1 P.19/006 Introduction INTERNATIONAL WROUGHT COPPER COUNCIL IWCC JOINT MEETING SANTIAGO 3-7 APRIL 2019 INFORMATION SHEET The 2019 Joint Meeting between the IWCC and copper producers will be held in Santiago from 4 to 7 April with mine visits taking place on 3 April. All IWCC members and all copper producers are invited to attend. Representatives of the metal exchanges (CME, LME & SHFE) are expected to be present as will representatives of organisations involved in the copper industry: for example CESCO, ICSG, ICA and others. Location Unless otherwise indicated, all meetings and events will be held at the Hotel Santiago (a Mandarin Oriental hotel). Hotel Santiago Presidente Kennedy Avenue # Santiago Chile Tel: Website: Hotel Santiago The Hotel Santiago is located in the area of Las Condes in Santiago. Joint Meeting There will be a wide range of papers presented in Santiago on topics of interest to the industry. Representatives from the metal exchanges, CME, LME & SHFE will be present in Santiago and will make presentations at the Joint Meeting. There will be papers focussing on copper production in Chile and Peru. It is expected there will be a session on sustainable production. There will be papers looking at trade flows with reference to the tariff discussions between China and the USA. Scrap availability is a major feature of copper supply and this will be discussed in Santiago with an emphasis on the scrap import bans in China. Updates to the list of papers and speakers will be available on the IWCC website in advance of the Joint Meeting. All slides and papers, where possible, will be available in the Members Area of the IWCC website to be downloaded after they have been presented. 1 of 8

2 The final Agenda for the Joint Meeting, including the complete list of papers and the IWCC Meeting Guidelines on the content and conduct of the meeting, will be included in the Welcome Pack. The Joint Meeting will be attended by legal counsel to the International Copper Association (ICA). Programme The Joint Meeting programme is given in document (P.19/007). The final version of the Programme will be included in the Welcome Pack which will also list the names of delegates, their companies and positions, and the names of accompanying partners. Main Excursion On Sunday 7 April there will be a short walking tour of the city of Santiago followed by lunch at a vineyard in the Casablanca Valley. In Santiago, the city tour will include La Moneda (the Presidential Palace), Plaza de la Constitucíon concluding at Plaza de Armas where refreshments will be provided. The group will then depart by coach for lunch at Restaurant Equilibri at Matetic Vineyards, located in the Casablanca Valley. After lunch, the group will return to Santiago by coach. Partners Excursions On Friday 5 April there will be a visit to the Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino, which is a museum dedicated to the study and display of pre-columbian artworks and artefacts from Chile as well as other regions in South and Central America. Refreshments will be served in Castillo Rojo. There will then be a tour of Casa Museo La Chascona. La Chascona was Pablo Neruda s house in Santiago. Pablo Neruda was a Chilean poet who won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1971, one of two awarded to a Chilean. The tour will conclude with lunch at the restaurant El Mesón Nerudiana. On Saturday 6 April there will be a guided walking tour of Valparaíso. The coastal city of Valparaíso is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Refreshments will be served on arrival at Café Turri, which has spectacular views over the city and the Pacific Ocean. Lunch will be served at Restaurant Tantino which is located in Casas del Bosque, a renowned winery close to the town of Casablanca. Mine Visits On Wednesday 3 April there will be full day mine visits to either Centinela (Antofagasta Minerals) or El Teniente (Codelco). Lunch will be provided at both mines. The mine visits have capacity limits and will be filled on a first-come first-served basis. Mine Visit Centinela (Antofagasta Minerals) Participants will visit the Esperanza open-pit mine look-out point, the truck maintenance area to view the trucks up-close, the concentrator plant, control room & tailings processing. The plant visit will require delegates to fly to Calama El Loa Airport (CJC). Participants must make their own reservations from Santiago (SCL) to Calama El Loa (CJC) on the following LATAM airlines flights: 2 of 8

3 Outbound: LA146 departing SCL at 07:25 Return: LA155 departing CJC at 19:50 Transport will be provided between the hotel and SCL and between CJC and Centinela. Mine Visit El Teniente (Codelco) During the mine visit participants will visit the company s underground mine, control centre, primary crusher and ore processing. The visit will conclude with a tour of Sewell Camp, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Transport will be provided between the hotel and El Teniente. Interpretation The Joint Meeting will be a five-language meeting with simultaneous interpretation between: English, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin-Chinese and Spanish. The IWCC General Assembly will have the same interpretation arrangements as the Joint Meeting. All other meetings will be English only. Registration Delegates are asked to complete the Joint Meeting Registration Form (P.19/008) and return this to the IWCC by no later than Friday 22 February. Registration acknowledgements will be sent by after receipt of Registration Forms. There is no restriction to the number of delegates who may attend from each company. Delegates partners are welcome and encouraged to attend. Accommodation Accommodation has been reserved by the IWCC at the Hotel Santiago for the nights of Monday 1 April to Sunday 7 April inclusive, but see below for Extended Stay. The room types and rates (per room per night) are: Single Occupancy Double Occupancy Superior King/Twin Room CLP 140,000 CLP 153,500 Club Superior King* CLP 183,000 CLP 196,500 Executive Suite* CLP 225,000 CLP 238,500 * includes access to the Club Lounge Room rates: include buffet breakfast, Wi-Fi and use of the fitness centre but excludes VAT of 19%. 4 Please note: Room types are subject to availability and will be on a first-come firstserved basis. If your chosen room type isn t available the IWCC will inform you. Extended Stay If accommodation is required before 1 April this can be arranged subject to availability but the quoted rates cannot be guaranteed. If accommodation is required after 7 April, which includes CESCO Week, the IWCC has secured a limited number of rooms for the nights of 8-10 April. Accommodation Confirmations Accommodation confirmations will be sent to delegates by mid-march All delegates are requested to reserve their accommodation at the Hotel Santiago through the IWCC. If any delegates reserve accommodation directly with the hotel it is expected that the accommodation will be transferred to the IWCC room block. Delegates staying at hotels other than the Hotel Santiago will be requested to provide the IWCC with their accommodation details (arrival & departure dates and name of hotel). Delegates participating in events but not staying at the Hotel Santiago are responsible for ensuring they arrive at the Hotel Santiago in advance of the scheduled departure times for dinners, tours etc. Please also see the section on Terms and Conditions. Travelling to Santiago There is one commercial airport in Santiago: Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport (SCL). It is suggested only to use either private transfers or licensed taxis to reach the hotel from the airport. The journey time is approximately 30 minutes, subject to traffic. Private Transfer: Taxi: These can be arranged through the IWCC and charged to the delegate s room account. Taxis are available outside the Arrivals hall. Details of how to reserve a private transfer will be included in the flight questionnaire to be issued in mid-february of 8

