2 START A BUSINESS IN YLIVIESKA A FEW CONVINCING ARGUMENTS. Greater than you think. Ylivieska is a town of around inhabitants. Ylivieska is a good place to start a profitable business. Ylivieska can rightly be called a town larger than its size, because as a hub of commerce it attracts approximately people living in the region. Easy to get to. Travel connections to Ylivieska are good. Our city is located at the intersection of railroads and of major roads 27 and 86. This location ensures rapid travel to any direction. The airports in Oulunsalo and Kruunupyy are just over an hour's drive away. The Rahja freight port at Kalajoki is at a distance of approximately 50 km. A hub for trade. Ylivieska is currently Finland's most active hub for car sales. In recent years, large shopping malls and various specialized shops have also emerged in town. These shops attract customers from even greater distances. Ylivieska can be characterized as a town of trade and services: around 75% of jobs are in the service sector. Strong manufacturing industries. The mechanical wood industry as well as the engineering industry have established traditions and good growth prospects in Ylivieska. These plots are equipped with municipal engineering and could suit different types of businesses. Smart town planning. For its growth, Ylivieska relies on systematic town planning. The aim of town planning is to create a regional centre with good services, pleasant residential areas and a varied range of businesses. Sites situated in various parts of town could be suitable both for business and residential building. The unbuilt sites are suitable for development and are equipped with water, plumbing and electricity. A youthful town. The population structure in Ylivieska reflects the town's dynamic growth and development. The town retains a youthful age structure: Most people working are young, and the region boasts one of the highest birth rates in the country. 5 THE STRONGEST MARKET ATTRACTION IN THE COUNTRY In 2011, a survey was carried out by TNS Gallup Oy. In this survey, 41 different product groups were used to determine how households purchased goods in different municipalities. This survey was conducted nation-wide and it indicated how people move and where they obtain services Influence Area Survey The basic value for the index is 100. In the survey, the value indicating the average market attraction of all product groups is almost double the number of resident customer households. The car trade draws the most revenue into Ylivieska. In the survey, the index of the car trade appeared as high as 535! Ylivieska 5

6 THE TOWN CENTRE - EVENTS AND ATMOSPHERE THE VERY BEST PLACE FOR YOUR BUSINESS The town centre offers: commercial and office premises for small and larger businesses comprehensive services for business several annual events Good service and an old-fashioned trade atmosphere make people want head for the city center. There is a busy railway junction. A number of annual events taking place in the town centre are anticipated by townfolk and people in neighbouring municipalities. An example is Shop by night, an annual event organised in early September. This event has become very popular with families. 7 The Savari area is located near the centre of Ylivieska, along one of the main roads (Savontie). For decades, this area has been known as a centre for car trade, Autolaakso, Automobile Valley. After the turn of the millennium, this area has grown and diversified, now containing shopping centers, service providers, and hypermarkets. SAVARI - BUSINESS PREMISES AND TRAFFIC FLOW The great advantage of Savari are its traffic communications. Through it passes the main road 27 a busy road extending from the West coast to Eastern Finland. The variety of commercial enterprises, combined with good traffic communications has made Ylivieska a favoured stopping place. Commercial premises for small and larger businesses are available in the Savari area. Enquiries about sites for lease can be directed to the town council. Savari also offers functional transportation and logistic services, as well as spacious parking lots. Our main market area extends roughly 150 km from Ylivieska, but customers come from elsewhere in Finland as well.
