The Blood Bank is a shining example of selfless service by Rotarians and through Rotarians by the community to make safe blood available to those in need. Rotarians have grown two blades of grass where one grew earlier and the world is better for that. I congratulate Rtn. Setting up of a Blood Bank is indeed a difficult but highly worthwhile medical facility to save lives and provide opportunity to civil society to give of themselves when they donate blood. We all know of the constraints, handicaps and even financial limitations you had, but you moved forward overcoming the obstacles and making the stumbling blocks the stepping stones. Dear Members of Rotary Club of Noida I commend you for achieving impossible. Delhi & NCR region have an estimated shortfall of approximately 50,000 units of blood every year with the requirement being four lakh units & only fifty percent of this is met by voluntary blood donors. It is oblivious that concept of blood donation has not reached up the masses. An archbishop, while commenting on the selfless service of Mother Teresa wrote, If it was just her social work, her work would have ended just like the distribution of medicine packets on stage. Her healing touch achieved much more than what the curative power of drugs could. The Rotary wheel reminds us of a life surrendered to the welfare of people & signifies that we have to move & reach those who need us. You have thus provided a medium to promote voluntary blood donation. A red revolution in Noida will popularize & motivate the common man to donate blood voluntarily, & prevent incidences of transfusion transmitted infections & in the process save many lives. I am sure the work carried through the Rotary Blood Bank at Noida will have a positive impact on the society & motivate the younger generation to boost up the voluntary non-remunerative blood donation scenario in & around Delhi but also in the other parts of the country.