Approximate exchange rates as of January 2019 are: CNY 10 CLP 1,000 EUR 1 CLP 790 GBP 1 CLP 880 JPY 100 CLP 630 KRW 1,000 CLP 620 USD 1 CLP 695 Entry Requirements Delegates are advised to contact their local Embassy or Consulate to obtain the latest visa requirements. If a visa is required: Sufficient time must be allowed for the visa application process, Please complete and submit the Visa Questionnaire (P.19/009), and If an invitation letter from a Chilean-based company is required, this can be provided through the IWCC. Citizens of some countries may be required to pay a reciprocity fee on arrival. This payment has to be made in USD. If this is the case, there is clear signage in the airport to direct persons to the payment desk. 5 of 8

6 Time differences During the Joint Meeting the time in Santiago will be: 4 hours ahead of Phoenix 2 hours ahead of Chicago 1 hour ahead of New York 4 hours behind London 5 hours behind Berlin 11 hours behind Beijing & Singapore 12 hours behind Seoul & Tokyo Please note daylight saving in Chile will end on 7 April 2019 when the clocks in Chile will turn-back one hour. Climate The average temperature in Santiago in April is 23 C and it is still considered the dry season. Practicalities Credit and charge cards are widely accepted. The Hotel Santiago, as with most high-end hotels in Santiago, has hotel cars available for short journeys, the cost of which can be charged to room accounts. These need to be pre-booked. Licensed taxis are readily available at the Hotel Santiago. It is advisable to have the full address (in writing) of your destination with you before starting your journey. Taxis only accept cash. Security Delegates should take care of their belongings at all times and especially on the streets and in public places. It is recommended to leave all valuables in the hotel (safes are provided in all bedrooms). Fees The IWCC is non-profit making and fees are charged solely to cover costs. Please see the section Terms and Conditions for further details. Joint Meeting For IWCC members, representatives of the Core Group of Copper Producers and for invited guests, attendance is free of charge. All other delegates pay a delegate fee of GBP 1,950 per person. Second and subsequent delegates from the same company pay a reduced fee of GBP 1,700 per person. The delegate fee includes all meetings and events listed in the Programme with the exceptions of the partner excursions and informal dinner. 6 of 8

7 Partner Excursions Friday Saturday GBP 90 per person GBP 95 per person The partner excursion fees include entrance charges, morning refreshments, lunch, drinks, guides, transport and service charges. Informal Dinner Saturday GBP 95 per person The fee includes dinner, drinks, transport and service charges. Mine Visits There is no fee for delegates participating in either of the two mine visits. Payment Upon receipt of registration, an invoice will be issued giving full details of payment procedures. Payment must be made in advance of commencement of the Joint Meeting. Terms and Conditions Accommodation The Hotel Santiago accommodation cancellation policy specifies that room nights cancelled after 24 February may incur a fee equal to 100% of the cost of the room nights cancelled. No-shows may also incur a fee equal to 100% of the cost of the room nights reserved. In the event of accommodation cancellation fees being incurred, the IWCC will seek to have these fees reduced but can give no guarantee. All accommodation reservations and changes must be made through the IWCC and not directly with the Hotel Santiago. If any delegates reserve accommodation directly with the hotel it is expected that the accommodation will be transferred to the IWCC room block. Upon checking into the Hotel Santiago, each delegate takes over responsibility for the accommodation reserved through the IWCC and may be charged by the Hotel Santiago for unused room night(s) if checking out earlier than planned. If any accommodation cancellation fees are passed to the IWCC, the IWCC will seek to recover these costs from the delegate(s) concerned. Delegate Fee refund Any delegate who is subject to paying the delegate fee will receive a full refund if the IWCC is advised before or on 3 April that they are unable to attend. Delegates affected by any major change will be notified as soon as possible. In the unlikely event of cancellation by the IWCC of an event for which money has been paid a full refund will be given. Acceptance Registration confirms acceptance of all Terms & Conditions. Insurance The IWCC cannot accept liability for any loss, damage or injury suffered during the course of the Joint Meeting and associated programme activities and excursions howsoever caused. Those who register for the Joint Meeting and associated programme activities and excursions must ensure they have adequate and appropriate insurance.
