5 TRAIN ON THE LATEST SIMULATOR TECHNOLOGY Work has already started on a cutting-edge new simulation centre at our East Park Terrace campus. Expected to open in summer 2019, the simulation centre offers senior and experienced seafarers access to bridge and engine simulation courses utilising the very latest facilities: 6 full-mission navigational bridges Engine simulator and HV training GMDSS radio communications training 4 multi-purpose desktop simulation classrooms 2 ECDIS suites 6 DP stations 4 debriefing rooms/classrooms These world-leading new simulation facilities offer the opportunity for several new specialist training courses, including: Dynamic positioning Vessel traffic management Offshore and onshore crane handling Ice navigation Fully integrated navigation/engine training NEW FACILITIES AT OUR WARSASH SITE At the academy s historic home, exciting new plans are under way for 2020 with our brand new safety training building incorporating a purpose-built indoor pool facility which will support helicopter underwater escape training (HUET) and other pool-based safety programmes. Our medical suite will also receive the very latest in equipment and teaching technologies, while a brand new, expanded fire training facility will incorporate the very latest in firefighting equipment, working to the optimum environmental standards.

Delivered in collaboration with Trinity House and Chiltern Maritime, this unique cadet training programme leads to the issue of a fully-fledged UK MCA Officer of the Watch (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency which is tailored to the superyacht industry. As well as gaining the Officer of the Watch (OOW) Certificate of Competency and academic exemptions for Chief Mate (Unlimited), candidates will also obtain a Foundation Degree (FdSc) Marine Operations and will undertake a wide range of superyacht-specific courses. With education costs and training allowance covered by a training provider or other corporate sponsor, cadets undergo sea service onboard superyachts, sail training vessels and commercial vessels giving them a wide and valuable breadth of seagoing experience. WHY CHOOSE THE UNRESTRICTED SUPERYACHT CADETSHIP? As opposed to a yacht-restricted certificate of competency (CoC), an OOW (Unlimited) CoC enables candidates to: Work as a deck officer on any size of vessel, including superyachts above 3,000GT (which are classed as passenger superyachts or as passenger ships). The programme creates a logical link between the theory and practical elements in the real world environment of the day-to-day bridge, while improving knowledge and enhancing your crew s skills and promoting the latest maritime best practice. INTRODUCTION TO MARITIME CYBER SECURITY Delivered in partnership with maritime security specialists Cyber Prism, this three-day individual cyber security course offers interactive, practical training for both ship- and shore-based personnel and includes a CISCO Introduction to Cyber Security certificate. Learn to identify vulnerabilities, secure your systems and respond quickly to cyber-attack. Explore good security practice, and minimise your vulnerability to human factors blackmail, identity theft and fraud. Review incoming IMO new cyber security guidelines, the EU s NIS Directive and ISO standards for information security.
