Chinese New Year Carinya on Bristol came alive with louds sound and celebration for Chinese New Year, the Chinese Kung Fu and Tai Chi academy performed the traditional double lion dance for the residents on Wednesday 14th of February, below are some pictures of the event. St Patrick s Day at Carinya St Patrick s Day originated in Ireland and is celebrated on the 17 th of March, as it has been for hundreds of years. The day commemorates St Patrick, the patron Saint of Ireland. St Patrick s Day is a national public holiday in Ireland... this year St Patricks day falls on Saturday 17 th of March, there will be performances at Carinya of Bicton, with the Barbershop quartet in the Friday, Bristol will be having an Irish morning tea served at Bristol on Friday and a Traditional performance from the Jarrah Celts on Monday. Easter Raffle Donation With Easter just around the corner, the OT department will be collecting donations for our Easter Raffles. We are seeking non-perishable items, especially chocolate eggs and plush bunnies!! Boxes for donations can be located at the reception areas of both Bristol and Bicton. 2 Easter Public Holidays As Easter falls at the end of the month of March, the following days will be public holidays. Friday 30 th of March Good Friday Sunday 1 st of April Easter Sunday Monday 2 nd April Easter Monday Please be aware the Allied health department will be closed for the Friday and Monday public holidays, we hope you have a wonderful Easter. Easter Activities Special Dates to Remember Birthdays for the Month of March Acacia Sydney on the 30 th of March Bristol Kathleen K on the 15 th of March Beatrice on the 22 nd of March Wisteria Doreen on the 14 th of March Edward on the 24 th of March We will be keeping you busy toward the end of March with many Easter themed activities. Bristol will be having their yearly Easter egg hunt on Thursday the 28 th of March, residents from Acacia are invited to join in on the fun, with coffee in the café to follow. The Chickens are coming!! Following the Easter break, Bristol will be hatching chickens!! They will arrive on the 3 rd of April, as eggs. The incubator will be placed in a space all can see and they will hatch before your very eyes!!! On behalf of Carinya we wish everyone a very happy birthday and we hope you have a wonderful day!!! 4 Men s Group Staff Profile A Mem s group afternoon will be held at Bristol, all our wonderful gentleman from Bicton are encouraged to come over for some good company, beer and fun. It will also be an opportunity to discuss activities you would like to do in the future. We always endeavour to make our program as exciting and versatile as possible, on the program for March we still have Dance Therapy which has proved to be popular among residents in all area s of Carinya. Don t miss out on the chance to join Dance Therapy every Monday. Bristol; 1.30pm Acacia; 2.10pm Wisteria 2.45pm Also, this month we have our Bus outings, Wednesday the 7 th of March we will venture to Lake Monger. We have yet too choose a destination for the mind month outing, please see the OTA as we love resident input when it comes to choosing outing destinations!!!
