Turning to the third man, they asked him, So what do you want them to say about you in 50 years? I want them to say, the third man replied, He looks really good for his age An American goes to Oz Randy, a Texan farmer goes to Australia for a vacation. There he meets Glen, an Aussie farmer and gets talking. The Aussie shows off his big wheat field and the Texan says, Oh yeah. We have wheat fields that are at least twice that big. Then they walk around and Glen shows him his herd. Randy immediately says We have longhorns that are at least twice as large as your cows. The conversation has, meanwhile almost died when the Texan sees a herd of Kangaroos and asks, what are those To which Glen replies Don t you have grasshoppers in Texas.?!?! Page 3

REFLECTION JUNE RALLY DIRECTORS WELCOME A big welcome to all entrants in our very special 50th Anniversary June rally. It is certainly a pleasure being the Rally Director for such a milestone in our Club s history. Our club has always had a reputation for organising exceptional June Rallies, and I hope that we can continue with this tradition for years to some. I know that our club members (both old and new) are all fired up to help you enjoy the activities over the weekend. Our fun already began many weeks ago, with members deciding that it was time to show off their entertainment skills and put together some dance and skit routines for the Sunday night presentation dinner. A decision that brings out unusual personalities in the most reserved members but it s all good. I hope those who have travelled long distances have arrived incident free and are also ready for a great weekend. For those a little closer to home, we ask that you just sit back and enjoy the friendships and memories that come out of events such as these. Our band of helpers have done their best to plan the weekend out for you. The Saturday run will be to the quaint verandah town of Lockhart for lunch where our program will allow you to relax and take time out for an hour or two. May be a little shopping? Then moving on to Uranquinty for afternoon tea. Please note that entrants will not have access to the Uranquinty Hall until 3pm. Enjoy a free Saturday night before travelling to Ladysmith on Sunday morning for our traditional soup stop - then on to Downside for the Historic Vehicle Display. If you see any interviews, filming or basic shenanigans going on any time during the rally Don t be alarmed it will probably be our special guest for the event - Fletch from Classic Restos (The TV Show that cases Vehicles from Yester Year) just doing his thing. So keep smiling and practice your royal wave. Your Rally Packs contain important information for your weekend, so we recommend that you read this information at the first opportunity. Information includes: Directions and Maps for both the Saturday and Sunday runs. Phone numbers of our members that have volunteered to coordinate the various duties over the weekend. Please contact them if you require any information or assistance. Your Rally Badge You will also find details on discounts offered by Clubs for dining on the Friday and Saturday nights for entrants. Stay warm and safe rallying. Ray Harrison Rally Director Wagga Wagga Veteran & Vintage Motor Club Inc. Mob: Page 5
REFLECTION JUNE PRE 1931 AUTUMN TOUR - ORANGE - 4 th to 7 th May It has been a couple of years since Peter and I have been away on a rally so it took a bit of getting myself together. We met up with the others at Holgates, the Hanson, Clouts, Rockliffs and it was great to see Robyn Petts as their passenger. Left about 8.30 am with a coffee stop at Young and lunch at Cowra we arrived at Orange about 3 pm. Some of us did a quick op shop, some went for a walk before we met up with Matt, Lauren, Lilly and Hamish Holgate for dinner at the hotel Canobolas. Friday morning was check in at the Orange clubs rooms. There were 25 different clubs represented with some amazing looking cars, all younger than How anyone could decide on people s choice voting for just one vehicle I really don t know. The Rainbirds and Taylors arrived in time for lunch after staying in Cootamundra over night due to having to work on the Thursday. After lunch we had a choice of driving out to Mount Canobolas which is the highest mountain peak in the Central West, rising to1,395 m above sea level. On a clear day you can see for 100 km. Waiting for lunch at the clubrooms Chris Holgate, Janelle Clout, Julie Rockliff, Cheryl Hanson enjoying the sunshine This idea might be the start of something! "AMUSU" picture theatre. Great fun We chose to go out to Millthorpe this time. This town is growing as it has been revitalised and has lots of craft shops, antiques and coffee shops. A grand old railway station that wasn't open on Fridays and a beaut museum. It did look pretty amazing with the streets filled with all the old cars. More chatting etc to fill in until dinner. Off we went by taxi to the recommended Robyn Hood hotel Page 6
REFLECTION JUNE Saturday morning the cars went on display until 9.30am. Many pictures were taken by the local camera club and were available, to purchase at $10 per cd.. These photos were running on the big screens during dinner which was really nice as I don't think the camera people missed any of us. They also had a drone flying over us at the club rooms. Great television news coverage on both channels also. The run on Saturday took us out to the Euchareena school for morning tea. What a sight with 100 vehicles parked around this outstanding little school. 5 children in attendance and every facility you could think of. It sure was a school they all could be proud of and what a vibrant Principal. Enjoying dinner together Manildra was a lovely little town, lots to see We then went onto Molong and what an immaculate town it was too. They were expecting the convoy of vehicles to arrive with people out waving, markets set up but a bit disappointed we didn't have time to stop. The scenery and things of interest along this run was so beautiful even with a little rain when we started we ended up having a warm day. I had heard a bit about Manildra from our son who carts grain out there in a B double. Manildra, MSM Milling, is the biggest flourmill in the southern hemisphere. The town was bigger than I pictured from his description, as there was a police station, a largish school, antique shop, craft shop café. Another amazing thing they have there is one of the continuously operated "Amusu" theatre still in operation. We filled the cinema to capacity and at $3.00 entry what a bargain. We sat in awe as the old movie rolled on. Black and white, with the writing and also a coloured cartoon. What a blast, with jaffas being the only thing missing. Greatest collection of movie posters and display of memorabilia. What a finish to the day. A light sprinkle of rain as we all made our way back to Orange. A highlight of the trip back to Orange was when a little Austin 7 flashed past us and others, up a hill. The Presentation Dinner was at the Ex-Services club. We were all warmly welcomed and a lovely meal was served to our tables. Janelle and Annie found just what they were looking for in table decorations for our 50 th year celebrations. Shannon's Choice No 45 John Lockeridge, 1924 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. Best Veteran No 81 Bill and Robyn Betts, 1908 Renault AX Best Vintage No 19 Chris and Simone Hogan, 1928 Chevrolet tourer People's Choice No 26 Jorritt and Joan devries, 1923 Packard Roadster Colleen and Gerald Rainbird were happy to win a raffle prize. A bucket of car cleaning goodies. We enjoyed the company of some lovely people over the weekend with the same interests as us and we were lucky to see such a beautiful array of vehicles. Some I had never even heard of. Thanks go to the members of the Orange District Antique Motor Club for a great rally, Autumn tour. Contributed: Val and Peter FitzPatrick Page 7
REFLECTION JUNE TRANSPORT DAY AT WILLANS HILL SCHOOL On Monday 8 th May a few of our members joined the Fire, Police, Ambulance services, and other forms of transport to allow the children at Willans Hill School to experience the great variety of vehicles on our roads.
