You ve read the prospectus, watched the videos, and trawled social media but there s still no better way of finding out what makes NTU special than seeing us in person. We re happy you re here, and know you ll be impressed with what you find. Today s all about you. Our open days are your chance to: meet your tutors, and find out everything you need to know about your course see NTU s fantastic accommodation options for yourself look around our cpuses, and get hands-on with the tools and technology you ll be using speak with our current students, for honest opinions of life and learning at NTU get to know Nottingh one of the UK s best student cities. 3 Make the most of your day Once you ve arrived and got your bearings, it s time to make the most of the open day. Your course Go to a subject talk to find out more about your course. If two subject talks are on at the se time, go to the one that s most important to you. You can visit staff on the relevant subject stand for the other. Accommodation Check out our halls of residence, hear an accommodation talk, or speak with our friendly te. 4 Arrival and check-in Registration / check-in Your starting point for the day will be the Newton building (map ref. N ). Staff and students wearing red T-shirts will be on hand to help. Check-in is open from 10 and the first talks are at The open day will finish at You can arrive at any time. Work out when your talks are and aim to arrive in good time for the first one. Food and drink Free drinks are available in the Newton building for all our visitors. There are catering outlets across the cpus offering a range of snacks, sandwiches, and hot and cold drinks. Top tip lan ahead using the timetable and personal planner at the back of this guide. Top tip Beat the queues and use our express check-in. Bring along the letter that ce with this progrme and simply drop it off in the box. Bringing fily and friends You re welcome to bring guests on the day. However, due to health and safety restrictions on room capacity, we may have to restrict numbers for some sessions. In these instances, we ll always give priority to students, and we may ask you to choose a later talk. We appreciate your cooperation. Getting to another cpus If you think you may be at the wrong cpus, or if you're also interested in a course at our Clifton, Brackenhurst or Creative Quarter cpuses, speak to our staff on the helpdesk. They can provide travel information and advice. 3

10 Accommodation at the City Cpus Living in halls is a great way to meet new people, get involved with the social aspects of university life, and settle in. We ve got a wide range of accommodation in and around our City Cpus, catering to all budgets and preferences. Visit our accommodation Throughout the day we re running an open house drop-in at our City Cpus accommodation. Take a look around our residences and see what s available. You can drop in any time between 10 and 4. There s no need to book. Just follow the signs and our staff will be happy to show you around. Satnav tours Want to see the other halls on your way home? ick up a copy of our satnav tour guide from the accommodation desk in the Newton building (map ref. N ). Follow the map on the next page to navigate to our City Cpus residences. Top tip If you visit our accommodation, take pictures! They're a great way to remember the space you could be living in and can help when making a shortlist of your favourite options. 11

11 Our accommodation guarantee We guarantee that if you choose NTU as your first choice you'll be offered Universityallocated accommodation. It s so friendly here, like one big fily. Meridian Court resident Utilities and insurance included No need to worry about bills. Your heating, water and electricity bills are all included, and you get free basic contents insurance. Your student community A big part of student life is living with other NTU students. Visit the accommodation desk in the Newton building (map ref. N ) for more information. Top tip There's no need to book on to an accommodation tour. You can head over and explore in your own time between 10 and 4 and speak to current students. 13 Useful information If you need any help during the day, ask a member of staff or one of our Student Ambassadors in the red T-shirts. There s a helpdesk in the Newton building near registration, where staff will be on hand to help with any questions. Connecting to the NTU Wi-Fi Choose NTU Guest as your Wi-Fi provider. Open up a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Safari or Chrome. This will prompt you to enter an address. Once you ve done so, you ll be given access to the NTU Wi-Fi network. Emergency contact on the day If you need to contact us on the day, please phone +44 (0) ublicity photography and filming lease be aware that filming and photography will be taking place throughout the day at this event. Any images captured may be used for Nottingh Trent University s publicity purposes, such as prospectuses or course brochures, internal and external newsletters, the University s website, and advertising the University publicly. It may be provided to local or national newspapers, educational magazines or shared with third parties, as well as being used in future open day advertising. lease note that the images could be streed live and immediately online. If you do not wish your image to be used as set out or shared with our third parties, please notify a member of the helpdesk staff on your arrival so that we can take appropriate steps to ensure you are not included. 15

