53,684 and operating expenses were $61,850 for a variance of ($8,166). Year to date income was $417,759 and expenses were $446,236 for a variance of $(28,477). Our September expenses were above budget and our year to date expenses are also above budget but we expect to be near budget for the year. October checks issued through October 23 totaled $28,767. Bank balances (as of Sept. 30) for the HOA are as follows: Operating account $ 11, Working Capital account $111, Capital Reserve account $119, (to be updated per statement) Bank balances (as of Sept. 30) for the Condos are: Condo I checking $8, Condo I savings $17, Condo II checking ($581.00) Condo II savings $12, The negative balance at month end for Condo II did not reflect a recent deposit. Old Business The delay in closing the pool was the result of an inspection that was required for the additional electrical work that had been done. Everything is now in order and the pool will be closed and the pool furniture will be stored within the next couple of weeks. One resident has had a problem accessing The Breeze on line. Verification will be made regarding the accuracy of their address as it has been entered by TNSL Technical Services, Inc. LIPA will be installing a new electric meter to reflect our participation in their Commercial Voluntary Off-Peak Pricing Rate program. There have been a number of street lighting outages in the community. This problem is being addressed, at least one street light was found to have corroded inner works which need to be replaced. New Business Water was found in the LIPA box between (addresses) and the cables in this box had split. The cables have been changed and the service has been restored to 220 volt. LIPA has requested that we divert the water from the area of this box. A contractor will be contacted to provide an estimate for the required work. A motion was made by Walter, seconded by Barbara to install a motion sensor light at the southwest corner of the Clubhouse; all in favor, Motion approved. The cost of this light, including labor and material is expected to be approximately $ We will be having trees around the large pond pruned this year in order to decrease wind damage this winter. There are fifteen willow trees and nine cherry trees which need pruning. We have obtained estimates for the work to be done and will make a determination as to which arborist to use. The members of the BOD reviewed the present year s Budget to date as well as items to be considered for the 2013 Budget. The next BOD meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. 5 PAST EVENTS To all of our friends and neighbors: The Windcrest East Veterans would like to thank the community and Social Committee for your support and generosity at our pizza night fundraiser on October 3 rd. This year we collected and have donated eight hundred dollars to the Wounded Warrior Project from the Windcrest East Community. Again thanks for your continuing support and generosity. Frank P. Cavallaro Windcrest East Veterans ITALIAN NIGHT PARTY To celebrate the birthday of Christopher Columbus, an Italian party was held at the clubhouse on Friday, October 12 th. Seventy-two friends and neighbors attended for an absolutely delicious Italian food buffet, which included desserts and wine. The food was catered by Villa Toscano, who did a great job setting up for us. Door prizes were given away to three lucky people. Also, a 50/50 was held and two people went home a little richer. Thanks to Walter and Jack who made sure the wine kept flowing all evening. Thanks also, to all those who attended and to the helpers who gave a hand to get things ready for this great night. Dee Willoe and Grace Blanck were the hostesses for this wonderful event WINDCREST EAST MEN S CLUB In the first of hopefully many Guest Speaker presentations hosted by the Men s Club, in conjunction with the Social Committee, we were honored to have Mr. Andrew Mitchell, CEO of the Peconic Bay Medical Center address the community on October 11 th. The approximately 30 people who attended were treated to a highly informative discussion regarding the transition of the hospital, the future of the hospital, and the future of medicine and private practice as we know it today. After the discussion, Mr. Mitchell answered general questions from the floor and stayed on to discuss specific questions from individuals. On Wednesday, October 24 the first in a series of movies, A Band of Brothers was shown in the clubhouse. Popcorn was provided. Saturday, Oct. 27 th was the annual Halloween Treat or Treat for the Grandchildren. Almost 100 little ghosts and goblins and various other creatures joined us for this popular event. This day provides a safe way for the little ones to have fun and allows the grown-ups to enjoy the activity. Thanks to our hostesses, Phyllis DeRosa, AnneMarie Welby and Marge Pender for organizing this day.

Open House Cocktail Party September 29th We would like to thank all those who attended the "Open House Cocktail Party" for the Windcrest East Board of Directors. There were 108 attendees and everyone had a great time. The champagne and dessert was a hit, the music was rocking and people visited with their neighbors and friends. One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the Certificates of Recognition and awards to the five Board members. We'd also like to thank our five bartenders, Jim DeRosa, Greg Miley, Bob Griemsmann, Jack Willoe, and Tony Dunham. They were the best dressed bartenders with their bow-ties, white shirts and black pants. They were a real hit and made the party very elegant. Hope you all had a good time. We certainly enjoyed hosting the party. Sincerely, THE COMMITTEE, Marie Miley, Dolores Griemsmann, Dee Willoe, Elaine Dunham & Phyllis DeRosa WE ARE PROUD In August, Sloan-Kettering in Commack announced that our daughter-in-law, Jennifer, passed a difficult National CMD Exam on her first try, making her a licensed and certified dosimetrist (one who does the calculations and setup for the Radiation Oncology Dept.) in the Physics Dept. To qualify to take the 3 hour exam, Jennifer needed to complete 12 Continuing Education (CE) credits approved by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board during her 3,640 hours (2 years) of clinical training experience in the Physics Dept. The Regional Operation Chief Therapist congratulated Jennifer and said it was a tremendous achievement. Also in August, Jared, our 12 year old grandson, played baseball in the Cooperstown Little League. As a pitcher facing 17 batters, he struck out 13, setting a record in this League. As a result, a baseball with Jared s name and record was placed in the Cooperstown Little League Hall of Fame. 9 AND SOMETHING ELSE Our neighbor, Bruno Meloni asked me to share this letter from the Living Waters Church in Riverhead. Please keep them in mind if you have any clothing or shoes to be donated. As you can see, they are also seeking food donations for Thanksgiving. You can call Bruno at if you would like to have items picked up. Thanks. AROUND TOWN: Calverton / Baiting Hollow Civic Association meets every 2nd Wednesday of each month, at 7:30 p.m. in the Riley Avenue School cafeteria. In honor of our Veterans, and Veterans Day, I am publishing a reminder about how our flag should be treated.. This is taken from a website dedicated to the American Flag: Flag Etiquette STANDARDS of RESPECT The flag should be cleaned and mended when necessary. When a flag is so worn it is no longer fit to serve as a symbol of our country, it should be destroyed by burning in a dignified manner. Ordinarily it should be displayed only between sunrise and sunset. It should be illuminated if displayed at night. Call Frank Cavallaro if you need to have your flag destroyed. He will pick it up. Next year will the 10 th Anniversary of Windcrest East. The Social Committee is looking for ideas or suggestions to commemorate this event. One thing we would like to do, is put together a photo board or album with as many of the older pictures and stuff you may have from moving in here. We already have a very nice album put together and donated by Ann Rose. It helps show us the way we were. Thanks, Ann. Now we need more. Look through those old photos and see what you have. We can scan them and give them back if you want. But please try to think of some way we can celebrate Windcrest East!
