8 8 Page 8 PIRSL Angling Club Anglers Annual Competition at Lakes Entrance The Angling Section travelled to Lakes Entrance in early September to try to catch some fish and as usual the offerings were sparse. Members fished in various locations on the beach and jetties without success. The group chartered a boat called The Mulloway and again came up with only a few undersized fish which were returned to the water. That evening, we hosted the members of the Lakes Entrance RSL Angling Section for a barbecue. All members had a great time catching up and arranging a combined trip for next year. From now on the Angling Section will be in full throttle with the fish coming into Westernport so look forward to seeing some great snaps of our catches. Ladies at the Lakes Entrance BBQ Our Masterchefs at work- Competition Results for August Winner: Colin Turner Angling Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the the RSL - new members welcome. Contact Ron Hogan on or ron@aces-eng.com.au We would like to thank our sponsor : The Phillip Island RSL has other internal sections to join including bowls, golf, pool and darts. 9 9 Page 9 PLEASE DONATE YOUR OLD READING GLASSES TO HELP OUR FUZZY WUZZY ANGELS! Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels to visit again! The descendants of the Kokoda Track's Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels visit Phillip Island each year. Sponsored by their employer No Roads Expeditions, the boys who carry all the heavy equipment along the Kokoda Track, get a glimpse of modern civilization when they visit. The greatest loss of life on the track is during childbirth due to the lack of trained midwives, doctors and nurses. No Roads Expeditions have started a medical clinic along the track staffed purely by volunteers similar to Doctors Without Borders but they lack medical supplies for these clinics. The Phillip Island RSL plans to hold a fundraising dinner to support these clinics during the boys next visit which will be in March 2014 so watch out for notices about this early in the new year. In the meantime, we will be collecting old eye glasses to donate to the natives on the Track... so if you happen to have any unwanted eyewear laying about please consider donating them and leave with our friendly staff at reception next time you visit us. They will be greatly appreciated by the those along the Track who have no optical aid. Many thanks... Tom Mallaghan Vice-President Phillip Island RSL.
