3 Old Business Any club member may attend the executive board meetings. The meetings are usually held the week before the regular club meeting. If you have an interest in attending, you can contact any member of the board for the date, time and place. Contact information for the board members is listed in the Probe. The club has an incentive to attend the monthly meetings and other club events. Each time you come to a meeting or event, stop at the head table and get a ticket to fill out. Every meeting you attend or other event, you will get an additional ticket. At the end of the year a drawing will be held for one ounce silver rounds. T-shirt and hat update: The t-shirts will have a silk screened logo on the chest and the hats will have the YTC logo embroidered directly onto the hat and are at the artist making the final adjustments. Order forms will be distributed electronically and at the next couple of meetings. We are looking to have all of the orders in soon after the April meeting. This year is the club s 40th Anniversary. If anyone has any thoughts, suggestions or ideas on how we can celebrate the occasion, please contact any member of the Executive Board. New Business The revision to the Club s By-Laws are complete and were presented to the members for approval. A vote was conducted and the By Laws were approved. Copies may be obtained by contacting the club secretary. A vote was conducted and approved to allow for an $800 advance to purchase prizes. The hunt will be conducted at Hammonasset beach. Further details will be distributed at the March meeting. Elections: Elections will be held at the next club meeting in April. We need someone to step up and take over the role of Club President. All other positions have been filled. Thanks to Chuck Scott for running the raffle and to Phil S and Bruce M. for filling in on Find of the Month while Bill was out. Challenge Hunt: Congratulations to Jeff Pelletier for completing Level 1. The topic of discussion for the evening was member displays of their finds from Thanks to the following who brought in displays and talked about their year detecting (sorry if I missed anyone): Matt Dakin, Roger Moyles, Mike Stanczyc, Jeff Calzarette, Matt Poling, Vince DiBattista and Chuck Anderson. Also thanks to John Cabral and Jeff Pelletier for talking about some of their finds. March Meeting Speaker: Bruce Morris will give a talk on cleaning of coins. Cleaning of coins is always a touchy subject. You want to be able to clean it enough to show the best details, without destroying its numismatic value. Please be prepared to contribute if you have any practices that you use that have been successful. Raffles: 50/50 John Delaurentis Silver Round John Delaurentis Silver half dollar Russ Drachenburg Attendance Draw Matt Dakin Paul Flickner donated a jewelry testing kit which was won by Bob Brock Meeting adjourned a t : 9:00 p.m
4 2016 Jack Hube Memorial Polar Bear Hunt! This is a Paid-up Members Only planted hunt, with over 2000 targets (tokens redeemable for many nice prizes, plus clad coins) planted in the sand. Vince DiBattista and Dave Gregorski are sharing the huntmaster duties again this year. The date is Sunday, March 13th, with registration and seeding beginning around 11AM. Come earlier and help seed the sand. Hunt fee is only $10. Hunt starts around 1PM. The hunt will be at Hammonasset State Park in Madison, most likely at the east end, Meig's Point - look for signs at the rotary, re. which beach. We may postpone the hunt (same time, location) in case of severe weather. If in doubt re. weather, call Dave Gregorski ( ), or Vince DiBattista ( ). Rain / snow date is March 20, Dress accordingly, long johns, boots, gloves and a hat may or may not be a must this year. Even though it s March, the nearby water temperature will be in the low 40 s. The club is providing coffee and donuts, before the hunt! Bring a snack and warming beverage for afterward, if you wish. Watch your speed coming off the highway and in the park, as State and Park police are often set up this time of year on the access roads. Good luck and hope to see you there for the Indian s chance to get out AGAIN! (To win the Treasure Chest contents you must pick the one Indian cent from among the remaining Wheat cents.) We are still accepting donations from club members for prizes. Contact Dave or Vince about your donation description. Please bring item(s) to the February/March meetings, as it will make cataloging much easier
