1 December 12, 2016 VOLUNTEER UPDATE Happy Holidays to Our RedCoats FRONT OF HOUSE SPOTLIGHT: It is with sadness that we say goodbye to Maria Horansky here in the volunteer office. She has been an invaluable member of the team for 11 years and has been a great help in the transition process from John E to me, answering lots of questions and explaining how things worked. She will be greatly missed. Maria has let us know that she will remain a RedCoat, but will be giving up the administrative work to spend more time with her two grandchildren! We wish her all of the best and are so thankful for all that she has done with us. THANK YOU! As the year comes to a close, I want to wish you all Happy Holidays and thank you for both your hard work over the past year and also for all the kindness you have shown me the last few months. The time and effort you give to Playhouse Square each year is so valuable and adds so much to the guest experience. Any time I bring up Playhouse Square everyone mentions to me their good experiences with RedCoats. Your smiles and assistance make you irreplaceable ambassadors for Playhouse Square THANK YOU! 2 FRIENDS ANNUAL RECEPTION We are still in need of 10 volunteers for tomorrow, Tuesday, December 13 s Friends Annual Reception. Please redcoats@playhousesquare.org if you are able to help us out. We will be drawing Into the Woods tickets from those who work this event! From the desk of Ed Broderick, Front of House Manager: INTERESTED IN BECOMING A HEAD USHER? If you enjoy your volunteer experience at Playhouse Square and are ready to take it to the next level, we are actively recruiting volunteers with a positive attitude and good leadership skills to join our Head Usher team. Qualifications: Minimum one year experience as a volunteer 90% attendance or better Able to work upstairs and downstairs; good knowledge of all the theaters Dependable, self-motivated, team player, excellent communication and problem solving skills Able to remain for the entire performance Responsibilities: Check in 15 minutes before regular volunteers for the pre-show Head Usher briefing Follow designated policies and procedures as specified by the House Manager Be vigilant of potential safety issues Supervise pre-show and end of performance volunteer duties Team leader for volunteers in assigned area Ensure all equipment is returned to designated areas It is important to remember that Head Usher duties still include seating and assisting guests.
