2 Update from October Committee Meeting This year s Christmas Party is (was) on Saturday 1 st December 2018 at 6:30pm at the Australian Rules Club, Fernleigh Road Wagga Wagga. Temora Aviation passes to be given away as a lucky door prize at the Christmas party. 50 Cymbidiums Golden $5 ea, to be ordered from Anna to be given to members to be used as a growing competition. 50 additional cymbidiums to be ordered for next year s raffles. A personal Liaison Officer to be appointed at A.G.M from the floor, a male and a female member. Conference Show details have been sent by E.O.C Theme is Nature s Way. Our show dates for next year are 27, 28 & 29 September BBQ at Bunnings booked for next year -- date to be advised. We will forgo the BBQ at Bernadi s. Next month s draw will return to $10. The prizes for this month s raffle where won by Maureen Hoppe, Ralph Webb, Keith Bergmeier, Steve Dunstan and Denise Canning. Congratulations to the winners and good luck to all in the next draw. Guest Speaker Thanks to Steve Dunstan for giving an interesting talk on Cymbidium Canaliculatums at the November meeting while on was on his way to the Three Rivers show in Corowa. Home Visits A big thank you to all who worked so hard to open up their homes for this year s home visits. It s really appreciated by those to come to share the pleasure of the flowers and great company of friends. I think it s a big part of the club s ongoing success. Please think about host a visit next year. 3 Badges If there is any member who needs a name badge can you please contact John Titus and he will arrange for one to be made up. A fee of $12-50 per badge with the Club supplying the Wagga Wagga Orchid Society badge, glued on. Library Our Society has a very extensive collection of hard and soft cover publications with the latest magazines we subscribe to also, if you would like to borrow any please see Ralph Webb on our meeting nights. The One Finger Typist Report My sincerest apology for the last minute cancellation of November s Home Visit to our home, also for missing the monthly meeting. I had the unfortunate pleasure of two short holidays in hospital. Released the following Monday with everything fit and well. Thanks to Keith Scott for looking after my orchids over this period. The Three River s Orchid Show at Corowa was a very big success for all involved. I was very surprised with the high quality of the orchids, with a lot of very nice plants not even getting a card. This show has grown to a new level from the inaugural show of last year. Growers are planning to have some of their orchids to be in full flower for the November 2019 show. The December meeting is going to be very interesting as there is a three way tie between Eva & Keith Bergmeier, Keith & Margaret Scott and John Titus for this year s Cultural Award winner. Congratulations to Anna and Lawrie Christensen for having a Cymbidium awarded an Award of Cultural Merit. Congratulations to Keith and Margaret Scott, their Cymbidium Black Stamp Come in Spinner won the Best Exotic Hybrid in the show.
