5 stepping down as Chair After some 10 years Piloting BRTUK as Chair, and now 68, I feel it is time to step down from this position and to encourage the younger elements to lead BRTuk through the challenging but exciting times ahead! I do intend to maintain my input to progressing BRT generally, and to BRTuk as an ordinary Board Member Retiring but not retired!

6 There are to be further changes also largely as a result of BRTuk post-holders being promoted into posts with greater responsibility and thus less time to pursue such related activities well done to them! Chair-Designate is Dave Haskins. Vice-Chair-Designate is Alan Bailes Secretary-Designate is Tom Hacker I wish them, and their successors, well in a rapidly-changing transport ethos. All this is, of course, subject to review and ratification at the forthcoming BRTuk AGM. GOOD LUCK ALL!

7 BRTuk this year celebrates its first decade of informing and promoting the value of BRT in improving urban public transport. During that decade from we have visited many parts of the UK for our Annual Conferences and for other Technical Visits. The entire BRT scene has improved and developed rapidly in that time. It is worth a brief look at some of BRTuk s activities over that time for the benefit of its members

16 BRTuk Conference Glasgow 2015 Now for a few personal stepping down thoughts! I m often accused these days of being too committed to the guided bus concept There may be some truth in this idea (but that s not to say it s wrong!)! I support ALL forms of BRT I also support ALL modes of public transport when properly applied.

19 BRTuk Conference Glasgow 2015 I m really rather proud of the various successes achieved in guided and BRT fields! Driving the first Leeds guided bus in 1995, when it was:- Euro 1 engine Single-deck 2-step entry

20 BRTuk Conference Glasgow 2015 I ve seen the idea transformed into regular and reliable operation in a good few UK cities! My last drive of a guided bus (before giving up my PCV licence) was in Leeds but now:-. Hybrid Double-deck Low-floor Higher service frequency. THAT S BRT PROGRESS!. again painted silver, blue and pink/red and on that same 1995 guideway (still working fine 20 years on)
