INTRODUCTION On this briefing for the 2018 you will find the information you need to have the better experience possible during our event. We count with everyone s full cooperation, both Pilots and ATC so that everyone enjoys their afternoon simulating a real traffic in crowded Lisboa. Should you have any questions or doubts, don t hesitate to send an to events@ivao.pt and we will reply as soon as we can. Don t forget that the information you will find here will never replace the need to have Lisboa Charts. If you don t have them, follow this link to download them. GENERAL RULES Respect the ATC and the other pilots at all times and be understanding. When you connect to a new frequency, wait 5 to 10 seconds before transmitting to ensure you don t block any other communication in progress. In the same line, do not talk on a frequency before the ATC replies to the Pilot or Vice-Versa. This will make it smoother for everyone. Pay attention to the frequency. This way, when the ATC gives you any instruction, you will be able to do it Promptly. Only readback what you are actually able to perform. If you can t comply with any instruction or didn t understand, ASK! It will be easier than doing a wrong action that might be a potential conflict. Stick to standard phraseology. Don t say any unnecessary words and don t chat on the frequency. Please de activate any crash detection on your Flight Simulator. We would hate to see your flight ruined for that. Most important rule of them all, enjoy your time on this event! 1 IVAO Portugal 2018

DEPARTING TRAFFIC D E L I V E R Y The time indicated on the booking system as Departure is the Estimated Off-Block Time (EOBT). This means you should be ready for pushback at this time, with a +/- 5min tolerance. If there is an outbound traffic peak, Lisboa Delivery will start issuing Slot Times, creating a Target Off-Block Time (TOBT) to ease the traffic flow and reduce waiting time at the holding point. If this happens, you will receive a message indicating your TOBT. In any case, you should report ready for pushback, since a slot can be improved at any time. The Gate assignment was created in order for any traffic to be able to connect 30min in advance to their departure time. This should give you enough time to prepare your aircraft and be ready for push-back at the EOBT. We are taking it a step further ahead on this event. Some departures are rotation flights that depend on the aircraft arriving. So, by default, you will only be allowed to depart after 20min have passed since the aircraft arrival. This implies that if the aircraft arrives late, you will also depart late. You are free at any time to refuse this, by sending a message to the Delivery stating, «no flight link accepted». You should request your clearance on Lisboa Delivery at least 10 min in advance. When you call for clearance, you need to report: Callsign Parking Position ATIS Acknowledge Additionally, you should report if you don t have the latest scenery available, since you will not be able to depart from position N, in case of runway 03 being active. When RWY 21 is in use, the preferred departure position for all aircraft, except for heavy Jets, should be Position U. Pilots shall advise ATC on start-up when full length is required. P U S H - B A C K & S T A R T - UP Once you are ready for push-back, you should make that request on the Delivery Frequency. Then, according to the traffic situation and with your planned slot, Delivery will either instruct you to «standby» or it will instruct you to contact Lisboa Ground. When calling Lisboa Ground simply state your callsign and parking position. The ground will then clear you to pushback, making use of cardinal directions N/S/E/W. T A X I Lisboa has published taxi routes that should be expected as standard. When requesting taxi, the Ground controller might assign a route different from the standard so pay attention and ask for confirmation If you miss understand something. Additionally, expect to taxi on runway 17/35 since it s closed and used for taxi only, which assists on expediting ground traffic. 5 IVAO Portugal 2018

