2 What is a CVB? The official Destination Marketing Organization for the area. An umbrella organization that sells to and services all types of travelers. A promotional/marketing body, information clearinghouse, and event management consultant for the community. An economic development agent that assists in increasing an area s income and employment, and enhancing the quality of life for its residents. Targets leisure travelers, tour operators, travel media, conventions, meetings, and sporting events to come the area.

3 What Do We Do? Quad Cities CVB Mission The Quad Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau (QCCVB) is the official tourism destination marketing and management organization for the Quad Cities region. The organization serves the tourism interests of Scott County in Iowa and Rock Island, Mercer, Warren and Henderson Counties in Illinois, joined by the Mississippi River. The QCCVB increases visitor expenditures and overnight stays through strategic sales, marketing, and services to our customers, members and communities. We promote and package our destination to attract and meet the needs of meetings and conventions, group tours, sporting events and competitions, special interest groups and the leisure traveler. Quad Cities CVB Vision The QCCVB is the recognized leader to market and manage the Quad Cities region as a destination. The CVB s priority is to grow tourism in the Quad Cities, thus playing an integral role in promoting economic development and improving quality of life in the region. The CVB is the catalyst in community and tourism activities; facilitating product enhancements; developing local, state and regional partnerships, and providing customer service and hospitality training to its industry partners. Our value results in generous, uncontested resources for destination marketing and management. Every resident and industry partner recognizes his or her personal role as a Quad Cities ambassador.

4 Visitors Mean Business On average, 1.5 million people visit the Quad Cities each year, spending $836 million. That s outside money being spent in our stores, restaurants, hotels, gas stations; at attractions and events; and on our products and services. Not to mention the tourism industry supports over 7,000 local jobs, making it the Quad Cities second largest employer after the Rock Island Arsenal. Our efforts generate visitor spending throughout the community which increases the community s revenue. Without tourism, we would each pay $1,200 more in taxes each year.
