1 WG10/N280 Title: WG10 Call for participation October 1999 Source: J P Lerat, France Action: Information Date: 1 April 1999 CALL FOR PARTICIPATION Nantes 1999 Agenda Location The fall meting for the ISO working groups 7, 8, 10 and 13 will be hosted in the area of Nantes (FRANCE), at the Hôtel Mercure Nantes-Central. Day Activities 24/10 (sunday) Welcome - Registration 25/10 (monday) Work 26/10 (tuesday) Work 27/10 (Wednesday) Work on morning A visit is scheduled the afternoon and a social event at the evening. 28/10 (Thursday) Work 29/10 (Friday) Work until 12 :00 The ISO participants are provided with a full working package at the Hôtel Mercure Nantes-Central, located in Nantes downtown. The Nantes Atlantic Airport provides some connections to/from various European countries, as well as to/for overseas locations. If the Nantes airport is not convenient for you, it is recommended to commute in Paris by train. The main Parisian airports (Roissy and Orly) have a direct high-speed train connection that will cover the 400km in about 2 hours, leaving you directly in downtown. Organisation The meeting is arranged by Jean-Philippe LERAT. The registration fees cover all costs for the attendee s rooms, the breakfeast, the lunch and the meeting rooms access. Registration fees do not cover private expenses such as hotel bar, telephone, diners and extra-nights. Please, book before June 30 th

3 Journey Administration Coming in France does not requires visas or special vaccinations for people living in most countries. Currency is French Francs and euros (but euros is only a few weeks old and I suggest you to limit yourself to the French Francs). VISA and MASTERCARD are very widely accepted and most of cash machines allow to draw notes from major cards. Meeting fees Unusualy, the meeting is held as a whole seminar, and the hotel requested the organiser, M. Jean- Philippe LERAT, to handle the global organization including the meeting rooms, the attendees chambers, breakfeasts and lunches. The meeting fees are 4.200,00 FRF (or 640 euros), including five nights, five breakfast, and five lunchs (for people attending less than the 5 days, the cost per day is 1, FRF or 160 euros, including one night, one breakfast, one lunch and room access). A deposit of 30% (1.250,00 FRF) will be requested at reservation time. The deposit will be reimbursed to people cancelling their reservation before October, 1 st. A VAT of 20,6% applys to French people and companies. Note 1 : The five nights can be either from sunday 24th to friday 29th, or from monday 25th to saturday 30th, as needed to comply with your travel constrainsts Note 2 : The only costs remaining to you are private expenses (bar, phone, etc.) and diners. The overall costs is similar to the regular cost of travelling at other ISO meetings with separate hotel, lunchs, breakfast and meeting fees bills. Diners The Hotel Mercure Nantes-Central is a nice hotel in downtown. It features also a typical french restaurant. You are free to have diner in the restaurants nearby the hotel, with a wide choice (french, brittany, asian, african, etc.). Computer Facilities At the location, a few computers, printers and Internet access will be provided. Accompanying people You are welcome to share this week with your family and enjoy the nice town of Nantes. Special hotel rates are provided for accompanying people, either adult or children.

4 Rates for accompaying person or extra nights Weather Per accompanying adult (room)...80 FRF per night Per breakfast of the accompanying people FRF You will be granted of a very special prices of 535 FRF per nigh for extra nights (arriving before Monday the 24 th, or leaving after Friday the 29 th ). The weather at these time is just a bit fresh, ranging from 8 to 15 C. Due to the proximity of the sea, the weather can be either quite sunny or very rainy. Anyway, we strongly suggest you to bring a rain-proof coat. Travelling in France If you or your family want to have a few holidays around the meeting, the country side is really enjoyable. You can easily rent a car and drive to many exciting places such as middle-aged towns, Castles of the Loire, vintages, etc. Nantes is also only 2 hours far from Paris downtown by highspeed train. Booking constrainsts Please, book your room as soon as possible, and BEFORE June the 30th. Cancellation before September the 15 th will be fully re-imbursed. This hotel is just a few hundreds meters far from the right railway station (Gare Montparnasse) and is easily reachable from either Roissy or Orly Airtports. This is a typical french hotel with a very nice restaurant. A special discount will be provided to you if you are booking in the name of NANTES 99 - ISO group.
