2 VISIT TO LYDD AIRPORT Lydd Airport provides unrestricted access to mainland Europe and caters for a range of aircraft operations including executive jets, helicopters, private light aircraft and general cargo as well as some scheduled commercial operations. Planning approval has recently been given for extending the runway by 294m that will allow aircraft the size of Boeing 737s and the A319 Airbus to use the airport. As well as a coach tour around the site attendees will hear a presentation by Charles Buchanan about the current workings of the airport as well as future plans and ambitions including the desire for a rail link to the airport.
