The Weetwood s rich history continues with, this year, the 128th running of our city s favourite race. Once again, the Audi Centre Toowoomba Weetwood will boast a week full of activities to celebrate racing in our wonderful community. These include our everpopular UBET Weetwood Corporate Golf Day, the family fun of the Breakfast With The Weetwood Stars community breakfast, the Barrier Draw and Weetwood Mass. One not to be missed is this year s must-attend UBET Weetwood Calcutta Sportsman s Lunch featuring two of Australia s great sports storytellers. Two-time Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Jim Cassidy will feature alongside Maroons hero Billy Moore. Do not miss out on this event, it was enormous last year and will be bigger and better this year. The Weetwood Calcutta pool reached a record last year, let s see how high we can get this year! In addition to the general admission areas of the course, TTC members and their guests (two transferrable guest cards per member) will have access to the Weetwood Room, serving unreserved light meals, as well as access to the dedicated Weetwood Lower Lounge on the ground level below the Weetwood Room. Unfortunately, due to the capacity of reserved members areas, no additional guest passes are available for purchase on Weetwood day. 11 Weetwood in the Community PIN & WIN The Toowoomba Hospital Foundation (THF) supports the community by helping to improve local health facilities and their services by providing additional equipment and resources, and funding staff development, research and scholarships. Since their humble beginning in 1991, THF have provided over $9 million to the Toowoomba Hospital, Baillie Henderson Hospital, Mt Lofty Heights Nursing Home and other local health services. Their fundraising and community events keep them well connected with our incredibly generous local community, the corporate sector and service clubs. THF are passionate about what they do, and every donation, no matter how big or small, makes a real difference to their patients and their families and the THF staff. More details can be found at PRIMARY SCHOOL ARTWORK COMPETITION In the lead-up to Toowoomba s most prestigious race day, the TTC has a number of community initiatives in place to educate and foster the history of Weetwood one of the oldest sprint handicaps in Australia. Earlier this year, we invited primary schools from across the Darling Downs to participate in the annual Browns Office Choice Weetwood School Horse Colouring Competition, which involves decorating three supplied canvasses. On Tuesday, April 3, the artwork will be judged and winners announced at the annual Breakfast With The Weetwood Stars. This is a much-loved, free community event at Clifford Park where school communities are invited to attend and support their school s artwork in the judging winning canvas decorated by Gabbinbar State School, Toowoomba functions@cliffordpark.com.au
