1 Dear All, Mexico City, 15 August 2017 The Mexican Chapter of the International Association of Women Judges is pleased to invite you to the Latin American and the Caribbean Regional Conference in Mexico City from September The IAWJ represents all levels of the judiciary worldwide, with approximately 5,000 members in 82 countries. The Latin American and the Caribbean region covers eighteen nations and legal systems. We make efforts with all its members to advance human rights and equal access to justice, including fostering judicial leadership and independence; supporting judicial education programs that support human rights, seek to uproot gender bias from judicial systems and promote women s access to the courts; and to create a network of women judges in the region. Equality: A View from the Judiciary is the theme of the conference, which will cover topics including migration, gender-based violence, trafficking in persons and cyber bullying. The aim is to allow delegates to develop a global network of women judges in the region that will generate opportunities for judicial exchange of good practices that promote women's access to the courts, under conditions of equality and the uprooting of gender bias. The Mexican Chapter of the IAWJ is very pleased to welcome all members of the IAWJ to our Third Regional Conference of the IAWJ in the beautiful Mexico City.
