1 The Town and Country Chorus NOTES NEWS and VIEWS for December 4, 2018 SING-OUTS Many thanks to one of our chapter quartets who upheld the tradition of barbershop singing at the Poor House and The Grosvenor House on Saturday. We hope you had good attendance at each venue and that you had a good singing experience too. Again, thank you. Our next chorus sing-out is Sunday, December 9 at the Pulaski United Methodist Church in rural Bryan. This week s rehearsal will be our last one before the performance. We decided at the last practice that our uniform for this event will be the same as we wore at Fall Contest in Battle Creek. This would be black tux pants and jacket, colored or white shirt (no bow tie), black socks, and black tux shoes. Remember also, gentlemen, that the church is having a dinner after the service and all are invited to stay and enjoy that as well. Please make sure to bring along your wives. Tell them you re taking them out for dinner that day! CHRISTMAS CAROLING! Roger McCaskey has made arrangements for the chorus to sing at Hillsdale Country Living on Lake Pleasant Road again this Christmas season. This will be on Tuesday, December 18. Gather at the rear building to sing at 6:30 p.m., we ll then move to the front building and continue caroling there. CHORUS BUSINESS Chorus officer positions were filled last week. President Dave Rickard asked for anyone who would like to offer their services in support of the administrative activities to make their interest known. Having no one step forth in this regard the motion was made to retain the 2018 office holders for the 2019 year. Having no objections this motion carried. and Yet There Is More A big thank you goes out to Todd and Cindy Hoath for supplying the refreshments for our 4 th quarter Birthday Bash last week. We had a good evening of singing followed by delicious goodies to end the night. My apologies for stating earlier that those with birthdays in this quarter would be giving 90 second life histories. I was reminded last Tuesday that we began this activity with the fourth quarter Birthday Bash of So, we have gone through a full twelve months of histories. Thank you to everyone who participated in this over the past year. On a sad note it was brought to our attention that chorus member Don Turner has passed away. Don sang with us for many years and still maintained his Barbershop Harmony Society membership and his association with the Town and Country Chorus even though he had retired to Alabama for health reasons. Our condolences to Don s family.
2 The chorus Christmas Dinner is on the calendar for Wednesday, December 12. Cost is $25 per person. If you haven t already done so please talk to Roger McCaskey ASAP to make your reservations along with your payment. There are still several of you that need to pick up your chorus photos taken at the Fall Contest in Battle Creek. Cost is $14; please see Bonnie at the next rehearsal. A reminder that Dave Rickard is directing a Christmas Cantata at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hudson. Performance dates and times are December 7 and 7:30 p.m., and December 3:00 p.m. Congratulations to Darold Woodward on wining the raffle last week. (Yes, this line is left over from the week before but it is true once again.)
