First Friday Nights is a harbor-wide year-round event from 4pm-9pm. First Friday Nights are a true celebration of the vibrant harbor community, and we look forward to seeing you there. Hit the harbor for music, special sales, great food and lots of fun! 14 ST. PATRICK S DAY PARADE The St. Patrick s Day Parade is the largest on the South Shore and pays tribute to Scituate s Irish heritage and long held status as the Irish Riviera. The parade runs from the Gates Middle School on First Parish Rd. through downtown Scituate Harbor (Front Street) onto Jericho Road. To learn how you can support the parade, visit for information on the Mad Hatter s Ball, the Mayor s Race, the St. Pat s Plunge, and sponsorship opportunities! SCITUATE HARBOR ART WALK The first weekend in May, harbor shops and businesses host local arts, crafts, and music. Over 30 visiting artists, craftsmen and performers will be sprinkled throughout the harbor, as well as year round resident artists at

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS CARNIVAL The Scituate Knights of Columbus have held this carnival annually for over 50 years, and the event has become one of Scituate s cherished traditions, a favorite among children and adults alike. This 5- day event runs from 7pm-11pm each night, with fireworks displays each of the last two nights (Friday and Saturday). WHAT S HAPPENING HERITAGE DAYS Each year, with the help of many volunteers, the Scituate Chamber of Commerce proudly presents Scituate Heritage Days. The annual event combines live music and entertainment, artisan crafts, kid s activities and historical site visits for one of the South Shore s biggest and most anticipated outdoor events of the summer. Come join us the first weekend of August and enjoy the many events, activities, and music venues that have made Scituate Heritage Days famous! 15

18 WHAT S HAPPENING FALL FOR SCITUATE The emphasis is on community when North Scituate Village hosts Fall for Scituate: A Hometown Celebration, every October. The annual ChowderFest, starring the traditional New England favorite, created by the area s top restaurants and caterers, is a major highlight of the event, which also features entertainment, an invitational artisan show, special merchant activities and lots of community involvement. HALLOWEEN IN THE HARBOR Each year on Halloween, the businesses open their doors to Trick O Treaters from 4:00-5:30pm. The harbor is transformed into haunted houses and decorated storefronts. Costumed kids, parents, business owners and even dogs fill Front Street and Cole Parkway. Front Street is blocked off and patrolled for safety by the Scituate Police. The event is put on by the Scituate Harbor Business Association, the Chamber of Commerce, and all of the Scituate Harbor businesses. SATUIT BAND The Satuit Band has been welcoming South Shore musicians since 1933 and is comprised of local musicians from young teens to early eighties, high school students to seasoned professionals (who donate their services) and every level in between. The Satuit Band will perform weekly concerts this summer at several locations including the gazebo on Scituate Harbor. 18

PRETTY LITTLE THINGS Pretty Little Things is a local designer co-op offering one-of-a-kind clothing, jewelry, accessories, and children s clothing. The shop is filled with exactly that pretty little things for women and young girls. Many of the items in the shop are hand made by shop owner Maria Dinwoodie as well as other local artisans. Maria has an eye for what women want, and she creates beautiful pieces that reflect that. SALON TAJ It's all in the name! 26 CUISINE SCENE CIRCE S GROTTO It all began in 1997 when Maura Bulman, a scholar and innovator, wanted to bring to Scituate her love of good food. Her passion for Greek Mythology solidified the Circe s Grotto title. Susan Stella came in 1998 after 25 years in the restaurant business learning from her the satisfaction in creating the perfect sandwich. Susan s passion is about quality and substance, using nothing but the best products and selling it at a fair price. Serve it with a smile and keep them wanting more. It s a simple philosophy. When people trust you, the world is your panino! MILL WHARF RESTAURANT The Mill Wharf Restaurant was built on the site of the Welch Co. Lumber Mill in 1984 and has been operated by the Warner family since its construction. Artifacts from the original mill, such as signs, saws, and tools are displayed throughout the restaurant and beams from the mill were used in its construction. The Mill Wharf has two floors, both with outside dining areas, and panoramic views of Scituate Harbor. RESTAURANT ORO The fact that you feel like you re in downtown Boston is the first achievement but that s not what is notable about ORO. It s the food. The menu is inventive, the food is incredible, the staff is amazing and the drinks are top notch. ORO is fine dining with a relaxed atmosphere where the culinary team is sourcing produce from small farms up and down the coast, and fresh seafood from local fishing boats. 26