When reaching the holding point, the Ground Controller will instruct you to contact Lisboa Tower. You are expected to be ready for departure at this time. If not, advise the ground controller and remain on his frequency. L I N E - U P & T A K E - O F F On the first contact with the tower controller, you need to report your callsign and holding point. If runway 03 is in use, Tower will sort priorities and give you a line up clearance even after a traffic arriving to the holding point next to yours. Use of conditional line-up clearances can also be issued, in which case you must confirm you have the landing traffic in sight. DO NOT say yes if you don t, as it poses the risk of entering the runway without separation. It is better to ask the tower to instruct you to line up without the conditional clearance if you feel unsure. D E P A R T U R E As soon as you are airborne, you should change on your own to the airborne frequency given on the Delivery ATIS, normally Mhz. When contacting Lisboa Approach report your Callsign, passing level and SID assigned. Please don t exceed the initial climb Flight Level (FL60) if you don t have any further climb clearance from Lisboa Approach. ARRIVING TRAFFIC Lisboa Control will clear you for an Arrival Route (STAR). Depending on the traffic, you might also be cleared direct a waypoint of the STAR, after which you should resume the arrival route. On the second case, phraseology would be Air Portugal 205, on XAMAX 7A arrival, proceed direct to ODLIX, for example. In Lisboa there are speed constraints depending on your flight level. Please adhere to them as it facilitates the management of the Controllers. Maximum IAS 280Kt between FL245 and FL100 Maximum IAS 250Kt at and below FL100 Maximum IAS 220Kt at and below FL70 Maximum IAS 200KT at and below 4000ft Maximum IAS between 180KT and 160Kt when established on the final approach segment. The ATC might assign speeds different that the ones mentioned to facilitate the traffic flow. 6 IVAO Portugal 2018

I N I T I A L A P P R O A C H Depending on the traffic, the en-route sector will either transfer you directly to Lisboa Approach, or to the Lisboa TMA Controller. In any case, on first contact with any of that stations, pilots are requested to report only the Callsign, Cleared Flight Level and STAR (and additionally the waypoint they are going to, if a direct was given before). The Controller will then guide you to the runway via the STAR, giving shortcuts or vectors. Be ready to fly as instructed without significant delays. F I N A L When established on final, you will be instructed to contact Lisboa Tower. You should do so reporting only your Callsign. You should plane to vacate via either HN or HS, according to the runway in use. If, for any particular reason, you wish to vacate Runway 03/21 via Taxiway S1 or Runway 17 make the request in first contact with Tower. In case of a go around, Tower will instruct you to follow the missed approach procedure (runway heading climbing to FL70) and to contact Approach. This might happen at any time, so be prepared. A special landing procedure might be used if the traffic Is high, in specific conditions. When the runway-in-use is temporarily occupied by other traffic departing, landing clearance will be issued to an arriving aircraft provided that at the time the aircraft crosses the threshold of the runway-in-use the following separation distances will exist: RWY03 the departing aircraft has passed a point at least 2400 m from the threshold (reference on the ground is intersection U6). RWY21 the departing aircraft has passed a point at least 2400 m from the threshold (reference on the ground is intersection P). When issuing a landing clearance following the application of these procedures ATC will issue the clearance to the landing aircraft with the following instructions:... (call sign)... after the departing... (Aircraft Type) cleared to land Runway... (Designator). For example, «Air Portugal 205, after the departing Airbus A320, cleared to land Runway 03» 7 IVAO Portugal 2018

V A C A T I N G T H E R U N W A Y When vacating the runway, Tower will instruct you to contact Lisboa Ground who will give you a taxi clearance to your gate. Lisboa has published taxi routes that should be expected as standard, but the Ground controller might assign a route different from the standard so pay attention and ask for confirmation If you miss understand something. Additionally, expect to taxi on runway 17/35 since it s closed and used for taxi only, which assists on expediting ground traffic. A R R I V I N G A T T H E G A T E When arriving at the gate, it is not necessary to report on blocks, you can simply leave the frequency. The Gate assignment was created in order for any traffic to be able to connect 30min in advance to their departure time. This should give enough time for the departures to prepare the aircraft and be ready for push-back at the EOBT. We are taking it a step further ahead on this event. Some departures are rotation flights that depend on the aircraft arriving. This means that it might happen that when you arrive at your gate, it will be occupied, since the pilot for the next flight is already waiting for you to give him the aircraft to the next flight. Additionally, we will, by default, enforce a minimum ground time of 20 minutes between the departure and the arrival. This means that if you arrive late, the next flight will be late as well! 8 IVAO Portugal 2018
