Friday night was chance to chill out and relax with our resident DJ who was Gary Jay. Then afterwards we were chilled by the weather. Forgotten. During the night it stopped raining then it blew causing minor damage to unsecured items on the site. The walk on Sunday RAT with was notice for the fact the people on it got lost on one or two occasions and rain and blustery conditions along the way. This year there was promise of some games for people who did not go the walk to RAT pub however the weather cause it to be cancelled. On Saturday the walk to Slaidburn took place and it started to rain at 9.30am and did not stop until late evening causing a few tents to be flooded. However that did not stop the entertainment which Corinna provided was a band called Reinst80d duo who sang popular songs from the 80 s and 90 s. This popular duo help to fill the dance floor with plussers to dance the night away. Soon the weather problems were At the Heart Head after the meal everyone who was their sat down for the Quiz which was postpone from the Saturday, which was won the team from Hillington and Solihull of Gary, James, Stephen, Jeffe etc. At this point members from the Lichfield group were on site busy trying to save as many tents as possible, which everyone who did have a tent to sleep on Sunday is very gratefuly. After coming back to the campsite to see

Venue The Plough & Harrow Pub, Slade Road, Four Oakes Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, B75 5PF Start of Conference is 12:30pm for a 1:00pm start 25 th Midland Area Conference Attendee s will be the AEC, Midland Area groups delegates, and observers and guests Items to discussed National items, Brean 2009, SADY and area events and competitions Food will be served up to the value of 5.00 More details from Erica Knight and James Oliver soon Vacancies National Executive Committee Two positions remain unfilled on the NEC they are HGS National General Secretary The HGS role is to be the national chairman PA the job involves helping with the constitutional side of Plus, answering queries from area s, groups and members. The HGS is a signature on the national bank account, updating all official documentation of Plus, help run the NEC meetings and National AGM meeting in producing agenda s and distributing the paperwork. Archiving the minutes of the national meeting. NEC Administrator This is a new post created by the NEC to take some of the burden of HGS role mainly the paperwork side of the HGS. Primary role of the NEC administrator will be assist the HGS in his/ her role, You will ask to produce the packs of National officer and Area chair reports for the quarterly NEC meetings, and help prepare the AGM bulk posting, You will be asked to record the national meetings and produce the minutes from these recordings, (National owns a meeting recording device). You will be asked to maintain, update and circulate the National action list SADY 2008 (cont..) how quite it was after everybody else had packed up it was time for the delayed BBQ which given the conditions was held in the kitchen. The band for Sunday night where called TD10 from Peterborough. They were a male / female duo who sang tunes from Abba, Kylie, Anastacia, to Tina Tuner Venga Boys and Sophiw Ellis Bextor. This the left Plus to party as loud as they want until Midnight on the Sunday. During the night the wind died down and on Monday the weather turn out to a beautiful summer day just like Friday. So those who stayed the Sunday went home with good memories of a fantasic holiday, well done to Corinna Teale and Francis Wallington for organising a good weekend.

The Discovery Channel International Balloon Fiesta takes place from Thursday 7th Sunday 10th August in the beautiful parkland of Bristol s Ashton Court Estate. The Fiesta regularly draws crowds of up to half a million people from across the country by combining the spectacle of mass hot air balloon ascents with a daily programme of top class entertainment, children s activities, carefully selected food and drink outlets, awe inspiring Night Glows together with a whole array of exhibitors and shopping opportunities. Perhaps the most amazing part is that after 30 years the Fiesta continues to provide all this free of charge - so it s no surprise that the Fiesta is one of the most popular family days out in the whole country National Treasure Hunt 12th July 2008 Next Saturday 12th July, is the National Treasure Hunt. Please meet at 1pm at the London Eye to have a ride on it, price per person, or to watch. Then make your way over the water to The Embankment meeting at 4.00pm on the Tattershall Castle pub, to register teams for the Treasure Hunt, price 5 per member. 7 Volume 1, Issue 7 Page 7 MA Ghost Supper. 11th October 2008 Cost is per person, Deposits 5.00 to secure place For over five years we have entertained and scared hundreds of people at Dudley Castle, it is one of the most haunted castles in Britain and regularly has paranormal activity. Our event includes a two course meal including complementary glass of wine (or soft drink), exclusive ghost tour, mediumship demonstration and a final ghost hunting vigil in the Chapel Undercroft Dudley Castle stands over the town on a great limestone hill, one of the highest points in the West Midlands. Many people have visited the castle through the years and many believe they still linger to this day. There are several ghosts that haunt the castle. A Grey Lady haunts themain grounds and old chapel. But these ghosts are nothing compared to the spectre of the Black Monk. Dudley Zoo staff have seen him a number Midland Area Diary 2008 June 2008 to October 2008 of times in the past few years, his presence is felt throughout the castle and sends shivers down the backs of visitors he passes by. During our events at Dudley Castle participants have regularly experienced amazing ghostly activity including ghostly figures, poltergeist activity and strange sensations. Dudley Castle could well be the most haunted castle in the country! The night begins with a gorgeous two course supper and complementary glass of wine (or soft drink) at the Queen Mary Suite before start our exclusive ghost walk of Dudley Castle. The Ghost Walk will include visiting its most haunted areas including the ruins, castle keep and the notorious cottage where our attendees regularly collapse in fear! After the walk we move on to the most haunted location in the castle - The Chapel Undercroft with its two stone coffins and haunted armour. The Undercroft is notorious for its paranormal activity that ranges from full manifestations to intense poltergeist activity. In the Chapel Undercroft, a Psychic Medium demonstrates their psychic skills and will deliver messages from family and friends who have passed into spirit to the audience. In the past this has been an emotional but ultimately rewarding experience especially with the accuracy of the messages coming through. In the second part of the presentation we will try to make contact with the ghosts and spirits that haunt the Castle using the medium. This vigil will be in absolute darkness and can be very intense, we suggest that you bring a torch for emergencies!
