Below the subseries level, the materials are arranged alphabetically by publication types. The Airline Companies series is a set of files regarding individual airline companies collected by Z. Taylor Vinson. The contents of the Airline Companies series consist of the following types of publications: Business Cards, Clippings, Fleet Catalogs, General Publications, Government Documents, Media Information, Menus, Passenger Information, Research Notes, Route Maps, Serials, Souvenirs, and Timetables. Business Cards include identification cards handed out by airline officials. Clippings include magazine and newspaper advertisements produced by airlines. They also include magazine and newspaper articles written about airlines, the airplanes they flew, the services they provided, and individuals who founded or worked for them. Fleet Catalogs include materials about airplanes operated by airlines they are broken down into Specific Airplanes (catalogs about ONE model of airplane in airline fleets) and Various Airplanes (catalogs about multiple models of airplanes in airline fleets). General Publications include printed materials of a more general nature published by airlines, which include items such as company overviews, company histories, travel guides, air service guides, recipe booklets, and annual reports. Government documents include government publications regarding the activities of individual airlines. Media Information includes press kits and press releases printed and distributed by airlines. Menus consist of publications with information about meals served to passengers on airline flights. Passenger Information includes airline publications designed to assist passengers. These items include airliner accommodation guides, airport guides, fare guides, flight information packets, airliner safety instruction cards, air service guides, and passenger service guides. Research Notes include those compiled by researchers regarding the history of individual airlines and the airplanes they operated. Route Maps are maps of commercial air routes used by airlines. 1

2 Serials include magazines published by specific airlines. Souvenirs include published keepsake items distributed by airlines to their passengers and to the general public. These items include inaugural flight certificates, stickers, paper and styrofoam model airplanes, stationary, passenger souvenir packets, and flight souvenir booklets. Speeches include those given by officials of specific airlines. Timetables include arrival and departure schedules for airline flights. Most of the materials are in English, but the Airline Companies Series also holds a significant amount of materials in German, French, and Dutch. Small numbers of items in Italian, Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Hungarian, Romanian, Portuguese, Thai, and Danish are found in this series as well. 4.1 A.B.
