4 Art & Craft Fair Once again the Art & Craft Fair proved a popular and profitable event. Through a great team effort, a total of 3350 was raised for the school, which is a fantastic contribution to our target of this year, fundraising for refurbishment of the computer science room, departmental bursaries for equipment and extra-curricular clubs and the student rewards scheme. We welcomed 50 art and craft exhibitors and over 500 parents, teaching staff, boys, Old Aylesburians and members of the public across the two day fair. Thank you to everyone who supported the event, through helping man desks, set up and clear away, providing catering and raffle donations, attending the fair and, last but not least, spending money! The Preview evening was well attended with 200 guests, who were treated to a glass of wine and delicious canapés (kindly donated by parents and served by student waiters) and a 3D printing demonstration by our event sponsors Cartridge World. The main fair on Saturday offered the opportunity to see Hannah Stembridge- King, a ceramic artist at work, more 3D printing from Cartridge World, home made cakes and sandwiches available from the Art cafe in addition to the stunning Art and Craft exhibition itself. Feedback from parents, artists and visitors was that the art work and crafts were of an exceptionally high quality and the event was both professionally run and very enjoyable. The team are already planning the next Art & Craft Fair to ensure it builds on this years success. If you would like to get involved next year please contact Gaynor Bull on: gaynor.bull@btinternet.com. All offers gratefully received!
5 Paintballing On Saturday October 1st, a hundred year 7 AGS pupils visited Sabotage Laser and Paintball club at Swanbourne. The day was split into three sessions, each session with two teams fighting each other using laser rifles equipped with NATO military grade chips. The heavy rain showers added to the sense of fun as the boys played team death match, domination and finally WMD, weapon of mass destruction! This was Call of Duty for real! By the end of each session, the boys were wet, exhilarated and happy. New friendships were made among the young comrades in arms, who can't wait for the AGS paintball in March! Match Funding 2ND HAND UNIFORM We are in urgent need of any new PE kit that is no longer required Please drop in at the office for our attention Many companies encourage their employees to become more involved in community and charitable activities by supporting their efforts through Employee Match Funding. This enables personal donations, volunteer time or funds raised by employees to be doubled or even tripled through a contribution from their employer. Do you work for a company which offers employees matched funding? If so is there a way that you can access this initiative to help raise funds for your son s school? You do not have to give huge amounts of time to helping AGS in order to access your company scheme just helping for an hour or so at the Summer Fete or Art & Craft Fair could result in us doubling the profit made on your stall! Please do check and get in touch if you can help.