What to bring with you We d suggest that you bring: your copy of the open day guide or go to if you want to download a digital copy your express check-in ticket if you have one a list of questions you ve prepared in advance for staff and current students to make sure you get all your questions answered and don t forget anything a cera or your phone to take pictures (so you can remember NTU once you ve visited all the unis you re interested in) a pen to take notes or use your phone change (in case you need it for a parking meter or public transport) a comfortable pair of shoes you ll be doing lots of walking an umbrella! Got the right cpus? If you re also interested in a course at our Clifton, Brackenhurst or Creative Quarter cpuses, speak to our staff on the helpdesk. They can provide travel information and advice. Our Confetti te will be represented at the City Cpus subject fair, however to tour our facilities and speak to our tutors, you'll need to make your way to our Creative Quarter Cpus. Go to the Confetti stand for directions. Useful information If there isn t a talk for your course, you might have booked for the wrong cpus. Don t worry you don t need to rebook. Just go to or to download the right guide. 16

15 Getting here Nottingh is located in the heart of England. It has excellent transport links and is within easy reach of the motorway. Where is Nottingh? 16 Travelling by car If you re travelling to Nottingh by car, we recommend you use the City s ark and Ride services of which Nottingh has plenty. We recommend using them as parking in the centre is limited and can quickly become expensive. Visit for more information, including about blue badge parking. If you re intending to park in the city centre, the closest (and largest) facilities to our City Cpus are: Trinity Square (NG1 4BT): * Talbot Street (NG1 5GG): 4 16* intu Victoria Centre (NG1 3QN): * *All prices are correct at time of print. From the north, south or west Nottingh has a series of trlines and ark and Rides. All trs will pass the Nottingh Trent University stop. Full details can be found at but your options will include the following. Leave the M1 at J24, and use Clifton South (satnav postcode: NG11 8BF). Journey time: 28 minutes. Leave the M1 at J25, and use Toton Lane (satnav postcode: NG9 7JA). Journey time: 38 minutes. Leave the M1 at J26, and use either of the following. hoenix ark (satnav postcode: NG8 6AS). Journey time: 18 minutes. Wilkinson Street (satnav postcode: NG7 7NU). Journey time: 12 minutes. Frequency: Every 7 to 10 minutes. From the east Nottingh also has a bus-based ark and Ride. The bus will take you right into the city centre. Visit racecourseparkandride for full details. From the A52, follow signs to Nottingh and then to the ark and Ride at Nottingh Racecourse (satnav postcode: NG2 4BE), just off Colwick Loop Road. Journey time: 12 minutes, followed by an 8-minute walk. The Ecolink bus will drop you off on Lower arlient Street by Wilkos (see map ref. on the city centre map). The University is a short walk from the bus stop (see map ref. R ). Walk up Upper arlient Street until you reach the Theatre Royal. Then turn right and follow the trlines to our front door. Frequency: Every 15 minutes. Better tr deal if more than one person is travelling. At weekends you can buy an Off eak Group ticket for 5. This allows unlimited travel all day for 2 adults (over 16), plus 3 people up to the age of 16. Children under 5 travel free. 18 Getting here

17 Travelling by rail and coach Nottingh train station is near the city centre and about a ten minute tr ride to the University. When you arrive at the station, look out for NTU staff and students wearing red who will be on hand to help if you need directions. Alternatively, make your way up to the NET tr stop on the bridge above the station and take a tr heading for hoenix ark or Hucknall. Visit for timetables. Tr tickets: 3.50 return per adult. Tickets are available from ticket machines, which do give change. You must buy a ticket before you board the tr. Tr frequency: Every 7 minutes. Coach and Megabus services are located on Station Street, beside the train station (see the city centre map). You can walk to the University in about 20 minutes. If you d rather get the tr, see above for details. Top tip Visit for live traffic and travel information for Nottingh and Nottinghshire before making your journey to the City.
