3 Club Update The AGM was great opportunity to launch our new web site The internet platform now enables the Club to promote its activities to a wider group of 4wdrivers and at the same time keeping the members up to date on Club events. To make this work input of photos and trip reports will really help, its as easy as an to the secretary at...secretary@albany4wdclub.com... or to Kent who does the Newsletter. The Club now has its own dedicated mobile phone for all your inquiries or information on what s happening This phone is usually held by the president. If some reason it does not answer then a committee member will be able to help, see previous page. The Club would like to thank Albany Fitness in Campbell Rd for there support and Great Sothern Institute of Technology in the creation of the web site. The proposed Trip List for 2015 has been completed and will be put on the web site. Should you like a copy the secretary will a PDF file. As always the success of our outings rely on having a leader. 4 Albany 4WD Club Annual General Meeting Held at King River Hall On 7 December 2014 Present: Neil Betham, Alan and Robyn Clancy, Don and Val Tomlinson, Kent Stehn, Geoff and Anthea Draper, Rachael Hunter, Tony and Jan Christian. Apologies: Dave Taylor, Peter Davies Todd and Jane Bennet, Michael and Jacky. The President welcomed members and declared the meeting open at 12.05pm. Minutes of the AGM held on 8 December 2013 were circulated and tabled as a true and correct record. Moved Geoff, seconded Kent that the minutes be accepted. Carried. Treasurer. The treasures tabled the financial report and the auditors report. Balance in the bank is $ as at 30 Nov 2014 Moved Val seconded Tony that the Treasurers report be accepted. Carried Moved Geoff seconded Don that the subs remain unchanged at $ Carried Presidents Report. The President noted that support for Club trips had declined which was disappointing. All the Club can do is to keep trying to encourage present members to participate and encourage new members.. He thanked the committee members for their support throughout the year Election of Office Bearers. Carried Business arising: The Secretary gave an update on the new website, phone and arrangements. Correspondence In: There were various s from WA4WDA. Carried Trip Report The trip report for the run to Dingo Beach, Cosy Corner and return via the Windmills is attached Upcoming Trips: Sunday 11 Jan Nanarup Beach BBQ. Trip leader required Australia Day Long weekend camp out at Peaceful Bay. Trip Leader Neil Details to be advised closer to the event. General Business The Members thanked Tony for his sponsorship of the new website. Albany 4wd Club Trip Report - Dingo Beach Sun 16/11/14 Trip Leader Neil Attendees Jeff, Anthea, Don, Rosalie, Lidia, Rochelle, Tony, Jan, Alan, Robyn and Todd.

Sand was soft but manageable with no vehicles getting stuck. The kids took advantage of the perfect weather and went for a swim.

6 Albany 4wd Club Trip Report - Dingo Beach Sun 16/11/14 Trip Leader Neil Attendees Jeff, Anthea, Don, Rosalie, Lidia, Rochelle, Tony, Jan, Alan, Robyn and Todd. Day started at the Gravel Pit departing at 9.10am. Group proceeded to Dingo Beach for morning tea with a stop to air down before hitting the beach. Sand was soft but manageable with no vehicles getting stuck. The kids took advantage of the perfect weather and went for a swim. We departed Dingo Beach around 11am and proceeded to tackle the exit one at a time with no issues. Next stop was just around the corner at Cosy Corner for a BBQ lunch. Tony had secured the BBQ for us and was kind enough to clean the plate before hand. Once again the kids hit the water and had to be dragged out to leave. We all departed Cosy Corner at 1.15pm for a leisurely drive along the beach towards Mutton Bird Island, once again the beach was quite firm and made for a pleasant Sunday drive. From Mutton Bird the group took the

7 Windmill Track back to town with a brief stop at the lookout. The weather held out and contributed to a great relaxed trip. Special Thanks to our trip leader Neil for keeping us all together.

Fitzgerald National Park by Don Albany 4WD outing 8th/9th March 2014. Facts, fiction and gossip While only four vehicles and seven bodies travelled we have plenty of stories to tell.

8 Fitzgerald National Park by Don Albany 4WD outing 8th/9th March Facts, fiction and gossip While only four vehicles and seven bodies travelled we have plenty of stories to tell. Those who attended ranged from two experience 4wd members, one amateur and one total beginner, all arrived Bakers Junction the starting point on time. I have only used initials in the story, mainly to protect the innocent who ever they may be. Well L admitted starting the day with a big fat jumbo cream donut, good idea as we had to make Jerry before we had morning tea. Our leaders for the day were V&D and it was not long after Jerry that we turned onto the gravel to take a short cut to our destination Quoin Head. A very doable track, just rough enough to keep the traffic to a minimum. What a view as we arrived on top of the hill over looking the bay, miles and miles of beautiful coastline. A swim and lunch was at the bottom of the hill, interesting as L who thought nothing of driving her Harley across the middle of Australia baulked a little at using 1st gear low range to reach the bottom. The swim enjoyed by RD&C was magic and the sea eagle's nest on the way out topped off a great stop.

Unfortunately the track D&N planned to take was closed. Yes N was tail end Charlie, we still remember when he got lost as leader, take awhile to get his stripes back.

A trip around the mountain found us overnight at Hammersley Inlet fabulous camping area sites, toilets, kitchen, stars if there were no clouds and lots of talking and cheer from the esky. D&V set up their tepee, L wheeled out her mobile coffin to sleep in with her protector under her pillow, most would have a pepper spray she has a fry pan. Plenty of stories were exchanged and the following morning we were treated to the wonderful sight of V in her bright pink PJ's. Bird life in abundance, some rare flora we headed for the sand dunes and the beach. This is where RD&C came unstuck their 4wd would not engage (electric) so never made the first sand hill, it was D fault that L slipped off the track and sank, so she said. The experience of D&N with V supervising everyone got back on track and we did some exhilarating driving to the beach. Morning tea and being eye balled by that sea eagle who wanted to join us I'm sure, was our next high. Where too now? How about lunch at the Port Hotel, Hopetoun, all agreed. RAC checked out D's 4wd no luck so back to Albany. Ever present dangers, an example when D locked V in the ute, no not intentionally she was a little slow getting out and the child lock was on. D started to wonder where V could have got to by the time he had finished his first drink, a very stressed, hot and bothered lady when found was our V, imagine if it had of been a hot day.

10 Could write a book on a most enjoyable weekend, can assure you the experience was very much appreciated as we learn a little more about 4wding. The trip home had its moments around Cheynes we found in the middle of the road, a tail shaft and universal joint off one of Halls road trains, we know as we came across him limping his way back to Albany at about 30 km per hour just before Many Peaks. Foot note I have a procedure to reset my electric 4wd change buttons should they go into panic mode as they did on the Fitzgerald outing, I could imagine the trouble i would be in if it happened between two sand dunes central Australia, I don't think the RAC would be much help.
