2 Regional Directors are helping bring ATV clubs together to share information and connect trails. Thanks to all the new and current ATVAM Regional Directors for stepping up and taking leadership roles to promote ATVing in Minnesota. On this month's ATVAM State Board meeting/conference call, we welcomed Jay Brunner from Angora with the Voyageur Country ATV, Ryan Horan from Tower of the Quad City ATV Club, and Jeff Leese from Aurora with the Quad City ATV Club, as newly appointed ATVAM Region 2 Directors. Region 2 now has 11 Directors, working together on ATV issues and trails across 7 counties. However, Region 6 has just 1 Director, and Regions 1 and 4 have none -- if your club is in those areas, please consider becoming a Regional Director. Being a Regional Director is a great way to work with ATV clubs in your area, helping them build their clubs, create GIA trails, and much more. To be considered as a Regional Director, talk to one in your area, or contact George Radke, ATVAM president. ATVAM Regional Directors Are The Key To Success.

3 Get To Know Them & Work With Them. Here are the important roles they serve as volunteers: Local point of contact for clubs and ATVAM members, as well as an informed contact for ATVAM and its executive board. Regional Directors can work together as a team and create a network to support each other, in their region and with all Regional Directors. Participate in monthly State Board meetings to stay up-to-date with ATVAM, and help with decisions relating to the "business" of ATVAM, as well as bring regional and local club issues and concerns to the State Board. If you can't attend our monthly board meeting, send an activity report. Let us know what is going on and what we can help you with. Stay in contact with local businesses in your Region. o Contact new businesses about ATVAM membership o Contact expired business members for renewal o Contact business members and ask to exchange web links o Contact expired ATVAM members for renewal o Work with a dealer in your area to sell ATVAM memberships Put up ATVAM event fliers. Contact local publications, radio, TV with ATVAM-provided Media Releases. Help with coordinating ATVAM events. ATVAM runs on Volunteers. o Fall Ride & Rally, Legislative Summit, Vision Conference... o Join a committee or encourage others to join a committee where they can use their talents to help support ATVing in Minnesota Deliver copies of the Minnesota Off Road magazine to dealers, chambers of commerce, and business members. Host regional meetings in your area with clubs to share information on ATVAM, important ATV legislation, and maintaining and connecting trails. Help to start a new ATV club in your region - providing them with a start-up kit. Partner with clubs to organize a regional club ride or other event. Submit articles to Minnesota OffRoad about what is going on in your area and with your clubs. Contact your state representatives and let them know they have an ATVAM State Board member in their district. Ask them to contact you with any ATV concerns. This list of suggested roles and responsibilities is owned by the Regional Directors. It's not all-inclusive, so feel free to add to it with unique ideas for your area. Remember ATVAM Regional Directors are also voting members of the State Board and help to keep this grass-roots organization working to support safe and responsible ATV use in Minnesota.

4 ATVAM Region 3 All-Club Meeting Focuses On New Trails And Connecting Trails We had a great turnout on April 21st in Ironton at the annual ATVAM Region 3 All- Club Meeting. For 4 hours, there was a lot of info sharing on club projects, new trails in the works, and plans to connect trail systems in the future. A number of riders joined ATVAM. Thanks to Rep Lueck (standing in photo), the MN DNR, county land commissioners and many ATVAM members for attending. Thanks to the American Legion for use of the meeting room, and the Cuyuna Iron Range Riders for paying for everyone's burger baskets for lunch. Comments or questions about this meeting and Region 3 clubs? Contact meeting leader and ATVAM 2nd VP Perry May, or Region 3 Directors Ken Irish, Darrel Palmer or Dave Halsey. Know Before You Go! ATV Trail & Forest Road Conditions Vary Widely Across Minnesota

5 Ice fishing on northern lakes is still going strong. In many parts of the state the ground is still frozen. A few ATV trails are open. Others will be closed for a while. Before you head out, always check out the status of Minnesota's ATV trails and State Forest roads on the DNR website, at this link: Crow Wing County Adopts New ATV Ordinance On April 24th, the Crow Wing County Commissioners approved an ATV Ordinance allowing Class 1 & Class 2 ATVs on all gravel and blacktop roads in the county, with a posted ATV speed limit of 30 mph. Commissioner Paul Koering made the motion to adopt the ATV ordinance amendment, which was seconded by Commissioner Rosemary Franzen, and the motion was passed unanimously. Crow Wing joins 23 other Minnesota Counties that have adopted ordinances allowing all ATVs on most or all County Roads. The primary purpose is to allow ATV owners to reach designated ATV trails from their homes and cabins, reach restaurants and gas stations from the trails, and as connecting routes between trail systems. Ordinances vary by county, so be sure to check with your county office or sheriff's department for ordinance details and requirements.
