3 Metro s newest safety ambassadors are two robots. Metro s Robotic Helpers Teach Children And Adults About Safety Metro is proud to welcome to the family their newest hires, two remote-controlled robots. The -feet high and -feet long rail car look-a-likes are able to blink their eyes, move forward, backward and sideways, and are equipped with microphones so that the robots (hidden) controllers can have conversations with their spectators. The robots will educate both children and adults about rail safety at schools and Metro safety fairs and events. And with the opening of the Edward R. Roybal Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension, the duo is making sure to remind its audience the importance of safety precautions. Both children and adults have responded favorably to the loveable pair, according to Barbara Burns, Community Relations Manager in charge of the safety program. Their life-like features leave lasting impressions and give children the illusion that they are real. Metro s new safety training method will save lives, because children will remember what they learn.
