An USB stick may be borrowed from the registration desk. Banks and currency exchange There are three banks within a 200m distance from the University main building: Hypo-Alpe-Adria Bank, Bank-Austria Creditanstalt, Raiffeisen Landesbank. Bicycle rental If you want to rent a bicycle for free you can do this in front of the restaurant Uni Wirt just across the street of the University main building. Bus connections to city center and Hotels In front of the university main building there is a bus stop with regular bus connections from and to the city of Klagenfurt. The downtown target terminal is Heiligengeist Platz from where bus connections leave to all directions. Most of the city destinations (e.g. restaurants, attractions) are at a walking distance from there. In addition to that, we are happy to offer you a free ride from your Hotel to the University (and retour) by our ER2005 Shuttle which operates from Tuesday evening to Friday morning. However, autumn might become quite fresh in Carinthia; under bad weather conditions even snowfall is possible. This might lead to cool draughts in the Foyers. So please bring solid shoes and a sweater with you in order to be equipped for any eventuality. Smoking at the University The university is a non smoking area, except for the IQ restaurant at the ground floor near lecture Hall A (Peter P. Chen Hall). Simply follow the signs smoking point or ask the organization staff for advice. Social Events The ER2005 Organizers are happy to invite you to a series of social events in connection with the conference. They are included in the conference fees. For partner tickets please contact the Conference Office. Monday, October 24, 5:30pm: Bus trip to Magdalensberg (altitude 1058m, one of Carinthia s most scenic and historic locations. Enjoy typical Carinthian food, Austrian Wines and Austrian Music performed by the Adamas String Quattuor. Buses leave at 5:30pm in front of the main building. Tuesday, October 25, 7:00pm: Welcome Reception / Get Together in the Foyer of the Peter P. Chen Hall (HS A). Meet and discuss and form new friendships with colleagues from all over the world. Finger food, drinks and diverting music will help you to join in. Wednesday, October 26, 7:00pm: Conference Dinner and Show in the Schleppe Event Hall, a former beer brewery. Let you take by surprise and enjoy a wonderful Carinthian night in companionship with conceptual modelers from more than 30 nations. Buses leave at 6:45 (Hotel Shuttle) and 7:00pm in front of the main building. Thursday, October 27, 7:00pm: Conference Reception by the Governer of Carinthia and the President of Carinthia s Parliament; takes place within the magnificent Emblem Hall (Wappensaal). The evening starts with a walk to Klagenfurt s most fascinating historic locations guided by the city counselor and historian Dr. Dieter Jandl. The reception speeches will be succeeded by a buffet dinner in the rooms of the Parliament. Buses leave at 6:45 (Hotel Shuttle) and 7:00pm in front of the main building. No bus transfer after the event since the Parliament ( Landhaus ) is located in the city center which might tempt you to test some more bars and bistros.
