5 What has already been done? Cities along the alignment have been working with the Authority on planning for more than the last 15 years. During this time, Claremont has considered several options for station location and design. Chose an artist and public art component. Considered conceptual parking structure sizes. Considered how the Gold Line will enhance the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) and the Village and community as a whole. Page 9

6 What is ongoing? In the last year, the City Council has discussed the potential for a grade separation at Indian Hill Blvd. Staff has been meeting monthly with the Authority to review plans and provide feedback on the following: Configurations of grade crossings. Impacts of the construction and rail line on city streets and surrounding areas. Size and configuration of the parking structure. City Standards and construction regulations. Construction Plan review (June 21 received an updated Draft Advance Conceptual Engineering Drawings) Page 12

9 Light Rail Metrolink Metro Gold Line - Light Rail Vehicle Passenger rail cars operate on steel tracks Trains are electrically-powered by overhead wire Vehicles may operate in single-car or multi-car trains/stations are planned to handle three-car trains Top speeds - 55 miles per hour Three-car trains hold up to 200 passengers per car (sitting and standing)

18 Parking Structure EIR calls for 1,260 space parking structure. Plans are just now getting to the phase of what it will look like. Staff has been working with a Contract Architect on concepts for the parking structure to make it an asset for the project and the City. City staff is continuing to meet with The Authority and Metro staff as the parking structure planning progresses. Page 26

19 Indian Hill Grade Separation On July 26, 2016, the City Council requested that the crossing at Indian Hill Blvd. should be At Grade. PUC staff has indicated they will oppose an At Grade Crossing at Indian Hill Blvd., due to the following: Number of trains. Number of vehicle trips. Number of pedestrians. Number of tracks. Configuration of the crossing and proximity to First street. Page 27

20 Indian Hill Grade Separation In addition, Metro completed a grade crossing study, which ranked Indian Hill Blvd. as the third worst crossing out of more than 100 grade crossings in the county. Based on these factors, staff believes it is prudent to begin additional community discussion about the possibility of a grade separation and what type of design for a grade separation, might be acceptable to the community if at all, and within the budget constraints to build such a seperation, prior to the PUC review. Feedback from these community meetings will be presented to the City Council for final recommendation to the Gold Line Authority. Page 28
